request for an powerful, and charismatic, asian (mongol) fighter/weapon master...possibly a military leader. something more photorealistic was the desired effect. SOURCES: random male stock photo, various armor and leather pieces, and a sweet stock photo for the backround.

I've yet to find a use for this portrait, but I really like it, and like having it in case I do decide I need it. Kudos!

Not much of an art critic myself - vocally, or with others' work, but...
Very nice. I really like the metal armor pieces, although I'm not sure what the "full-look" would be; am curious as to what you modeled it after...
As for the ammo belts - could be any number of things: darts, poison vials, little exploding acid vials for sticking in pesky locks, etc... :D _________________________ "From down here we can make the whole wall collapse."

Very nice pic. I really like the metal armor pieces; the inner left(char's right) breast-piece almost looks like half of a skull - I like it! _________________________ "From down here we can make the whole wall collapse."

Like gyrfalcon said, it could mesh with the background better. Otherwise very good. :D _________________________ Link a Ravenloft persistent world

I think the 'about to cry' effect is caused by the highlighting on the lower part of his irises, which I think is a little too strong here. Also, the 'strong highlight on the top of the cornea, softer one on the bottom of the iris' thing is generally quite correct and is a good way of brightening up a character's eyes even when the light wouldn't really be hitting the irises quite that way ... except the light on his eyes appears to be coming from the viewer's upper left, while the light on the rest of his face is clearly coming from the upper right, which makes the eyes look out of place and exaggeratedly wet. The right one (his right, viewer's left) might also benefit from being darkened; I don't think it'd be receiving that much light.
This is an excellent portrait, though, and I can't fault it otherwise.

rating portraits is retarded.
someone named Puppeteer gave me a 3 on this portrait, yet did not say why.
is this really worthy of a 3.....is it well below average?
LOL.
