Module Updater is a tool that allows you to easily add player based haks to modules. This reads a .hif file, and adds the contents of that file to the selected modules. If there is a conflict with content in the module, it will automatically attempt to merge the haks and tlks to allow everything to function properly.
A sample .hif file is provided in the RAR. Hifs can be opened with notepad, textpad, or any text editor.
REQUIRES version 1.1 of the Microsoft .NET Framework, available through Windows Update.

Importing erfs tends to bug modules in odd ways and make them compile/save very slow. You can always drag and drop scripts and items and such into the temp folder to add them to mods, but this program is the only one I know of that can import erfs and haks without any of the normal bugs. This is a very clean program.

9,000 downloads and around 10 votes. Makes me sad. This is a really unique, original piece of programming that is absolutely indispensable. Thanks again for creating this excellent tool!

This is what I get when trying to run the new download:
To run this application you must first install one of the following versions of the .NET Framework: v2.0.50727

Hell yeah! nice idea man this is a big time saver _________________________ Let there be rock
Would anyone be able to help me? When I try to open the program I immediately get the error "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135)." And then it automatically closes.
I'm trying to install the PRC with this onto the OC of a 1.68 install (actually copy of an install from my mac). Everything seems to work (I use -n for the directory) but when it gets to the event bindings it dies and says The System can't find file specified. If I comment out all the event bindings.. it runs all the way through.. Any ideas? It's driving me crazy.. I finally got my hands on a PC to do this and grr.. The system is a Win 2000 box.. with .Net 1.1 on it.

Well, its an incredibly handy tool. Being able to inject CEP and other haks into modules is great. Thanks :)

Lark_37: The CEP crafting isn't installed by default with the hak, has to be added seperately. Check the CEP documentation.

bleedingedge: this has got to be one of the most useful tools I've seen for nwn. Awesome work and lots of thanks!
Could you send me the step by step instructions as well? I can't figure out how to make an .hif either. Thanks in advance.

alright, i still don't understand how to make a .hif file. I need like, a step by step tutorial. I wanna make a hif file that will be compatible with the installer. i only want three haks to be in it: Arnaden2_Armor.hak, Deph's_ArmouryII.hak, and OriCombo.hak. How would i make a .hif file with these haks in it to be compatible with the installer?
Posted by Anonymous ( 83.148.xxx.xxx ) at 2005-03-27 07:16:00
You install first CEP, second any content that is tileset-related (if you have a .hif for it), and finally you install CEP. You don't install a merge. The merge is the result of the installing one after another the haks.

How do you make a .hif file? i only have 2 hakpak options when i open the installer: CEP and PRC. I want to make it so i can use the CEP PRC merge thing with the installer, and also for it to work with two other haks to be useable with the installer (specifically the hibroian age armor hak and some haks from ronin kensai of kyoto)

Giantkin,
It is still a no-go, there are 2 "combined" tlks. One is CEP+CRAP, the other is CEP+PRC. If you add +blocked+ on the CEP+PRC it does not fix issues. If you add PRC on top of the CEP+CRAP, it also doesn't work. I don't know how to make a combined .tlk, while changing all references within the relevant .hak to point to the correct "new lines". One worrisome thing is that not only names of some items become blank, but some appearances become illegal. Namely the fashion custom items and the trident weapons disappear in both cases.

While testing some new mods with the CEP 1.51 version I noticed that some Merchants when there store is opened the game crashes. The problem seems to be related to the Throwable weapons like Thunderstone,Acid Flask, Fire bomb, etc. When I reverted to the CEP pack 1.50 the problem was resolved. However if I would remove these items from the store with 1.51 installed and re-added them the crash would still occur. If you edit one of those objects it will say that the item has more than its max spell limit which is 0. I could see how this could cause a problem. Has anyone else noticed this? It looks like the problem is related to the 2da changes in the CEP pack. Haven't Tried to fix them myself yet but its getting to that point.
It works great for most custom content, but for some reason the C.R.A.P. + CEP + PRC combination fails.
I mean, C.R.A.P. have a tlk that is based off a combination of their content and CEP. Same goes for PRC "complete". But if you try to combine C.R.A.P. and PRC, the tlks add up, the haks are combined and some CEP items happily disappear, others no longer have visual models and there apear blanks in the items lists.
Any idea as to how this could be resolved?Hope is the denial of reality. But what is reality without a hope of changing it for the better? And what is worth doing if not the very thing that lesser mortals have labelled as "impossible to do", like making our hopes into our own reality.

I tried this out and so far it works great. Thank you, sir, for making the process much easier. To be honest I had no idea how to make all the mods I want to play CEP-compatible, this makes it a breeze!
to Joker:
To use this you must have custom content installed, like the Community Expansion Pack. Be sure to read the readme file for instructions, and be sure to use the window version rather than the command line version. Select the custom content u want to apply to a mod, then select the mod you want to apply it to.

Well, I just posted that Cep.hif file that has CEP 1.50. I hope it gets uploaded soon, so everyone is happy. Just install the CEP 1.50 *before* you install PRC 2.2 or later, otherwise it may go wrong.
Any thanks should go to Bleedingedge, who made the hifs first, and yay - they are easy to make. :)Hope is the denial of reality. But what is reality without a hope of changing it for the better? Getting this to work with Mono on Linux / Mac would get me to rate a ten.

I get the same error with nwn 1.65, but maybe due to having no .NET framework installed? ;)
