Description
The Lost Dungeons of Adventure (LDoA) is an Action PW with focus on dungeon delving, item acquisition and leveling.
The design is based on commercial MMOs. Some of our features include:
- Pseudo-instanced dungeons
- Heroic and Linked monster spawns
- Custom, unique powers obtainable through quests
- Dynamic quest system that tracks your progress through the Journal.
- Nytur's battle system integrated into the world
- Runic enhancement system that allows your items to grow in power with you.
- A death system that puts you into XP debt rather than XP Loss
- Areas that can adjust themselves to any level PC
- Kaedrin's PrC Pack integrated into the world adding new spells and classes
A stand alone version of the Quest builder application for the LDoA PW. This application runs in straight windows (might require .NET framework) and allows the builder to save quests in .qst format.
This is the plug-in version of the Quest builder application for the LDoA PW. It allows you to load/save from .qst files as well as store/retrieve from with-in a module. See the message boards for details on how to use. This is the version I will be using for all future quests.

I am not sure how you came to that conclusion, nitoro81. You begin as level 1. Your first quest is an achievement quest that asks you to explore the village you start in. If you are playing a non-ECL PC, you are awarded enough XP to advance you to level 2, as well as a rune to enhance your weapon/armor of choice.
Once this is complete, you then have a choice of up to 10 new quests. 3 that you can do as a level 1 or 2 PC solo. You can also go around town and get side quests to go along with those achievement quests to gain additional gold/XP. As you complete these quests, you obtain runes for enhancing your gear, as well as gold and XP for level progression. It is really quite simple and straightforward.
"...slay 1000 cobolds..." First of all, sir/ma'am, it is Kobolds. Secondly, no. You gain quite a decent amount of XP for killing spawns, as well as XP for killing linked encounters, as well as generous XP for completing quests. You can hit level 4 on this server in a short time. No, you can't go kill one badger and become level 4 like some other servers out there. You must work for what you get. It is earned, not given, and it is an adventure PW, not a level-up module.
I invite you to try us out again and this time, read the dialogue, and take a look at the options. Someone who says what you said has not taken the time to simply read the dialogue and choose the right options, my friend. Action servers where you have to earn your gold/XP/magic items are not for everyone, but once more, we are not a level-up module. So - if you are looking for something like that, I suggest you download the dozen or so level-up modules available on the Vault. If you are looking for an action server with questing as its main focus, then this is the place.
Listen. You start as a lvl 1 haracter and the very first quest you are assigned rewuires a group of lvl 5-7 characters? WTF?! Is this a joke? Must one slay 1000 cobolds in the mine just to get to lvl5 in order to face the first guest? WTF!

Hiya folks.
Just putting a post out here in regards to LDoA. We now have a new DM and developer, and DM interaction happens more now. You can expect a DM to run impromptu event every once in awhile, and even posted and planned continuous story-line RP events.
Please come by and visit us. With new areas going in, new content being constantly developed, LDoA strives to be a uniqe Action server with some sanctioned RP events that places a focus on PC builds, challenging your tactics, and aquisition of unique items through the defeat of bosses and participation in DM events.
There's always something to do, and a quest to complete. Crafting can be done by PCs or hired crafters, as well as magical enhancement via runes that can be quested for. Stop by and see us to join in the Adventures!

Pretty much my thoughts on this server have been expressed by everyone else already.
Pros:
Fun hack n slash
Enchant your own gear
Not too much running
Kaedrin's additions
Possible to level quickly
Helpful players
Admin works hard and accepts input from players
Cons:
Small-medium world
Small community (find myself soloing a lot)
Dungeons/encounters not diverse (being worked on!)
Some classes not useful (also being worked on!)
Bottom line: try this server out for fast paced hack n slash fun _________________________ Cy

great world, great design, great play, and perfect content

I first looked at LDOA because it uses Kaedrin's. It's one of the only PW's with epic level content without heavy, enforced roleplay. I like to RP, but I'm not a strong typist, so my RP skills don't translate well in a CRPG. Lots of fun. Highly recommended!

Been playing here for a very long time now and love it.
A few selling points: No forced PvP, no forced roleplay, no being babysat by DMs.
If you just want to relax a bit, you can solo with no one bothering you, or you can get a group with many of the friendly players.
Appearance Changer
Kaedrin's Content
Quickstart (you may level new characters to level 7 quickly after getting your initial character to lvl 10)
And much more.

Fun action PW. Very easy for PW newbie like myself to get into. The only downside about it is the lack of aesthetically interesting exteriors.

Excellent PW. Awesome content and helpful players/admin. This was the first PW I tried and the only one I've truly enjoyed.

Nice people, good concept and story. I dont understand why there isnt a larger community playing on the server.

I'm played on this server, even though the community was small, the players were helpful and nice. That's very important when playing on a new server, its easy to get lost.

Fantastic action server. There are flaws here and there, but certainly not on the technical aspect of the server. All custom content is wonderfully blended together in a clean game environment with many new classes, and feats.
It is very straight-forward, so if you are a beginner looking to learn how to play an online server, this is a great place to be. Easy custom content installation via Worldgate allows for a very user-friendly process to getting yourself set up to play here.
Make no mistake, however, this is a pure, clean, and simple action server. You will never have a problem logging on to find somewhere to go, something to do, or quests to solve. You may have trouble finding people around to help, but as with every server, it takes time to grow. A unique aspect to this type of action server, however is the custom content, but more than anything, it is the loot table and XP scale. Items mean something here, and most items are very customizable. The XP is hard-earned, but not exrutiatingly so.
There are numerous quests to take on, though all of them simple, do not mistake this for easy. Also, this is still a new server by the scope of things, thus quests will evolve and more intricate ones be put in place, I am sure.
The visuals are the most glaring negative to the server. Very little texturing offers little to no eye-candy in area design, however, for slower machines, less RAM, or if your video card isn't a beast, this is a very pleasent change for some users. There is also absolutely no RP at all, so do not go into this expecting any such thing. It truly is built like a "massive multiplayer online" world; designed with that mindset exactly.
I rate this just above an 8. It is an excellent server, and I recommend it to anyone who wants the following:

I've really enjoyed spending my time on this PW. The people are really friendly and the gameplay is challenging and rewarding.
A lot of time obviously goes into it and the developer not only seeks player feedback, but responds to it. Each area offers a challenge of a diiferent kind.
Definitely worth a visit for anyone looking to get into online play.

