Description
The Forgotten Realm is a delicate balance of Role-Play Story and Action, with multitudes of solo, party and DM quests. We anticipate all towns and factions to be completely player run and directed and want our player community to help us shape and evolve the world.

was once a good server
then the dms who started it lost interest.

Yeah, now the staff have access to the server, and can upgrade it with hardware and software. Loads of new areas. New quests. New look. New management. A few old staff still there to bring back the good old days.

Heh, I really hope you were there for everything that happened, and aren't just jumping to conclusions out of just liking the server now. When a DM bans you because they feel like it, there really is an issue, sorry to say. Especially when they don't even bother checking the reason they claim to be banning for...
But that's besides the point. Apparently it's all under new management now from what some old buddies say, and hopefully it turns out alright. Wish the new DMs all the luck in the world in setting the server straight again; it was really a fun place 'til everything got turned upside down by a few who couldn't handle the power/responsibility that came with DMing.
No score this time 'cause I haven't bothered checking in on it since.

Sounds to me like Grisome is someone who got banned for a reason.
Free speech is a great thing, but I am sure that lying and spreading rumors isn't good for a server. And from what I can tell from the post, you seem like someone who would create a new account to spread rumors. Forums arn't about free speech, but rather a format for people to expand their thoughts and ideas, if they can't do that in a "civil" manner and follow the rules of the forum, they get banned. Besides, TFR has been around for a long, long time, and I don't think servers with attitudes like you are discribing would still be around after a month. TFR has been around for 3+ years.
Every server has problems, but when you look past the problems, you can see the gold that is underneath.

Server is now stable and resets every 24 hours and some players are returning Hope things keep going forward "fingers crossed" oh the censorship thing sucks on the forums but then most Forums suck when it come to being able to say whatever you like be it true or not. _________________________ Sarn l' olath alu fotus ulu l' isto phor lu' Ssuth l' cress d' ulnen, Ji quarthen l' Orbdrinus Sen

My first NWN2 server. I really enjoyed it; the players were, for the most part, friendly. It had its fair share of good RPers, and in the beginning, it was easy to get into plots (whether DM-driven, or player-driven).
However, recently, due to new staff, it has gone down hill, fast.
Any criticism, even constructive, is deleted without reasoning (I do not believe "ZOMG U WERE BASHING DMS!" when that was not the case can be considered reasoning). Censorship is off the charts, but only for one side. A DM can freely post a provoking, argumentative reply, and then when the person they were 'attacking' responds, that persons post would be deleted... while the DM's gets to stay.
Then, they go about banning people with no warning, and come up with equally lame excuses.
In fact, they even ban based on ASSUMPTIONS. Yes, someone was banned for using 'multiple accounts to bash TFR'. But they were not, and it is apparent the staff didn't even LOOK INTO IT to see if it was in fact the same person on different accounts. Otherwise the banning wouldn't have occurred, because it would have been discovered that the two accounts were not from the same source...
They refuse to believe that they may be wrong in some instances. The "my way or the highway" attitude is not a good one to have. There is no professionalism: whether it be from kicking someone off the DM team, or banning someone, no formal message is given.
The only redeeming qualities the server may have would be the few good players who may be sticking around, as well as some nice areas. And there may be one or two DMs left who aren't complete power-hungry maniacs, but they're probably gonna be booted at some point too by the others, so.
Anyway, any of the good features are all for nothing until the staff grow up.

Ok so the whole not being able to post was a glitch my bad but I stand by my other statements the server really needs a mature responsible team that do more than log in to help some friends out, Matta and Plague are a good start but its definatly not enough to have a dm and a dev and thats all praying things improve soon. _________________________ Sarn l' olath alu fotus ulu l' isto phor lu' Ssuth l' cress d' ulnen, Ji quarthen l' Orbdrinus Sen

