King Meredyn lies in his castle feverishly ill. There is no heir to the throne and no clear line of succession. The lands of Eldos lie on the brink of chaos. What can the adopted child of a tavern keeper do that might change the fate of the Kingdom?
This campaign is recommended for 1 player. The story is aimed towards a level 1 human character of any class.
Revision history:
v1.0.3
* Autosave before doing the module transition. Just in case.
* Reworked ship transition scripts to make them more robust.
* Use different method for walkmesh helper that won't cause script lag and potentially abort a critical event.
* Fixes to Jox conv.
* Made a couple doors unpickable.
* Lowered detect DC for secret doors.
* Modified some speak trigger parameters to make them more reliable.
v1.0.2
* Fixed Dyn conv bug that broke the scent quest.
* Fixes to Koskos and Kosma convs to plug some holes that could have broken continuity.
* Reduced size of Serpent River Delta slightly.
* Made Kosma human and reset her feats accordingly. Yes, human, by design, tyvm.
* Other minor tweaks.
v1.0.1
* Fixed autosaves. They were totally broken.
* Created item that allows players to toggle the autosave feature.
* Fixed module OnClientEnter to only purge equipment the first time you enter.
* Fixed outro cutscene to end the game properly.
* Changed transition-to-boat scripts slightly to help prevent timing problems that some people have had.
* Minor dialogue addition to Noose.
* Minor addition of placeables to Old Hogg.
* Added XP bonus for avoiding the fire trap.
Just starting this out, so far looks promising. Just a couple of things: In the ship navigation map, it would be helpful to have some idea of what you're supposed to be doing (i.e., moving the ship to the exit). Also, with only one option of what to do here, the are seems a bit pointless. Sir Gerold (sp?) would have probably recovered a lot better on the island if when he was laying in bed, there wasn't a giant wooden bear statue on top of him! Seriously, what is up with that? I have to assume it was some sort of mistake or glitch. Lastly, and this is a personal pet peeve, can we please call a moratorium on the cliched-to-death-rats-in-the-cellar quests? Please?

Just played it through. EXCELLENT adventure for a starting player. I found it a bit linear, but the linearity allowed you to create some very cinematic moments. Honestly, I felt as much or more for the characters in this short adventure as I did for most of those in the gigantic NWN2 Original Campaign. Wonderful storytelling all around. I'm very much looking forward to the next chapter!

I'm surprised this module isn't rated a little higher than it is. While the plot certainly won't win any prizes for originality, the writing is solid, the storytelling engrossing, and the design as a whole rather impressive. Areas are nicely put together, the difficulty balance (with one notable exception) is spot on, and in contrast to some other voters I actually found the companions a real pleasure; they might be somewhat classical (okay, clichéd) but they're also extremely well-realised. The pacing of the story is great throughout; few modules have drawn me in with the strength of their narrative quite so well. In addition to great writing, this module is a technical treat, especially for such an early module. While the ships and fishing don't really add much, they're still fun and different. The module's weaknesses are its slightly unpolished feeling in spots, and more importantly, its lengthiest action section, which is plagued by enemies that respawn on top of the party. I didn't enjoy the fire cave at all; at the very least, the player should be able to take a shortcut back to the exit rather than wading through enemies they've killed once already. It's just a chore, and nobody enjoys having their time wasted. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by this module ? I think it's better than its current score suggests, my reserved scoring practices aside ? and I would love to see a sequel if the author ever decides to create one.

Started at level 1 and ended just shy of level 4 - but there was a bit of experience that I missed, so it is possible to reach 4. Companions - 3 fighter types, all human, one of which has a level of Rogue and Able Learner, I think, and a wolf or a dog. Said canine levels like a normal companion, but you have to "talk" to him to level him up rather than go through the menu. You get them before any serious fighting starts. The mod was bug-free with patch 1.6, which is an accomplishement, since it has some innovative scripting - sea travel, non-combat quests etc. There was little use of skills beyond UMD to use a magical item and Lore to identify things. Thankfully, loot is quite sparse in comparison to other mods I have played - which given the levels and the story makes excellent sense. Companions are decently characterized - the dog/wolf is adorable. They have some fitting dialog throughout and "react" sensibly to the events. Generally, dialog is more polished than in most other mods, although it is also quite linear. Combat is limited to 1 major encounter and 2 enemy-infested areas, which was reasonable and rather refreshing. Rest is restricted, but fairly - and I have to say that on the highest difficulty one combat area had me on the edge of my chair and it was a great relief (in a glowing way), to win through to the resting place and then back. Overland exploration isn't rewarded, but underground one is. Areas are very nicely built IMHO. It also seemed to me that there are some new audio effects, but I may be wrong. There are not many side-quests, but they are all very amusing and have interesting scripting. The story may not be particularly original, but it is well told in dialogs, events and cutscenes, reaching a very satisfying conclusion - for a first module in a series that likely won't be continued. Still, it is a good module to start a character on. All in all, this module feels more polished than most others and has a lot of entertaining, original stuff, but it is also rather linear and doesn't allow much character expression. I enjoyed it thoroughly, though.

A really fun module with some cool innovations. First module that I played as a Human (I usually play as an Elf), which was perfect with the story (as per FalloutBoy's recommendation). Although linear, this module has the right stuff to get you into being a prince on the run, meeting cool companions on the way, and rescuing the girl.. SPOILERS PROS: Very nice areas that made sense within a tight story-driven structure. I liked the villages, the fishing, and the ship travel. It was cool to be the unknown then hunted prince. The companions were great and their conversation really added to the realism of the story (I loved the ship Captain). CONS: The two warring island peoples were too elvish in appearance for me if this going to be a Human adventure. It was also too short; just when I was really immersed and ready to get on to the city it was over. I wished I could have learned more about the Island peoples and also maybe had a crack at wasting the wizard that that killed one of the companions. Overall, a fun, interesting module that everyone should play. Good work FalloutBoy! I'm looking forward to playing the next chapter in this tale. _________________________ "You take a look around and you see that the law is there only to protect power. The difficulty for low level was frustrating in parts. (the fire caves in particular). on the other hand, the mini games were creative and the story interesting, in a classic fantasy sense.

Great module. But many bugs made critical crashes to my computer. That is not good at all. Hope to see next episode.

Nice module overall. Loved taking the pigs for a walk. I didn't explore every part of the maps, but I can't really see a reason for the "Mature" rating. Thumbs up!
