This handy utility takes all the headaches out of converting images for use as Custom Portraits within NWN. Simply converts the required bitmap, Jpeg or Portable-Net-Graphic (.PNG) file at the click a button! Full instructions are included. Just unzip the files and folders from the .zip archive and place them as they are into the root NWN directory. more details can be found in the 'ReadMe.txt. file within the .zip!
Version 1.6 Now available. This latest version includes some radical changes to make the processing and implementation of the utility much easier. No longer is a separate folder required and a Browser is implemened allowing to search and identify valid image files to convert on-the-fly. Unfortunately, this has lead to the abolishment of Batch-Processing, but this should be again implemented in a more user-friendly method for the next update.

Oh and Keiseth - The fullscreen usage is just becasue in drawing direct to buffer it's easier on Video RAM, however this is probably unnecessary as any build capable of running NWN should ahndle the converter regardless!

The program ONLY creates a Portraits folder if none exist, so there is no danger of overwriting. The application does not extract any archives itself, and must be COPIED along with the IMAGES folder into the NWN driectory.

This is great, only thing is, it should extract a folder called "Images". It did not do that for me, I just created a folder called Images. And it creates a folder "Portraits" which I think it should not, for fear it might overwrite one's current Portraits folder. Otherwise its awesome!

This could be easier - if it had a gui and if it put the pictures into a subfolder for you. But frankly - its WAAY easy and straight forward. USE IT. And stop by Tales of Celts. _________________________ Tales of Celts - Link

The lack of votes disturbs me. Works pretty well. Cuts down 10-15 minutes of image editing into a few seconds... but why does it do it in fullscreen? Seems un-needed, to me. But hey, as long as it works so well. =)

Keiseth's 10.00 - Must have. While not too difficult to convert the image by hand, it DOES take a while without the aid of something like this. Many thanks.

Can't wait to try this out, it sounds great Archduke! And to Jules about having to join the IGN -- I just reinstalled NWN and have been downloading A LOT of custom content this weekend, that IGN thing seems to be a fluke that pops up once in a while. Just hit back on your browser and try the download again. I have yet to see it pop up twice in a row...

Hi sorry for the delay in replying. The portraits in the portrait folder are for PCs only, and if more than one player has the same portraits in this folder, then they are visible in-game to those players. Unfortunately, the custom portraits cannot be selected from within the toolset for NPCs or Monsters.
