Now Nwn2 compatible !
An editor for 2da, tlk, gff and nwn1-erf files written in Java ( source included ). REQUIRES Java 5 JRE or newer .
Run TlkEdit2.exe to edit Nwn2 files and TlkEdit.exe for Nwn1. Do not edit Nwn2 files in Nwn1 mode and vice versa as this will result in broken tlk and gff files.
Also includes the 2da patcher which allows you to create patches for easily adding lines to both 2da files and dialog.tlk. 2 Demo patches included : DwarvenDefender for non HotU users and dlpcpakv01 by Garad Moonbeam ( dragonlance races ) ) for use with the CODI Character Creator.
Features :
copy/paste between different TLK, GFF or 2DA files
search & replace ( with regular expressions ) in TLK, GFF and 2DA files
undo/redo in TLK, GFF & 2DA editors
spell checking in TLK and GFF editors (dictionaries must be downloaded separately)
open & edit supported files directly from an ERF file
Latest version, requires Java 5, run TlkEdit2.exe for Nwn2 file support
New in this version :
-copy & paste StrRefs from Tlk editor into the 2da editor
-spells.2da editor fixed for nwn2

works great. used it to extract Valine's custom textures from ACAG106.hak, and repack them into the default texture packs. because... lets face it, there's simply no better chest, hands/feet, or pelvis textures anywhere :) _________________________ jml's list of community addons/overrides, etc. Link
Okay, first an apology for the rant. After talking with someone who knows something about IP addresses, I discovered that what the program is doing is using IP sockets to communicate between it's parts. The two addresses it was trying to access were local to my machine, and so, not a problem. I just had to tell ZoneAlarm to let it connect.
So, for the other people who've run into this, just tell your firewall to let it talk, it's not trying to send your passwords off to some pirate or porn site, or the contents of your hard drive to Microsoft.
Okay, I just installed this program to try to figure out how to edit something in NWN1, and ZoneAlarm warned me that the program wanted to access the internet. Well, I told it okay (once, not permanent), and it popped up another request, this time to allow connections from the internet to connect to it. It does not load if I don't at least give it permission to connect, I still won't let it accept external connections from the internet.
I don't see why a program to edit local files needs to connect to the internet without my asking it to (like accessing a help menu item). If this program "needs" the internet to run, then it can't be run when I'm not connected. If it cannot be run when I'm not connected, then it's a poorly written program, no matter how great it is otherwise.
I would ask you to consider removing the internet access, or give us a good reason why it needs to access the internet (and especially why it wants to accept connections from the internet). Is this some sort of spyware trojan with a back door to allow access to our computers by someone else? I've seen those before, and I don't want another one on my computer.
Apart from that, it appears to be an excellent program.

Outstanding

Indispensabile. To me, it could use some minor tweaks such as disable the autoloading the last used file and slightly better cut/copy options. Other than that it simply works. And thats what matters. _________________________ Just because one is Dark, does not make them evil.
I downloaded it and when I click the exe it tries to connect to the Internet. When I tell my firewall not to let it, then nothing else happens, it won't even start. Why does it want to connect to the Internet, and why won't it start when I refuse to let it?
??

I'm having basically the same problem posted by zeke on 2006-11-21 23:49:16. It takes an eternity to load my NWN2 character's .bic file. It loads in seconds with GFF Editor v1.3.4.7, and takes >10 minutes with this tool. As far as I can tell, GFF Editor works perfectly fine for my purposes, and has basically all the same functionality as this tool.. at least when it comes to .bic's and .ifo's.
I sometimes can't open tlkedit2. I have the most recent version of JAVA, Microsoft Framework 2.0 Everything is patched to the last version (Windows XP, hardware drivers and NWN2) and several times the program cannot start. Where's the problem?
I've followed all instructions, and I cannot insert my race into the game. It refuses to allow me to add my custon race. I've followed all the instructions via the Dryad race editor tutorial, but I created my own unique race. It's not doing ANYTHING! It's not allowing me to do SQUAT! The .hak file's in the .hak folder, the .tlk file's in the .tlk folder... yet I cannot add the race to the game... the copy of the .tlk is ALSO in the NWN2 directory, renamed to , yet nothing's doing what it's SUPPOSED to do. I just want to play as my race IN THE ACTUAL campaign, but I can't get it to work... W...T...F...

I get this exception when I try to launch the editor.
Its perhaps because I use java 6 ?
Any Idea ?
Thanks
