Are you tired of walking for hours when all you need to do is cross a simple gorge? Do you need to get away from a band of marauding orcs really, really fast? Then Juha's custom spells are right for you! Teleport anywhere you want! Leap across a revene! Explode in a great blast of goo! There are a variety of spells in this system, some useful and some completely rediculous. This is a group of spells with a custom 2da file which is meant to be placed into your override folder. Now includes: 25+ spells Read me Items with spells SpecAbilityList with 100+ Entries SpecAbilityList Work-around Polymorph others on MP servers Pre-made Item with Spells New spells Turorial on Spells Teleport through Walls
Will include a hakpak for builders who don't want to use the overrides and maybe some erfs for items with limited usage/power. _________________________ If it Ain't broke --- Fix it anyhow !
I have a package built and ready to upload which is an NWN 1.69 update to Juha's package. It is slightly different, as it just uses the Jumping Jehosafat item loaded with all the spells. This package does not deal with the importable characters spells - I'm not ready to go there and there's no need since all the spells are on the Jumping Jehosafat item.
Included:
- Overrides with the 1.69 updated .2da's
- 2 very short demo mods - so that characters can get the item and "save character"
- Original UTI for Jumping Jehosafat to import into saved games, modules, etc. via Leto AE
Would like to get Juha's permission to upload if he/she is still around. _________________________ If it Ain't broke --- Fix it anyhow !
This tool offers a lot yet as a Linux/Mac User I found it to be only half-baked.
Maybe it can only be activated with the toolset. Perhaps a simple demo module could have helped.
1. Special ability list is disabled and the link to the workaround is dead.
2. Cannot see/add the spell anywhere (e.g. lvl up as wizard)
3. Cannot spawn the item in game
4. LETO is a PC only tool

Thanks Juha.
I dl'd your override file. It looks great, but has way too much other stuff that I don't need. And I really like the effect disappear/appear for flying anyway.
So....if I was going to edit your 2da spells file just so that I can put in my 1 fly spell for flighted creatures...what would I need to open it up and perform surgery on it? You can errr trust me..im a doctor(lie)?
and then...do I need some other program to recompile it or something?
Q1) Can I write nwn script inside 2da files? Is that how its done?(cause im fairly good at scripting).
Q2) How do you determine what number files are safe to overwrite or not?(or is it all just trial and error, and making sure you have backups of everything along the way?)
thanks again for your patience and help.
someday, somehow, I'm going to learn how to do all this and then I'll be able to help other newbies.

SWEET!

J_SpecAbilityList.bic can be imported to your character via LETO AE. This gives it all the jumps and spells. However, thanks to the Bioware patches, this now only works in savegames (edit savegame, import this to character).
Can't find it? You need to add it to your character (like I just explained above) or add it to items and give your character those items. Note tho, not all spells can be put on all items.

I downloaded this purely for the jumping and cant seem to find it :S
No vote yet. Have a few questions and need a little help first (right now you are a 8, and that is even when this is not really helpful for me specifically ;) ).
I downloaded this mainly because of the jumping and leaping, but those are the two things I can't seem to get to use. All your other custom spells I can find and use in item proberties. Those two are to be found, right? And if, where?
I have read this thread and know the discussion about making it open source. I understand you, but that will not hold me back to ask you if you can provide a little help to open the source (maybe explain what this hex-editing is about for us newbies)? I would only really need the flying and perhaps the leaping, and I would like to put it into a HAK pack (the hak pack is private and only for me and my small gaming group)? Or did you post it somewhere else as open source? Or am I just such a noob, that I can't see the answer that is right infront of me?
With that in my hands, your HAK/tool is one of the absolute best things I will have for my mod and you are a clear 10 (and Hall of Fame material).

Thanks for your work...Im not sure I could live without teleport now, if NWN2 does not have it as a standard item, well... I anticipated getting 5 solid years out of NWN anyway. I would greatly encourage the authors to continue their work and add a few more practical spells for the override, just look at the download numbers. Thanks again -MorgTZu

This the vault. Theres like a million music and sound packs. Ask there. Why would you ask me? I make spells, not music! (oh, and you put it into your music folder, not the override or a hak)

Sorry, I was just wondering. Do you know who would know about music?
Stop asking about the music, im not a DJ! This has nothing to do with music. its like asking a question about quadratics in frikken gym class!
Now.. The dialog tlk itself cannot/should not be edited. You need to get a program that can make you a new custom tlk. But hey, i dont know about that. And another thing.. if you have nwn viewer or some other tlk viewer you can see that theres tons of entires, and you will probably find something you like..

Ooook.... This dont use a convo. You just cast a spell anywhere on the ground, in the line of sight, and you get teleported there. You cant really give them a CUSTOM name. The name has to be from the dialog.tlk. (You have to find its number and use the number in the spells.2da)

P.S. I'm kind of new to custom content, so go easy on me.

Haven't actually downloaded it, because I don't need it, but from the description your teleport sounds more like dimension door. I made a module specific teleport spell that used a conversation to decide where to go, but could only figure how to put it on an item. Checked spells.2da, put in an entry, but couldn't figure how to use custom name, description or icons. Any help welcome.

Thank you for the response. I will try placing them on different items, and will also look at the forums.
You say that I can add a SpecAbilityList by editing a saved game -- how exactly do I do this? Specifically, where do I drop the list? I've got the importing into LETO & all that down, but not so much the getting it to work -- you say they were removed, but you also say that they can be added; am I to infer that they've been 'officially' removed but still work when edited in, or do I just need to find a different way to use the spells?
And finally -- how do I vote? Is it a feature for registered users, or am I just missing something?
Thank you again for your reply. Sorry I'm still confused. ^_^
The tutorials were on a forum, and lots of its threads were deleted for no reason at all, including the tutorials. The forums still exist though, and you can check them out. Many threads were ressursected, too.
Not all spells can be put on all items. Some only go on wands for example, and some can be gotten in certain spell-casting classes, others can only be used via a SpecAbilityList. Sadly Bioware removed the ApecAbilityList in a patch of its, so now you cannot use them. You can add a list by editing a saved game (Single player only).

Unfortunately, the links to the tutorials seem to be broken -- my guess is the tutorial was on a message board, and the thread is gone. Either way, I am having trouble applying the special ability list to my character.
I have had some success with several of the spells by placing them on items with the Auora toolset, and I must say, good job! They look wonderful and work great! Unfortunately they don't all show up, and different ones seem to show up at different times -- this may be due to my inexperience with the toolset, lack of knowledge of all the spell names, or possibly the power level I'm setting the items at. I'm not sure, but the Jump and Fly spells are among the ones I'm not seeing. Drat. Those are the ones I really want to see, too. :-( Oh well, what I have seen I love! Great work!
Well not now, not yet.. As you see NWN is dying down. Maybe in NWN2 (if it all might be easier).
Adding a swim ability would need a larger hak, and this is kept small in size, so it is easier for people to download and use (it isnt even a hak).

very good job !
do you plan to implement "swimming" in the futur ?
