*UPDATE*
All reported bugs have been fixed in 2.16, including companions failing to gather the proper XP.

Our interpretation of the classic B2 module from TSR. There are similiarities and differences between this and B2. Players expecting an exact conversion will not find it here!
Playing this one right now, years after it was made, and while verrry simplistic it works well enough.
If anyone who knows ís still paying attention, I have a bug I havent seen described in comments yet: I cannot step through the Inner Bailey gate. There is no way to pass through it. Causes a bit of a bother.

Quite a nice module! I really enjoyed playing through it, although a few things quite shocked me.

Very solid old school revamp!
I did have a bug at the end where it seemed to end rather abrubtly.

I really enjoyed this module and think its a brilliant adventure to introduce new players to NWN2. I set it up in a LAN configuration and went through in a muliplayer mode. Reminded me of 1981

Really nice looking pretty mod.

As others have remarked, I also found this rather bland. Spent a lot of time running around the Keep trying to find someone with something interesting to say. Eventually spoke to the head watchman, collected the priestess, and went out to explore the caves. The priestess died in the first proper encounter and I didn't find any means of getting her back. I pressed on and "completed" the module, but lack of the priestess character for the final encounter probably messed things up.
I didn't encounter any bugs and as far as I could tell everything worked as it should (except the aforementioned ending).
I felt that I could only give this a vote for being a solid but unremarkable module.

A little bit confusing and messed up at times. Caves shouldn't be at ground level. Some bugs. Hard on multi-player. _________________________ The road to Ravenloft is paved with good intentions.

Played your other mods, and thought i'd give this one a try too. I can honestly say its not as good as your other ones (ravenloft and casino) but you posted it in 2007 and still maintain it so it seems to be a work in progress.
i played the newest version, and didnt encounter any bugs. i still found the mod fun and a very good entry level jaunt for my character. not bland at all actually....the areas were very nicely built.
my largest complaint is that in the original B2, the caves of chaos were much larger and mouch more thorough. that was really what was keeping this from being outstanding.

Fair, solid yet unremarkable.
I fixed the companion xp issue myself, and the module was playable. I found the areas very plain, and as everyone seems to agree, bland.

The whole feeling of this module is bland. I felt no excitement, became too bored and quit. There isn't any life in the townsfolk and monsters. Having said that much good work has still been done. The keep is well layed out and populated and almost everything is scripted well. It seems the only problem I found was that the NPCs didn't gain experience. I played this a couple weeks back so maybe the writer has breathed more life into the characters by now. If not, that would greatly improve a well functioning module.
Sorry I didn't catch your original post in time. Besides bug fixes, we haven't added much to the original module since then. We will, however, do a service release once our newest (post ravenloft) mod comes out. We appreciate your interest in our stuff, and hope you enjoy the Ravenloft mod (considerably moreso than this one, hehe) _________________________ Most recent... Sorry, but I didn't notice any changes since my original run despite all the updates. Maybe all the modifications were done to the caves. My interest wasn't held enough to get that far. I'm leaving the score at a notch above "merit, requires improvements."
I am eager to play your Ravenloft module, however, and will judge it on its own merits.

Will be re-trying this soon. I've noticed the constant upgrading and that your second release has scored over a 9.
If nothing else, I'll probably bump my original score up a point or two for your constant attention to the people playing the module. And I must say that you have some of the politest responses to complaints I've ever seen!

heh I was looking at your ravenloft mod and I noticed that you created this mod as well. This was the first module that I used for my level 1 cleric that is now a lvl 16 cleric/monk/sacred fist that I have used over the course of 6-7 modules. I can say that I liked it, since it was a good introduction to my character's personality and her skills. The module was pretty well designed, and pretty well balanced. I give it an 8 for anyone wanting to start a new character on the good side :) _________________________ -------------Role Player since 1997-------------
You have enough serious problems that I don't want to try rating this yet.
1. Companions don't earn experience.
(spoiler alert)
2. You can't seem to be able to talk to the crazy prisoner a third time. Since (determined by dropping the key into my inventory with an editor and then entering the cage) he has the key, progress seems to be blocked. He's too far away to pickpocket. (I added a level 19 Neeshka with an item that boosted her maxed thieving skills +20 to my party to check this.) _________________________ Gorian would be pleased by your actions

As a standalone adventure it was decent, but as an adaptation of Keep on the Borderlands it doesn't quite succeed. A realistic portrayal of the cave "ecosystem" from the original pencil and paper module would have made the adaptation more interesting.

I didn't play the PnP version of this mod, but it has the flavour of the 1st edition D&D scenarios. I haven't noticed any major flaws, and I had a good time playing it. A good way to level up a new character.
Lord Zayphar,

We're sorry that you didn't enjoy the mod. Some people did like it, though - and i wouldnt say the votes were overly generous. Regardless, he building of this mod taught our team a lot about the NWN toolset and helped us iron out some workflow issues. We consider it a great learning experience and we try to "up the bar" with every consecutive thing we release. Thanks for the feedback, we do appreciate it. _________________________ Most recent... ENoa4's version of this mod is much superior! Skip this and play that one.
In fact, the title here is highly misleading. This is not "B2 The Keep on the Borderlands". This is merely something vaguely based on that the general idea of the module; and a poor shadow at that.
The mod starts off reasonably well at the keep, but quickly deteriorates into practically nothing at the Caves of Chaos. It seems like the authors just quit about 1/3 of the way through. Many of the Keep encounters are amusing, but there is no interaction with the master of the Keep, and the side quests at the Keep have been significantly pared down.
The caves are supposed to be the meat of this module, but are almost nothing at all. The valley geography bears no relation to one the best things of the original; the highly creative and intriguing layout of cave entrances. The interior cave design is very, very, VERY simplistic and the humanoid enemies are few and weak. There are no secret passages (one of the great features of Gygax's original) connecting areas of the vast maze-like tunnels, and one of the few encounters, the crazy prisoner, is unfinished. Even more disturbing is how the mod just comes to an abrupt end with no resolution.
I have played 40+ NWN & NWN2 mods from the vault over the years; some magnificent, some real stinkers, most in between. I rarely feel the need to vote unless the current score seems far off. This score is just wrong. If one is inclined to be generous (very generous indeed) I can see how it might score as much as 6.00. But I am currently neither generous nor drunk, so I must give it a 4.00.
Play the ENoa4 version. Skip this one.

A solid re-creation of the PnP classic. A few of the encounters should be fleshed out better (e.g. the hermit) but overall a very nice L1 romp for multiplayer.
Also, many spelling and grammar errors in need of editing (all the printings of B2 I've found say "Castellan").

What I like in this little module is the feeling that I would play first time in my life. It is not even meant to be a grand, epic adventure, just something that first-timers can beging with. _________________________ A good module author is PAG: Patient, Ambitious and Gutsy.
Thanks for playing. What you brought up is one of the largest issues we've had making this module. B2 is relatively bland, we wanted to add new and fresh ideas - but still wanted to keep it close to the source. The end result is a mix of old and new, and perhaps too much of the original.
