Description
Playtested by about 18 people through all chapters at least twice. * This release is intended to modify the retail 2nd expansion for NWN (HotU) so that multiplayer is feasible. The original XP2 is difficult for multiple players so this package introduces a custom item, conversation, and several scripts to 'fix the problems', so to speak. Note that this is by far the easiest way to make multiplayer possible, however it also means that some core scripts had to be modified. * Future patches may or may not change things. * Updated to v1.1 * Updated to v1.2 * Updated to v1.3

um, i tried doing this last time when it was for 1.61... and it didnt work, maybe i did something wrong. Do you just follow the instrustions in the text box and it works? or do you have to do some extra work outside of this to get it to work? Also, after doing all the stuff in the sections, should i be able to create a game(i am using lan) and my friend to join it and be fine after applying this patch? The well was the only problem for us, couldnt get down after my buddy went down, which item is used for teleporting to the party leader? I need to know where to get these items, i was wondering if i had to talk to someone to get them, or will they already be in my inventory as soon as i start the game? Sorry that im a computer dummy with all this, but some details i got a little confused on. also, does this fix when my bud is joining the game and he gets stuck in the dream with the evil drow lady? Sorry about so many questions O_o.

Decided not to change the way amulet is obtained.. it's given to the FirstPC on sensei death if PC doesn't have a copy.

Did decide to change grappling hand, now it should be given to all party members who don't have it at that point in story.

Just to point out, no teleporting during combat is to prevent players from just jumping out when in danger. Sometimes there may be instances when you have some obstacle dividing two players who are both near a combat zone, but I think that's part of the game..

For the amulet, yes I probably didn't look at the death script of the priestess. May look at that someday after vacation (currently travelling abroad).

Maybe giving every party member a grappling hand is justifiable.. May look at that later as well..

my wife and i just finished. wow. what a fun oc. much thanks for this mod to make it work with multiplayer. we spent hours trying to get down the well before installing this. everything went as smoothly as can be expected. the usual multiplayer glitches like henchmen disapearing or evil theif wife pickpocketing citizens and making everyone go hostile did exist. we benefited from strategic game saving. nothing related to this mod went wrong. however there were some issues that perhaps you would like to know about. perhaps you will adress them. perhaps not. either way i thank you for helping us out. :)

1. cant teleport when near battle. this was tough when one person went through a door and the door locked shut behind them. this happend a couple of times. also happend when one person teleported to another location. we had to wait for the person to kill the puzzle guardians (not so tough).

2. would have liked to have the multiplayer item give us the amulet after we got it off the person we did. but it would not. perhaps it was the evil way the amulet was obtained? (again rofl @ meh wife). anyway she had the amulet and i the ring. i guess there is only one per party? is there a reason or is this to guard from abuse. at any rate it would been nice.

3. is there any way for all party members to get the grapling hook item from the chest. this led to some issues and it would have been cool if we could both use it.


also if one person is in a cut seen and the other person teleports to them they can walk around the scene while the movie is playing. it is really pretty funny. i teleported in and killed the valsharess during a cutssceen halfway through act 2 lol. we had to start from our last save game or go to ch3.

anyway much fun was had with little frustration. if you have multiplayed the other OCs then you will be familiar with the typical issues involved. it is still great fun. i personally had much more fun playing this oc than the others.

Hi Ceros,

I could managed to play through chapter 2. However, I find that the Reaper doesn't recognized all of our henchmen so there will have no dialogue to summon them to the gatehouse. Do you have any clue to work around it?

got through the first act. went on to the next no problem. thanks for making this mod. my wife and i really apreciate it. this expansion pack is the best oc so far imo. it scales great for two people but i dont think it is wise to do this with too many (if any) npc to assist you. it would make it too easy imo. wife and i are playing as sorcerer are cleric.

Hi there!

I think this is a big mess ...
the EXP2 is released without a full Muliplayer support?Can´t be, can it?

We startet a MP played NWN, then EXP1 and even now the EXP2 ... we made it together to Chapter 3 so far, managing all problems
- like the well
(Trick: use the Relic of the reaper and then order the Reaper to beam you to your partyleader)


but there are many other problems in MP. So our problem is, that the Items, which are necessary to get along ar only for the Game-Leader and they can´t be given away.
Thats the Problem for us now.
We are stuck in the 3rd chapter with that Hand from Gagamesh. Only one partymember has the hand and will get past the canyan (river Styx). The other player(s) will bie like prison. can´t get back or further on.

Hope there will soon be a good solution for such problems.

this nice MP Mod stil won`t work with previously saved games, will it?