Look around for a while and I need an approval for this and that and play on their schedule... blablabla
That PW as everything and more... Got support from other people like Kaedrin just to name one... The support is there, I'm there ans so should you.

Having tried multiple PWs I'd have to say that this one is the most refreshing. No gear here is too overpowered...you get an appreciation for the skills and spells, a level is more rewarding, and death means something...without gimping you.
One thing that really sets this PW apart is that a lot of thought is put into everything, and it shows.
My only complaint is that the dev is spread too thin and could use more help. But after seeing the quality of DMs in various other PWs I can tell that only very few would cut it here.
Anyone can create a map, "borrow" other people's work, or make minor alterations to the stanard fare of mobs. More than any other PW I have played thus far, I would recommend this to anyone.
By no means is this PW perfect. But it clearly is a masterpeice, and genuinely groundbreaking. By NWN2 voting standards, that earns it a 10.

Short version - IMO, what really separates PWs are the systems used, and LDoA has several excellent systems in place which serve as a solid base to create a fun gaming experience. Items and mobs are generally well balanced. If you enjoy hack'n slash PWs without constant PvP or multiple 5d6 elemental weapons, I'd recommend LDoA. Current content is effectively limited to early epic levels.
The score is based on potential, but it's potential based on systems which are already in place.
XP debt - I'm used to death systems where you die and lose several hours of gaming if not worse. The XP debt system's a great way to make death hurt without making a player feel like they've wasted several hours of their gaming time. Wish more PWs would implement this system.
Nytur's - The battle system pits your side against some mobs and it's up to you to even the odds. Great fun. Kinda made me feel like I were playing Diablo again or an RTS. System has a lot of potential.
Kaedrin's - For those bored with the vanilla experience and those who enjoy tinkering with new feats and classes, K's goodies brings a lot of fun to the game.
Items - Balanced for the most part without being low magic.
The runic enhancement system allows players to customize their gear, but at the same time forces players to choose between offense and defense because of the limited number of runes. System does favor casters though.
If you focus most of your runes on a single item, you can get a +5 item. A weapon can also have up to two 1d6 bonus elemental damage.
Stat boosting gear can go up to +6 base for most items, +8 for cha because it occupies the cloak slot which is shared with the cloak of fortification. There's one rune that can be used to increase the max by +2. This isn't as unbalanced as it may seem because mobs are properly balanced to account for players with this kind of gear. Most of this stuff has to be acquired by boss farming and each boss has a drop limit to ensure that highbies aren't farming lower level bosses constantly.
Additionally regen items (currently one with +1 regen and a host of penalties) and immunities (single helm with poison immunity) are tightly controlled.
Certain areas also have a random loot generation system, which again brings back memories of Diablo.
Quest rewards - You get custom feats and enhancement runes as quest rewards, not a tiny sum of gold or even smaller amount of XP you could've grinded for just as easily. Makes quests worth doing.
The feats aren't the ones you get at level up either. One lets you summon a merchant, another lets you rest anywhere, a few teleport related feats, and one is a combat feat. Each one has a 48 min cooldown.
Mobs - Somewhat lacking in variety. Because of AI incompetence, Lou favors melee spawns, so most of what you'll be up against will be straight fighter types. This is one reason why I enjoy Nytur's so much. Lots of casters and spawn variety there.
AC, AB, and saves scale properly so that stuff will generally be a challenge for the level range they're intended for.
Because AC scales properly, this is one of the few PWs where I'd say combat expertise is a poor investment because you can't hit them and they can't hit you. Power attack has a similar problem, compounded by the need for a shield.
Rest rules - None for the most part, except in certain dungeons where resting has to be done in certain safe locations.
Lou - The guy behind LDoA. The kind of dev who sticks to his guns, but also seeks and makes use of player input. One of the coolest PW devs out there IMO. Think this reflects in the attitudes of the type of players he attracts which other players above have already commented on.

Been playing here for quite a while now. Out of all of the servers (most of the action servers) that I've tried, this is the one that I keep coming back to. The content is top notch and the admin is responsive to player input and feedback.
If I was forced to choose only one server to play on, this would be it. I highly recommend dropping by and giving it a shot.

Ok, been playing for a few months now and I am really impressed. Very nicely done Hack&Slash server, Veteran players are very friendly, there are both non-repeatable core quests and repeatable quests that keeps you interested. Overall the server is well balanced with some nice custom powers/feats. I think the sever is still relatively new and I think there is more content on the way but so far my experience has been great!! Oh did I mention that the Admin is extremely helpful? I have found that you dont always get that on every server. . . .

I've been playing on here for a few days now and it is a very well done server. Everyone has been friendly and the planned additions sound like it will continue to get better and better.

This is my favorite PW. I'm known as Beldar over there. I'd vote 10, but nothing is perfect. Lots of good content and friendly players. The action can be pretty repetitive, but that is the nature of the beast...

NEAT! Simple, effective, elegant design. Only server I know of that makes +1 items useful but does not limit you to them. Very responsive to player base. _________________________ NTB's Hills and Valleys Vol. 00
