2. Move the "EPICCAMPAIGN" folder from the "campaigns" to your "campaigns" folder (e.g. "c:\My Documents\Neverwinter Nights 2\campaigns")
[OPTIONAL: Download and install TonyK's Companion and Monster AI 2.1]
3. Start NWN2, select new Campaign and select Epic Campaign
6. Enjoy Epic level 30 action :)
Play Time: 3-8 hours
==============================
1.2 required to play ==============================
What is needed to play the Epic Campaign?
- Neverwinter Nights 2
- Mask of the Betrayer
- Storm of Zehir
- latest patch (currently Patch 1.23)
This difficulty of the Campaign has been increased - a single character shouldn't be able to win, but please for AO's sake try it :)
You can hire a couple of henchmen or add your own companions via the "Skeletal books". I have included 5 builds that can beat the campain together.
[Leader/Caster] Annika (Red Wizad/ASoC with Rogue Skills and Necromancy Focus)
[Melee] Lars (F/Brd/RDD/WM build with Falchion to overcome damage resistance)
[Caster/Animal] Elanee (Caster Druid with Epic Dino Companion)
[Caster/Melee] Kyle (Favored Soul/Pal with Epic Divine Might)
[Sneak/Skills] ShadowCat (Rogue/Ranger/SD for Traps/Locks and Track)
They all have "nice" MotB like equiptment and Spells already selected.
You can also buy the help/soul of Guinevere (a lvl 30 Panther - think Guenhwyvar sister, but she doesn't need to go back to the Astral Plane) later in the Game.
Hints: - You can budy basic +5/+7 equiptment at the start, but you might want to have your characters already prepared
- the Campaign is designed for and with +7 AC / +8 Ability items
- At the end of the module you will have a choice that can shatter the very foundation of all planes of existence, think about what you do...
- Some places have little lightning, cast "Light" or take a torch if it's to dark for you. (Or is your lvl 30 Wizard not able to cast a Cantrip?)
- Skills are used to give you additional options, but are not necassary. Although they can heavy repercussions (like make you rich!?!).
TonyK's AI: You really should install Link - Tony_K's Companion and Monster AI 2.1. It is a much better gaming experience.
If you do that, make sure to activate these settings under the behaviour tab as soon as you are in the module:
- MONSTER STEALTH = ON
- MONSTERS USE MEDIUM AND LONG TIME BUFFS = Medium ON
This should increase the difficulty by a nice amount. (And make your companions better as well.)
Dying: If your Main Character dies, which you should try to prevent, you don't have to load or quit. You can press load and then cancel and wait for one of your companions to ressurect you (works only if they have a Ressurection Spell/or Rod and are still alive)
==============================
3. Other Stuff ==============================
For this module I used the following Content from nwvault.ign.com:
==============================
4. History ==============================

- overhaul and updated for NWN2 Patch 1.23
- added the ability to add Companion in "SoZ-Style"

- removed the 3C stuff (makes the download easier and faster)
2.00
- changed name from "Epic Fighting Campaign" to "Epic Campaign"
- updated to NWN2/MotB Patch 1.12
- very major update on all content
1.10

I liked it very much. Specially the humor sense of the Tavern Owner Orc.
Also liked all the monsters and fights, a little difficult yet fun to play.
I recommend!
BTW, I finished your adventure with a single level 1 figher character, besides it was not a common level 1 figher character tho, it was CHUCK NORRIS.
Keep up the good work. _________________________

Not bad, not bad. I thought people were exaggerating the HP's of the enemies, I was pleasantly surprised to find they were not. Typo's can distract - slightly - and the random CAPSLOCK RAWR about put me over the deep edge.
Curious, my Devil's Tongue/Soul/Word/ etc look different then yours... and the purchasable hoods only come out looking like swashbuckler hats, sad day. Otherwise, I really have no complaints, even if the story was somewhat forced :P

After I finish the Trial and Terror, I really wanna try more epic level modules.
This module seems very fun.
But I was stuck at the beginning. After I cleaned up the rats in the inn, the barkeeper asked me to talk to his business partner in the warehouse and bring him some wine. However, when I got to the warehouse, I didnt see anyone or anything in there, except for a telephone. But the telephone doesnt work, either.
Is anybody able to help me? Thank you. I really wanna play this module.

