Looking forward for the improved version, which I would like to add to my own terrain hak (see link in my dignature).

Yup....I'm of the same idea of Cazas...really too much reflective ones...and in some cases...well...too much Normal mapping...I mean...too deep^^ Foliage textures (i don't remember the correct name) seem to be wrapped in a plastic vacuum-packed pack XD take a look

Hey there, the textures look nice but they reflect too much lightning, any way to fix this?

Posted by Morrandir at 2007-05-16 07:29:09
Any news on that?

Grr, forgot to say... You should get this moved to the appropriate catagory (as the previous poster stated). I've missed this many times 'cause I wasn't looking for textures under haks.

Posted by TheAxeman at 2007-02-19 17:05:19    Voted 9.00 on 02/19/07
Great package. Everything required to DO IT RIGHT (hak will be killer when made!). This should be the starting point for a community tileset project! Thanks!

Posted by CTP_Team at 2007-02-12 11:00:02
This 'pack' should be titled under 'textures', not under 'hakpacks' which it truly isn't, otherwise it will get totally lost.

Ask Maximus to move it for you. As it was, when I searched for it, using 'textures' it never showed up. I had to dig back through the 'news' to find it. Surely, NOT want you wish to happen.

Posted by Juason at 2007-02-03 09:51:03
Unless the owner fixes the textures, you're players will never see them in game (assuming they are using Normal Mapping). Sorry.

Posted by valsharessofthechosen at 2007-02-01 18:32:48
how do you make this so that your players can see the terrain in game? all i get is people telling me they cant seee it... do you have a .hak file? I dont even know how to make one

Posted by Juason at 2007-02-01 12:06:07
Alright I think I know what you did wrong.

Obsidian uses 3 textutures for terrains.

Name.dds - base terrain
Name_n.dds - Normal mapping
Name_c.dds - Normal mapping base.

You are missing the _c files, so all you end up getting is some normal mapping alpha channels sitting atop Missing Texture blobs.

Now, after studying what Obsidian did - Name.dds and Name_c.dds are NOT the same. It seems they reduced or changed the quality of the texture when using Normal Mapping. So, I'm not sure if duplicating the Name.dds terrains to Name_c.dds would be advisable.

I'll probably fix our textures until you are able to come up with a fix. But I thought I'd let you know what was wrong in the meantime. Thanks again.

It isn't just us right? I've got confirmation that Normal Mapping isn't working with TME textures on 5 peoples' machines now. I am just suprised this wasn't mentioned earlier.

I saw some links earlier on the forums for adding normal maps to textures. I'm not sure at this point if it is a bug with NWN2 and custom terrain, or if the normal mapping was done incorrectly.

Posted by clubok at 2007-01-31 19:59:40
Juason: I wasn't responding to your comment about normal maps not working, but rather to the comment in the description that this "will be a HAK as soon as a working Hak-Utility is available." I realize that I was unclear on this. Sorry, but I don't have anything useful to say about the normal map problem either.

It looks like the normal mapping isn't functioning correctly on the terrain. Perhaps something else needs to be done above and beyond the conversion to a dds file? I'm really not sure :(

Posted by Phex at 2007-01-31 05:48:34
I will check out this error as soon as possible. Any ideas what the problem is ?

Yes I know that. However putting them into a Hak pack won't suddenly make them Normal mapped will it?

The new 1.04 toolset also has the TME textures get replaced by Missingtexture blocks if I enable Normal Mapping inside of it. I'm thinking something went wrong during the creation process? If not, could someone tell me how to get them working on a system with normal mapping please?

This isn't just my system, every one of our developers is reporting these textures don't work if normal mapped terrain is enabled. Thanks!

Posted by clubok at 2007-01-29 21:22:35
Although there is no official hak utility out yet, there are two ERF utilities available in the NWN2 Tools section: ERFinder and Encapsulated Resource File Editor. You should be able to use either of these to make a HAK file.

Your terrains aren't supporting Normal Maps. At least, when I turn them on in game, all the textures get replaced with Missing texture blocks. Has anyone else experienced this? I won't be able to use them until it is fixed. Thank you.

Damn it! I just realized I've already been voting for this. Oh well, hopefully some kind administrator pulls this second vote off the table... ;)

Casting my vote now, love the grass dirt texture, I hope you add more nice textures to your pack. Thanks for your hard work.

Hey Phex, I figured out my problem, need to turn off use standard textures in game options. Anyway still love your work. Keep up the great job.

Love the Textures, I wished obsidian would have put more textures in. I hope they change the 6 texture limit to 10. Anyways I'm having problems using your textures in mod. It works fine when I'm in the toolset laying down some of your great textures, but after I bake the area and test the area, the textures are replaced with red/yellow boxes, texture is missing. Not sure what to do to resolve this. Are the textures for the presale tool only ?

Posted by Parat at 2006-10-30 02:28:28    Voted 8.50 on 10/30/06
Yes, this certainly is a godd start .. more desperately wanted :)

Good effort! I´m sure there will be swarming of new terrain textures very soon, so this should be the first of many. With the possibility to make our playworlds as realistic as we now can with this amazing toolset, I gladly fill my terrain map with more options. Thank you for this!