Hope some Answers will be found, or if somebody has a quite good information, pls. mail me. That would be very nice.

thanks for this. wife and I are starting this tonight with 6.2 (she is on a mac and i am on pc). we did not read comments about having to rename old sp files so our first attempt last night failed when we realized that we were supposed to "spawn" with the special item in our inventory. we thought mabey you had to talk to someone to get it or something. if you are installing this make sure you read the comments below for ammendments to the included instructions. when you start the game if you dont have the special item something is wrong and you need to edit your single player xp2 filenames.

I briefly looked over some of the scripts.. they seem to be the same. Also the nwm "modified date" didn't change after 1.62.. so.. I think it'll work.

If you can't find where the XP2 multiplayer teleport item is:
1. look again, the item icon is same as Harpers class icon (the moon thing)
2. check your file names.. read further below about the naming convention (.mod can't be the same as .nwm). Example: you can't have XP2_Chapter1.nwm in \nwm AND XP2_Chapter1.mod in \modules, AND try to load the mod file through Other Modules in multiplayer. NWN will just use .nwm instead.

This is a compilation of the old system into a single score. There were 1 that made this score of 10 then rounded to 10.

its an addon for a game - it says MULTIPLAYER POSSIBLE on the package?

Im going to opt for a full refund, - i want to play, not engineer the whole f***** engine, to be able to play.

Hi Cero,

My friend and I have applied your fix and I could get the speical item even if we rename it back to .nwn file. However, we have encountered a problem: when we level up to 20, we find that the next level is shown as "Maximum Level" instead of the experience points that required for lvl 21. Do you have any clue about this?

I confirm this problem. Thanks. I didn't anticipate this kind of "feature"..
All users please read:

Cause: NWN automatically uses nwm file if a .mod file has same filename string (before .mod). You can confirm by renaming .nwm and it will show up in Other Modules.

Solution: If you don't want to go through the hassle of checking module transition scripts for module names then simply rename all XP2 .nwm files. Example: XP2_Chapter1.nwm to XP2_Chapter1_SP.nwm. You can leave .nwm in \nwm folder. Now when you use Other Modules to start a new game you'll know which is which.

If this is still not clear to people tell me.

I did all that, including starting the game using 'Other Modules'.

I just did some testing.

Started a new game from 'other modules' after placing the files in the nwm dir into another folder - received the xp2 multiplayer teleporter.

Started a new game from 'other modules' with the *.nwm game files still in the nwm folder - no item. Saved this game exited, moved the files in the nwm folder & restarted save - no go as it could not find the files.

I wonder if it is because I did not rename the files I copied to the modules dir(except for changing *.nwm to *.mod)

As the readme says, first copy .nwm into \modules folder, then rename to .mod. Only modify .mod files. When you start a game using Other Modules it will only look in \modules folder, and has nothing to do with what's in \nwm.

I think I worked out what the problem is. If you don't do anything with the files in the nwm dir, the game still uses them even thru you start one in the modules section.

Unfortunately we'd already started the game & am into the second chapter so its a bit late. I've moved the third chapter into a separate folder with the hopes that when we finish the second chapter it will refer to the modified file in the mdule folder (hope this makes sense)

To all: don't use old savegames from when you played nwm (campaign). When you start a new game, choose Other Modules instead of Campaign.

Apnu: There should be no problems with the well, since everything related to that hasn't been changed. If they can't go down, you go down and they can teleport to you. Teleporting isn't clicking on portraits, you need to use the custom item and do it through conversation. The item looks like a white gold crescent moon.

fantomas: if you read through all of sections 4.0-5.0 in readme and still can't find the problem, email me instead with more details (which erfs were imported to which mod, did you use old saves or not, etc).

Did not work for me. ie no custom item appeared in either my or my wife's backpack using the modified files.

Do you need to copy the files back to the nwm dir & rename them? we just ran them from the mod dir. Did not rename the files except to change the ending on them to '.mod'

My friend and I tried to load the game from the beginning after installing your patch and the other players can't get down the well, and clicking on the party leader's icon to teleport does nothing but put "/tp 'playername'" in the dialogue box, are we missing something important?

HOWEVER, you can finish up Ch1 and export chars. Then modify Ch2-3 and play there with imported characters. That works.

Won't work with savegames which didn't use modified files. This goes for any other modules and updates, old saves won't work. (Just to cover my ass: I'm 90% sure ;P)

Didn't work.. new item resource didn't get recognized by nwm...I forget whether these days you can put uti in override and introduce a brand new item resref to the game that way.