I've finished Chapter I, and now I'm ready to vote.
First the cons:
*** HEAVY SPOILERS ***
1. The story is severely lacking. After the initial quest, it gets plain straightforward, and practically nothing is explained. Why the Devil? I for one am not a D&D purist, and the idea of The Devil and Heaven in D&D just amuses me, but if you mention Ao, and then The Devil, it's just not entirely compatible together. If there was some explanation, ex. Mr D came from another dimension, or Ao was known somewhere else, I would be satisfied (*cough* Dark Waters *cough*).
And why would my character join Devil? After a taunt check? Come on... I played a heartless evil witch who works for noone. Not even the Devil.
Ummm, the Devil wasn't supposed to get involved, but he would gladly send hellish troops to openly assault mortals to gather the pieces?
And why would anyone had a teleporter device in their closet? For the demons to raid them? Heh. I would have trapped the damn thing if I were them. With epic holy traps.
Anyway, the story seems to be thrown in just for sheer fun of it. Don't mind me.
2. When I played, some areas were a bit... messy. Twice my game crashed. Animation stuttered. Too many enemies at once, I guess.
Or maybe because I was playing a party of 5. 6 sometimes.
3. Some areas had their prefab names visible on minimap.
4. Some enemies gave 1 exp for my 27/27/27/27/25 party. Namely Deathbringers, but also some Initiates. Some of them for some reason gave me 199 exp when killed. Also, the Initiates seemed to be very overpowered... My Assassin/Rogue/Ranger, scoring 4 sneak attacks in a row, totalling for more than 250 damage, didn't take them out when they were "near death". So when the rest of the party fell, she stood no chance, no matter how well she did hide in the shadows.
Now, the Pros:
1. After kobolds and rats, it really got more interesting. Plus for Deathbringers and epic warlock adversaries. They were fun to fight against (apart from their absurd hp). Battles *were* challenging indeed.
To the point I had to import my old character that finished MoTB in the most evil way. A badass, she was. I tell you that: this was the first time I felt it was right and fair to use that insta-kill she had. Even then, I had to reload twice.
No charging the enemy. Tactics were required. Not bad, not bad at all! Good job at that.
2. Nicely balanced epic fights. Continuation of the above. Most of the builders even don't pretend to bother with that. Lots and lots of modules aimed for 1st levels there are. Tsk, tsk. Again, you did a good job.
3. Nice areas. Yes, they are prefabs. But choosing the right ones is important too.
4. Despite what I wrote in my earlier posts, no game-stopping bugs. NPC not talking to me was my fault, I mistunderstood one thing.
5. Some neat things I liked. In no particular order: allied horned devils. The choice at the end. Base upgrades (I love upgrading stuff, even for upgrades sake...). Blue dragon merchant. Dialing home device.
All in all, it was fun to play as a hack and slash.
*** END SPOILERS ***

Well. I must say, that killing rats and kobolds over some "generic", and I mean "generic", quest, didn't catch my fancy. I won't vote, since Mr D doesn't respond to conversations anymore and I cannot complete the module. Not that I actually want to...
Harry Harrison once said, that the role of the first page of the book is to hook the reader. You did almost all you could to discourage me :) It's just a personal preference and taste, but let's count:
1. Monsters. My Velsharoon! The Elemental Plane of Rats had better critters than here. They're just normal rats levelled to 30. Evil rat? Reminds me of an epic Badger With Red Eyes from one NWN1 mod I played a year ago. Same for trolls. Same for kobolds. Didn't see more.
2. Conversations. They break the immersion to pieces and dance on its body. I don't mind grammar. I'm not a native speaker myself, and I don't give a *blip* about language purity. But don't expect me to play something where all the people don't care about anything. It's all dripping from the lines.
3. Actually just an extension of point 2. Please consider putting "Humorous/Parody" or something into "Module types". It's seriously missing from there.
That's what I can say about an hour of playing. That's why I won't vote - I didn't finish the module, so it would be unfair. I didn't want to be mean, but the beginning really disappointed me. To be honest, I found a few things very nice - the dragon conversation for example.
Well, I guess you did a good work here. I just didn't expect a total, complete parody. Peace.
Hello, I have also seen that weird bug with items display, mainly hats.
Also, there is something strange 'cos some characters look unable to visual-equip some weapons. Eg, I have given the monkey grip feat to my tempest druid, to hold both the spear and the sheld but, when he holds both of them, they are correctly diplayed in the inventory but the character is holding nothing in his hands in the "true" game. As well, my dwarven weapon master should holf a great axe but again he holds nothing even if the weapon is correctly located into the items menu. I had to "downgrade" to Dwarven Waraxe to have the weapond displayed, but that isn't so funny.
I don't know if this is a bug related with your mod, but thought it was the case to report it.

i had a good time with this. good stuff, lol. especially with the SOZ update.
Thanks for letting me know! I don't have SoZ so I guess I'll have to start again and hire the Mercs before the bartender relieves me of all my money lol. I can't even finish off those damn rats by myself....
Karen :)

@karen: I don't have a Mac and I tested it "only" under the latest Patch 1.23 (as the old version didn't work anymore for updated Games) - so you probably will need that Patch and of course MotB and SoZ. Otherwise the Skeleton Book (Party choosing SoZ Style) probably won't work.
You should have enough money to hire the Mercs before you talk to the Barkeeper, the leftovers from the start of the Campaign - also make sure you start the module by selecting it under Campaign -> Epic Campaign. _________________________ EPIC CAMPAIGN 3.00
I would really appreciate some help! I was so excited to find a mod where I could use my 30th level character, but I'm having a problem. Could you please tell me how to use the Skeletal books? Nothing happens when I try to use it in the inn at the beginning and although I got the money from "the old friend," I can't hire the pc's - it says I don't have enough money. I should mention that I'm on a Mac using 1.12.1295. Is this the problem? If so, do you have an earlier version that would work for me?
Thanks for any help you can provide.
Karen

