Description
NWN2 Haze is poised to be the defining element in hardcore roleplay for Neverwinter Nights 2. As a re-imagining of the Hall of Fame awarded Haze, developed by members of the same team and with an additional two years of experience, it will deliver the same strictly enforced high-impact, high-intensity Forgotten Realms roleplay experience.

Employing permanent death and a huge number of custom systems and tweaks, NWN2 Haze offers a whole new kind of gritty, immersive, edge-of-your-seat roleplay that other servers can't deliver. Through a talented team of Dungeon Masters and bold ideas, NWN2 Haze is a world that rewards good roleplay with great fun, and gives characters the opportunity to conquer or fall by their own actions.

server might be open to tbe pulic but its just a beta with more activity on the forum than in the world. rpgfan is not a fan. voting perfect 10s because its your favorite social place to hang only hurts the merit of real pws with something to offer.

I'm trying to figure out how the score for this PW remains at 10 when there have been votes of 4.0, 1.0, and 5.5. Incidentally, the post I believe best describes this PW, is DinosaursInJets. Nicely written. -Hawk _________________________ You fell victim to one of the classic blunders! "his is the best RP PW I've ever been on - the players and DMs and the entire experience are terrific." QFT, totally addictive and immersive... Play it.

I think everyone is entitled to their vote. If people are re-voting with 10's, Maximus I am sure will spot it, he has been good about votes for my PW. He removed triple votes of 1's to bring down our vote, as well as making a disgruntled ex-DM from our NWN1 server keep quiet. I am sure he monitors people to see if IPs are from the same area, for double votes of 10. Personally, I like running events and playing in events that have long-played PCs. I don't mind permadeath, but such a hardcore system isn't for me, but thats just me, and from what I read here, there is a demand for it. Permadeath now and then I like, just not you die once, its over. From what I read, it looks like the server has potential, I will check it out soon, and then vote. _________________________ Talernon3 - Age of Dragons Link Talernon Team Submissions: Link 3C Music Compilation: Link

One-lined reviews of perfect scores within a span of a few days smells to me, so I had to dig around and try Haze for myself. There's lots of work still left for this particular server and it's by far a groundbreaking PW; no different in style than many of the other PWs available at the moment and in the early stages of NWN2's existance. Poor spawns or lack of, as already mentioned and little detail to what makes a place worth visiting - its npcs with colorful dialog, routines and quests. This gives anyone who would like to explore on their own little to do although finding folks to roleplay with is not difficult at all, except that's all I found myself doing since there was nothing else to do. Can't wait for a more polished world. _________________________ Foxxy

I am rating this according to the NWN2 voting standards, not just a knee-jerk "I like it so I will give it a 10!" or "The builders made me cry so I am giving it a 1!" vote. Votes are meaningless if they are just a 10 or a 1 without any qualification or thought given to them. Pros: * The areas that I saw are very nice. The areas showed a nice level of visual artistry. * Lots of good players. The players and team are very knowledgeable about the forgotten realms settings, classes and gods and I saw very little Out Of Character (OOC) text, what little I did see was quickly silenced by the other players and taken to private tells. * New domains for the rest of the Forgotten Realms cosmology. * Timed xp is nice. Some of the players do not like it but it feels nice that I am not getting left behind because I do not go out to farm monsters or get lucky to be in many dm events. I was able to chat with other characters without feeling the old "I am wasting time by accomplishing nothing, I could be earning some xp to unlocking the REAL ULTIMATE POWER!" feeling that is always there, lurking in the bottom of every player's heart. * Hardcore. Hardcore can be hit or miss depending on how it is used. It feels pretty good here. They seem to have gotten rid of the Thirst and Hunger and have gone with just Fatigue, which I like. The rate of Fatigue loss feels about right. Hunger and Thirst were a major hassle in the NWN1 version of Haze and I am glad to see them gone. I like the permadeath and the long resting times -- it takes 5 minutes to complete resting, so there is some immersion that you are relaxing, not just falling to your knee for 6 seconds and getting up fully healed and rested. The persistent damage and not recovering full HP on resting is nice as well, it makes getting injured a more serious danger. Cons: * There are no creatures spawns anywhere. Everything has to be spawned by a DM. If you wander around, you will not find any creatures unless a DM has left them there. But they will rebuke players for not knowing that the caves they wandered into are supposed to be full of vicious orcs that would kill them in seconds. * There are no NPCs that I could see. The towns are supposed to be populated according to their forums, and you are just supposed to pretend that it is full of npcs walking about. * Crafting needs urgent tweaking. Currently a single character can only craft three things per real-life day. Making something simple like a bottle requires all three attempts, two attempts to make each of the glass ingots and a third to make them into a bottle. The bottle can be used by alchemist, but making something useful will require 2-3 of your crafting attempts to grind up the components. The tools degrade rapidly, requiring them to be fixed every other day or so. Many of the crafting professions require things that can only be gotten from animals, which as I mentioned earlier do not spawn. All of the tools degrade rapidly and require materials to repair (which I think requires another crafting attempt, I am unsure about this.) which likely causes the tools needed to harvest them to degrade as well. It feels like a constant effort against entropy, but entropy easily has the upper hand. Crafting seems to be an important part of the server so the extreme slowness and difficulty of crafting are fairly important parts. It is hard to judge the equipment issues that I have seen when it is all tied in with crafting. I can not comment much on the DM presence or events, as I have only seen one, which was an orc trader that was providing goods needed for crafting that were unobtainable otherwise due to there being no creature spawns (things like meat, animal bones, leather) which only a few players were able to interact with because of certain reasons. The forums seem to indicate that there are some pretty impressive things going on when I am at work, so it may be hit or miss depending on the timezone (as with any server that has dm events). It feels like it was launched prematurely. At the very least the crafting and monsters/npcs should be in place. It has a lot of potential, and the players are finding things to roleplay with and there are many people to just chat and scheme with. I do not want to sound too negative, I have had fun roleplaying with the other players but that alone does not make a server worthy of a 10.0 ranking, which is '10 - A Masterpiece, Genuinely Groundbreaking'. I am giving it a 5.5 because it requires a lot of improvement to truly be considered a masterpiece or groundbreaking, but it currently has a good environment to offer to particular types of players. The server is a good start, carried forward by the roleplaying abilities of the players but it definitely has some work needed on the module itself to become more complete and self-sustaining. It has the potential, and if you want to play a very social character you should give it a chance as the roleplaying community there is talented. The builders are talented, hopefully with time this server will be more complete and deserving of a new ranking.

Incredible Roll play, a persistent world truly worth visiting daily.

Very innovative, detailed and most importantly FUN! The more I play this game it becomes increasingly obvious that there was a lot of thought, time and hard work put into making what I would gladly call the best PW out there for NWN2, as well as the best roleplaying experience I've had in a very long time. Thank you Haze team for your dedication to making this project one that everyone loves. _________________________ --Agent M

I am really enjoying Haze. This is the best RP experience I've ever had in an online game, be it MMORPG or PW. The Haze team deserves all the kudos it gets! Bravo! I look forward to many long hours of my life poured into this world.
