The Frontier is a Heavy Roleplaying Peristant World for Neverwinter Nights 2 where you take on the role of a colonist. You, and your fellow explorers have just arrived at the colony of Founder's Falls. The world outside the colony gates is wild, untamed, and dangerous. Will you explore the vast new lands? Build new towns and cities? And uncover an ancient and dangerous truth that lies in the new world? It's up to you, the player, with the help of a skillful team of DM's to build the world you will be living in.
As far as PWs goes, the Frontier is one of the best RP servers we have. The largest problem for NWN2 as a whole is that NWN1 is superior in many ways. I do thank Obsidian for the beautiful graphics they have provided. This isn't to bash them. However, people haven't left NWN1 yet. The number of quality RP servers for NWN1 is almost staggering. However, once you begin looking with NWN2, you will realize there aren't many and that the Frontier is a very well constructed RP server. For those that build and script, you will understand more than most, especially with the new modification for NWN2. Of course, all of our wildest fantasies are not met, name some who can meet our expectations. No million dollar company, let alone a few people, have been able to do so. Being a member since almost its inception, and staying under the radar, I have seen the ups and downs. I have to give it to the staff cause they are constantly trying to make it better. If you know anything of running a PW, then you know it isn't easy and the volunteers run it completely.

The Frontier has its glory days I guess but now it is only a portion of what it once was. Being the most popular Role-play server in 2006 and 2007, the Frontier was popular for its large amount of players at anytime and amount of effect of all players to keep up the quality of role-play. Unfortunately, wherever there are people, there are disputes. The huge numbers of players only brought more conflicts, and each of these conflicts had frustrated some number of players and staffs, some of these top quality role-players. Some left in good terms, some didn't. Some decided to build their own server seeing the success and flaws of the Frontier. Some just had had enough with nwn2. Every server has flaws. Staffs and DMs couldn?t be always right. It is always about if either side can take a step back. In my eyes the Frontier was doing well enough. I wish they recover from the recent server lost and staff reconstruction soon. On the good side, I heard that a new server is bought and being set-up. A new website is underway, as well as a new forum. New staffs are brought into the team and old staffs come back to help. Now there is double the number of staff of all time. Even if the staffs still somehow have favorism, I guess there are enough staffs to love all. =) I am happy that the management team has shown a will to make the server better, and put that to action.

doesnt deserve a 9, the dms are mean, everyone metagames, you cant play evil unless your asking for your character to die (good always wins), the areas are ugly and alot of prefabs are used unedited. lots of boring rp if your low level, dms break rules alot for their characters and not a fun place.

Lowering my score. Looking back over the comments, I've come to remember alot that were major turnoffs--DMs handing out uber items for no apparent reason to high level characters, way too many special races, feeling useless and bored to death when a low level character during events, most events being devoid of any real roleplay just people spamming the chat logs and seeing a wall of text, having characters barred from reasonable actions such as assasinating NPCs breaking out of jail. I remember being told that no matter how many characters were against the current town guard, it would always stay, no matter what. _________________________ Obsidian Shore, a HoF 9.8 heavy roleplaying PW. Used to play there, was my first RP server and RP experience. Started out as a near-perfect RP experience. DMs were nice, players were nice, there was a good amount of amazing roleplay going on, good RP was rewarded well, players could make a difference and it definitely deserved a 10. Then, don't know what happened, but it seemed to have taken a bit of a turn for the worse. Don't know how it's doing now but when I left it seemed as if there was OOC drama left and right that was ruining RP, a large amount of metagaming, deterioration of RP, and general hostility. Still, overall was a great experience that ended badly. Would recommend to anyone with either a very casual, laid-back attitude on roleplay or someone who is very hardcore. _________________________ Obsidian Shore, a HoF 9.8 heavy roleplaying PW. To mch emphisis on party play and character requirment, i attempted to play on theis server and found ecause i am in a remote area (+10 GMT) i could achieve very very little. The admin support was good when it was around, but it needs a little autominy so people like myself can at least buy basic items without having to wait for other players to come on.

Indeed when I first went to the frontier it was good, save the appearance the role play was alright but steadily the role play became worse and worse and like others have said it became focused on only a few of the players who were able to do anything even things outside their alignment and position of authority with no repercussions. You are penalized for playing a evil character with meta gaming guards and no chance to even have anything bad to happen to one of the areas.

This server lost all the kept it going at the start, not to mention it never really looked good...VERY EVIL BIAS!

It was one of the best servers out there for a long time! But now It is on a collision course with failure. Over the past few months the DMs have become increasingly biased towards a select few players, only running quests for them and ignoring everyone else. The server is a "good" aligned biased and evil is metagamed heavily. They have a level token system which in theory is great! But it is administered by biased DMs who will only give them out to their friends. The staff are quite unorganized when dealing with events and PW updates. Often PWs are promised with loads of goodie but he final product is only a fraction of what is promised, and often broken. Also if you have a concern with an issue or situation you are often met with resistence and flaming and telling you to stop whining OOC. I will say this right now I was banned and many will just take this as me being bitter about it. The truth is I was going to leave so that is not the issue. Also the play on The Frontier you must submit a bio, Which I agree with. but that is also flawed. It does not cater to the occasion D&D player or someone with limited knowledge of Forgotten Realms. You are often made to redo the bio for trivial issues such as how you were raised who your parents were why you decided to do what you are doing etc etc. Now I agree some background is needed to help develop your character. But going into the smallest details can be quite tedious and are often not even played out on the server. A simple bio of one paragraph should be sufficient, but it is not. Also they say you are allowed to start your own guild, own a house or whatever the case may be. This is true in theory but will likely never happen unless you are friends with the DMs. They take months to put your guild in and an extremely high price to make IG. The problem with that is gold is scarce on the server unless you are one of the favored. It is a shame since the server has unlimited potential but is run poorly with little DM quests run. I would say about 3-5 a month on the average. And often they are small quests with overpowered monsters only level 16+ PCs can do. There are however some good points about the server though not many. The Lore is quite interesting and gives alot of angles to develop your character in. The RP for the most part is very good and played well. There are exceptions however but thats anywhere. Most of the playerbase is friendly and fun. Basically the concept of the server is excellent. Just poorly played out. But don't go on my word alone feel free to check it out for yourself. And if you do best of luck to you.
