Designed to reduce the tedium of buffing after rest and to free up quick slots. It stores spell Id's on the rod that the user can then use to cast all stored spells as a single action.
I've also included a zip with a module that players can load up to get the rod on their local vault characters.
Update: it turns out that the rodfastcastmod wasn't working when you import characters into modules without importing the .erf. I've updated it to add a file for you to put into the override folder for it to work. I apologize to those that downloaded the mod and weren't able to get it working.
8/9/2006 updating the new mod file that is verified to work.
8/19/2006 - Added the Extended Rod of Fast Buffing
This version has the rod in a module to simplify the process of getting the rod on a local vault character. Just load up the module with the character you want and the rod is sitting in a chest. You will have to add a few files to your override directory.
This is the Extended Rod of Fast Buffing. This one allows you to target either yourself or a party member. The caster can also target the rod itself to clear out the spell list.

I'm embarrassed that I never voted on this before. I'll echo other comments I've seen here and say that once you've gotten used to having it, it's no fun being deprived of it. A very useful tool and eminently deserving of a very high score. Nice work! _________________________ "I am sitting in the smallest room of my house. I have your review before me. I've added the wand to our server. Thank you for sharing your work!

Talk about addicting... once you are used to having this while playing, you really miss it when you don't have it. Thanks for sharing. I'll be installing this on Mythos and coming up with some quest the player must complete in order to get one. *evil grin*

Anything that enhances game play on this level, especially for PCs, definitely deserves a 10 and is well worth putting into any module..
Big thumbs up for making this, it inspired me to make my own, for my version uses a simple chat command !buff, a rod, or a rest menu option, no charging of a rod needed..
Thanks again for making this... :D _________________________ Here is a link to: My Other Submissions

omg! Very sweet... and an effective prophylactic for impending carpal tunnel to boot. Should be a standard item for all modules. thank you! _________________________ The NEWEpic Character Builder's guild

Works just like you said.
A must in any module with spell casters.
Thanks

I added both rods to Shadow Mountain, and tweaked the self buffing one to be usable in combat. _________________________ Doing it the only way I know how, the Hardway!
loudent -- not idea if you even check here anymore, but ...
The "readme" leads me to believe that the Rod of Fast Buffing can NOT be given to a PC in a different game, i.e., every PC that desires one, must go to the mod provided, get the rod, and then be exported back into the mod where it will be used? Have I gotten that right or am I misreading it.
I would like to have this item included in a PW where I currently play, but if it can't be simply added to the present PW mod, then it won't happen.
Anyone else add this to an existing mod?
Thanks. DaveO

Have used it for quite a while now on our PW, and am now adding it to another. Very good job thank you. _________________________ Doing it the only way I know how, the Hardway!
The official campaigns do not use tag-based scripting. The rod never worked in them.

This does not work in the any of the official campaigns (1.69).
The rod works in module, but not when the character is imported. Something about not being a valid target?

I love this thing. I use it in my PW, and I miss it sorely when I play anywhere else. With one rod for my spellcasters and one for her companions I never get mixed up and have to rest to start over again, because I cast a spell on the wrong person. It's fast, so I never get interrupted by someone joining/leaving the party and have to wonder where in the queue I was when it got dumped. And best of all, it uses the casters own memorized spells so PCs with high UMD scores can't use it for casting level 9 spells they got stored by their spellcaster buddies.

Not sure what I was thinking. If you're using the Extended rod of fast buffing(the one that lets you target others) you can clear the rod by activating the rod and targeting the rod itself.
Posted by Milliorn at 2007-03-04 17:25:01 Voted 9.75 on 02/02/07
check my last post, it makes a 2da check for if spell is flagged as hostile, preventing such event :D
as for clearing the spells, yeah no luck so far :( had an idea however, to fire a second script to destroy wand an create new one. that was about as close as I got. _________________________ A Carpathian Nightmare - Action

There is no code to prevent hostile spells however, since you can only target yourself or a party member it doesn't do much good. (Unless you want to attack yourself or a party member :))
At this time there is no way to clear the Rod.

int nHostile = StringToInt(Get2DAString("spells","HostileSetting",GetSpellId()));
if(nHostile ==1)
{
FloatingTextStrRefOnCreature(83885,OBJECT_SELF);
return;// TRUE; // no hostile spells on sequencers, sorry ya munchkins :)
}
i put this in the else if block. top variable on top with the others in the var list. still trying to figure out how to clean the wand of its spells now :D _________________________ A Carpathian Nightmare - Action

Nice one.
The buff fest after every rest can be very zzz when your with high level chars...
Shame you can't add the metamagic type too but you can't have everything. _________________________ City of Melnibone

Hey, this is quite nice, mate :) With your permission we'll use a modified version in Caereena 2.
Needs imo to have some way to clear the rod and a limit on the number of spells it can store, and probably defensive spells only. We can fix all that up :)
