I checked and saw only 7 female gnomes on the vault which I thought was a shame, so I decided to make one. And because there are so few around I figured I should make a more generic gnome so she's more usable. Gnomes have big prominent noses, pointy ears and love fine clothing and jewellery, -so there you are, a stereotypical gnome ;-) This was another photo I couldn't resist, I love the playful and mischievous look on this woman's face :D I found it in this stock gallery: http://sis-stock.deviantart.com/ Enjoy!
heh, just noticed something funny and had to mention it :p Do you guys know that one of the females in Bioware's own portraits has a lip piercing? :D I only just noticed as I hardly ever play as a female. I guess as this is a fantasy world and not *really* medieval times, -it only has a "medievalish" setting, Bioware figured it was ok? *shrugs*

AAAAAAH!! NOW I get it! LOL!
People thought she had a tongue piercing! LMAO! I didn't get that! I'm sorry, I'm not familiar with all english expressions, I thought they were refering to the flirty/teasing tounge stunt she was doing, and I couldn't understand why that would be anachronistic. :p
Goodness, give me a little credit here! Don't you think I would have removed her piercing if she had one??

sorry, forgot to say that I liked it very much.
I don't have any 'happy' gnomes in my module, or I'd find a place for her. Just deep gnomes - dour people they are, no redheads :P
Thanks for the input all, appreciate it.
I really have tried to figure out what is odd about it since it's been mentioned by so many, but I honestly don't see it *confused* It might be that the very things I find appealing about it are the things people find odd? Like the pose/camera angle? I think that adds something to the portrait rather than being a negative thing, -makes it more interesting somehow, but that may just be me. Or so it seems, lol.
Oh well, I guess many of my portraits will never be for the mainstream as I like a little originality. Not weirdness, just something that makes them more interesting to look at and more fun to make ;-)
Cheers :)"Light travels faster than sound, that's why some people appear bright until you hear them speak"
I have to say that I love this picture! It's true there are a couple things that make it look a bit odd but I love the expression and colors. Excellent job!

Oh, great! Let's meet at the next tavern for some gnomish card games ;)
And why is that? It's a very natural gesture for a playful/mischievous (or coquete for that matter) woman, and I'm sure it has been so for centuries, it's an automatic thing :P

I like it. Very flirty. Although the tongue stud is a little anachronistic. :p
Oh, and just a little FYI: Bozo has scarlet hair, not orange.
My hair used to be real bright like this, but with age it's dimmed down to a medium chestnut with blonde highlights."Me Go Beer!" - Mr. Dave _________________________ Me go beer!
That tongue is exactely one of the reasons I loved the portrait as it makes her look like such a rascal. There are quite enough of pretty girls with blank facial expressions around :) Don't you guys have any humour at all? Sheesh...
Balgin Stondraeg: I checked 3 places just to be sure about gnome appearance, 2 said they have "pointy ears" one just said "large ears". I therefore assume pointy -or large ears is the "norm". And doesn't all the bioware gnome portrais show them with pointy ears too? Can't remember for sure but I think so.
I don't know why you'd think the neck is awkward, it's the actual pose in the photo, I didn't merge a head with someone elses body. Again, I think the pose made the portrait more interesting. I love unusual angles they make you look twice at a pic. I can't stand portraits where the character sits/stands straight with a somewhat blank facial expression. Me for one like to see something in their faces whether it be evil, sadness, mischief, humour or rage. Because then you have a much more believable character to play with.
Just my 2 cents.

Three points: gnomes do not need to have pointed ears, the neck is awkward and why the tongue stud?