Well, I promise you to continue playing and try to complete the mod, and then if the mod deserves it I promise you to vote it agein over the "1" I give it. But the first impression, after spending two precious huors of my time trying to kill rats and kobolds, was what it was. And if the rest of the mod it´s like the first part, I´m not disposed to spend more time in it.
Posted by TopAceOfEarth at 2009-08-24 11:07:25 Voted 10.00 on 08/29/09
@ Zhandigal: It's called humor. It's an homage to any RPG where the first quest is to kill these tiny animals in a cellar. And they are not that normal. Would it be fun if I just throw in some almost unbeatable Adamantium Golems that are immune to almost anything? That was supposed to be in Chapter 2, although I am not sure if I ever have the time to finish it.
It's only the intro - how far did you play? Did you meet the "one and only"? Did you get to your base of operations? Got all the pieces?
I'd appreciate it if you at least give it a real try and not vote on a mod just for the indroduction joke. I know that it may not be the best mod - but I tried to give it a bit of humor and make it at least a bit challenging. _________________________ EPIC CAMPAIGN 3.00

Your idea of an epic campaign to play it with characters of level 30 is to kill rats in a cellar? After defeating the Shadows King and talk with Myrkull, the next step is to defeat rats and kobolds? This mod is an absolute nonsense.

Ok it's been updated by the Vault: EPIC CAMPAIGN 3.00 (18.08.2009) is ready. Enjoy your download & playthrough.
Posted by TopAceOfEarth at 2009-08-19 01:32:20 Voted 10.00 on 08/29/09
I've finished the upload and waiting for the update to the file from the vault - please wait with the download until "Epic Campaign v3.00.7z" is available :)
@Zhandigal:
It is it's own story, no reference to the Knight Captain or the other Expansions. Memory Loss :p
You can play with a new character, you will be leveled to lvl 30 if you so choose. And you can get basic equiptment. But it's no problem if you already have a Character or a whole Party ready - just keep in mind that it is supposed to be challenging. +7 AC/ +8 Ability (post MotB may be to strong with +10 Items)
Party Hint:
A Rogue would help for Traps (~DC40) as well as a Wizard with dispelling spells/mords. You also need someone to deal damage - large amounts of damage. As mentioned above you can have 5 People in your Party and I've included 5 strong and ready characters that can beat the campaign. But you sure can try to do it with fewer. I guess you'll need at the very least 2 characters. But hey please try :)
I'm looking forward to feedback :) _________________________ EPIC CAMPAIGN 3.00

Hi!
What kind of story are we talking about? It continues the official campaign story? Can we play this mod with a new created characters (with high level, of course). Are any references to the Knight Captain or the Devour-spirits in it? Or not?
Posted by TopAceOfEarth at 2009-08-17 14:30:31 Voted 10.00 on 08/29/09
I finished removing the 3C stuff as well as fixing any known bugs and improving performance in the Inn. I'm going to give it a final run tomorrow and then I'm going to upload a 1.23 compatibly / SoZ Compatibly version where you can use your own party. Thanks. _________________________ EPIC CAMPAIGN 3.00

I'll try to update the module to 1.23 as soon as I finish my first playthrough of MoW - haven't played NWN2 in a while and am just getting back in the "d&d feeling" :) might take a week or 2 though. _________________________ EPIC CAMPAIGN 3.00
Are your character a Yuan-ti pure blood? This mod doesn't support any race from SoZ

nwm. i figured it out.

for some reason, when i play.....my PC is invisible and when i pull up the inventory, the game crashes. did i do something wrong? or is this not intended to play at version 1.22?
SPOILER: I have all 8 of the souls but when i talk to the forger he says that he could have made an epic one ring if i had the very souls in my pack. So he only gives me the normal ring. Please assist me with this problem.

@siryugi007: glad you are enjoying it :)
UPDATE FOR CHAPTER 2:
Chapter 2 will be even longer then Chapter 1, there will be 3 types of "Missions" you can take. It will be a mix of low and high magic items to make more use of each character builds abilities and not so much the items themselves.
- "Story-Missions" are for the storyline
- "AoD-Missions" are a special I'm not going to reveal right now :p
- "Arena-Missions" are Arenalike fights that'll earn you some money and another important ressource, let's call it "token" for simplistic reasons :) _________________________ EPIC CAMPAIGN 3.00

I really enjoyed this mod! I played a Palidin/rogue and had a pretty good fight. Those rats are like fighting M1A1 Abram's tanks! Like doomshade11 said "they have the same HP as adult Red Dragons"......LOL Loved it and hope you come out with a sequel. I love hack and slash but I love the "interaction" between NPC's the best. Very good storyline. Played 3 times and plan to play 1 more time !@ THX