Needs better Staff who listen to player concerns (especially if those players have been plaing a year 16 hours a day 7 days a week trying to keep the whole underdark going because the DM team wouldnt touch it) And it does need the crashing to stop. Dms that actually know how to make a plot arc that doesnt just benifit the guild they run. Oh and to those who read this from TFR I cant post there anymore and never even got an Email to say why tryed to PM Selpy but it wouldnt let me do that ethier I havent Left it so to say as much as Pray for things to actually get done there if you look back on the posts here you will see many who praise it who have now left it because of these issues, Grisome, Narkona, Taylorstar, Product Of The Void, these all still play Neverwinter Nights 2 just not on TFR anymore and Two of those had been staff I expect this will get me banned but when I was silenced on the TFR forum for trying to address what needed fixing to stop people leaving and save a server I truly had come to call home without so much as a reason well I wont be silenced.
PS Hari for F#$K Sake sell the server to someoe who will actually care for it and soon it would be a shame if it was lost after all that work. _________________________ Sarn l' olath alu fotus ulu l' isto phor lu' Ssuth l' cress d' ulnen, Ji quarthen l' Orbdrinus Sen

The server has definitely come a long way. I've been on TFR for a couple of years now. I have even greatly enjoyed a few other servers. But TFR will always be my "home away from home".

Great server, but beginning is hard for newer players. Nonetheless still worth checking out.

Excellent server, like most it is not without its hiccups such as game crashing which they are working on fixing. Highly recommend if you want a good community of roleplayers and friendly people!

Overall, a great server. Most players are great roleplayers, though every server does have it's oddballs. The DMs are helpful, and it is not too difficult to get started and jump right into RP. The new development team is working hard to update areas and create new things to see on the server.
The most notable low of the server would have to be the crashes, they do happen occasionally. But having played there for two years, I can say that it's worth it to give TFR a try.
Of course, it does have the occasional crashing issue,

I've played on TFR for two years now, and I've played on other servers one of which had some nice features but the player/dm atmosphere didn't really appeal to me. During my time here I've come to meet some great rpers many of whom I'd consider a friend, and I've come to see some leave for other things, ie real life or such. What has kept me here so long is the players, though the recent updates to the server are a nice addition, it's the general overall friendly atmosphere that has kept me faithful to TFR all this time as well as the many enjoyable rp encounters I've had while here. Now, that's not to say that there are not a few bad apples in the bunch, but one will find such wherever they go. It's unavoidable. The DM's do what they can to weed out the bad seeds, but they can't be everywhere at once.
TFR has for the most part a helpful, friendly playerbase and DM Staff. Plenty of areas to explore. New updates to older areas are in the works, as well as the expected update to the server software and hardware that should hopefully take care of the constant crashes. There is plenty of opportunity Character vs Character/Evil vs Good conflict, though pvp is by ic or ooc consent.

This server is outstanding. Lots of DM involvment in a good way. Lots of RP and action. A good combination of both. No nerfs to classes which is a huge winner in my book.

Good news TFR Fans and observers looking for a home! TFR is in the process of upgrading hardware in an unexpected twist, a bigger hard drive, a better OS. will vastly increase server stability and loading times to no end.

Joined the TFR server about a month ago...and I'm nicely hooked! Excellent world, large and diverse. Lots to do and some great RP. Rp aside, its a good mix of players, "grinders" and RPers alike. I've been enjoying my time there a lot :D

I've been playing on TFR for some time now, and like many on line role players I have had my ups and downs on this server and several others. I don't always agree, but I feel that on TFR I am always heard. I cannot say that of the other servers I have tried.
IMHO this is a server that offers both action and role play. I feel that over the last year, role play has taken more of a front seat, which for me is a good thing, but TRF is not a hardcore RP server.
When I first started playing, I did not expect to 'rule the world' inside of a couple of days, weeks or months. I suspect a lot of the 'nay-sayers' often have that sort of expectation.
Now that I have been around for some time, and have had a couple of role play developed characters become significant, I still don't 'rule the world' because it's not that kinda place.
TFR is a very big place, the largest PW for NWN2 if I am not mistaken, as well as being one of the oldest. Every time Obsidian patches, it cause server instability. It's just a fact. Blaming the volunteer administrators, who spend most of their time working to solve the Obsidian created issues, seems a bit short sighted to me (not to mention it's their wallets who pay for the server and not the players).
If you are the sort of player who wants to log into a PW and be pronounced 'King Badarse' then TFR is really not for you.
If you are the sort of player who is interested in joining a community of players, of adding to the rich established history and working with others (even if you are a 'bad guy') to create adventures for everyone to enjoy, then this is the place you have been looking for ... come join us _________________________ -Gildren

i enjoy playing on the forgotten realm as it offers good roll-play especially when people suddenly find themselves in the same area at the same time for different reasons. It is a Masterpiece, Genuinely Groundbreaking and has great visual SFX.
