PLEASE NOTE THIS MODULE IS NOW SUPERCEDED BY "CONAN CHRONICLES 1 - THE BARBARIAN CHRONICLES" WHICH COMBINES THE FIRST THREE MODULES INTO A SINGLE CAMPAIGN
This is the third part of the Conan Chronicles that started with the adventure "Legions of the Dead" and continued with "The Scythian Pits".
This module describes your journey from the Gladiatorial Arena of Scythia across the Mountains of the Grey Apes towards civilised lands. You should preferably use a PC from the previous chapter and be around 12th level at this point.
Although the module is complete and playtested by me, it has to be considered at this stage a beta rather than a finished game, so be aware there may be unforeseen bugs still present. Also there may be some balancing issues.
In the end, I will probably combine this and the previous modules into one campaign.
The name and much of the story of this module is taken from the short story by de Camp and Carter, which I think is up there with Howard's original stories.
I recommend sticking with NWN v1.12 until damage bonus fixes for 1.13 are implemented.
Note that you also need the conan_chronicles.hak file, which can be downloaded from my previous module, "The Scythian Pits", if you have not already done so.
Obviously, please remove my previous versions of overrides from your override folder, and any other overrides that contain 2da files. They will break the game! (Just put them in the "override bak" folder temporarily, like you should do with every NWN2 update.)
This is the Robinson Workshop Deep Chasms hak, required for this module and included for convenience here. Put it in your My Documents/Neverwinter Nights 2/Hak folder
I can't find the hidden door as well, nor the lever, using z and search etc. Just wanted to say great, and loved the mountains and story, totally professional. Now i'll see if i can fix the hidden door.

Great Module, but am a little stuck. Am in area where I can kill the archers that shot at me when I ran over the bridge, but cant find a way back out. Is there a door someplace? Where is the end creature?

Any idea when or if there will be a part 4? I would LOVE to see more of the series =) _________________________ Stupidity kills people.

I have liked the whole series so far. One problem with #3. When falling into the river, I never get the drop equipment script. My Char. just ends up stuck alive in the middle of the river. I have tried manualy removing his equipment to no avail. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Please actually create and release Conan Chronicles 1,2,and 3 for Neverwinter Nights One CEP v. 1.53 this year please. _________________________ michael sharp.

Mograt - Sounds like it is too late, but this comment from the readme may have helped:
"Important Note: Having Conan-created Characters in your local vault folder may prevent other modules from running if you removed the special conan 2da files. This is because of the new subraces. Therefore if you are clearing out the conan modules, you may wish to move the character files out of the localvault folder."

I'd love to give this, and the previous two modules a resounding "9", but after finishing the mods, I wasn't able to run any other modules. Something about the Conan Chronicles had messed up my NWN2 files. I've tried deleting the Conan Chronicles files, but that hasn't worked. A suggestion to modders out there: How about producing versions that have mimimum disruptive effect on the core NWN2 fiels? As I'm writing this I'm reinstalling NWN2 & MOTB - & we all know how long that takes!

Just played all three as Campaign , no play glitches, but why can bookie only take 10,000 as max.
Forever wondering how (similarily OC and nearly all other mods] do I start/end naked but carrying 10.0000 to 15.000,000 gp.
Crypt Thing Excellent but Short. Please More soon. NWM2 Mods finally coming of age.

Played through this w/in the campaign.
Very nice, clean module. Played through with pure ranger - no respawns (polymorph self + animal companion /w natural bond = decent melee fighters w/o weapons.
Only problem I had was the bridge scene didn't seem to trigger right when I had an animal companion. (ended up just standing quite happily in the water???

Great module ! My favorite in the three ! Beautiful landscapes (mountain in winter with nice snow effect and after this green zone maybe too brigh but lovely with the stream)after the arena. I like too the wolves chase and the fight on the trunk. Too bad for the stuff (and the Symbia brooch^^) but the arrival in the crypt (even if there is not other way to go) is great.
Again very good ambience in the crypt with all this dust and the fire so important. Looking for any thing even an old rusting armor is a good moment too. ;)
Little problem with the secret door, I had had to take out the Deep Sewer Override to settle it (I have previously take out the genaral override but not the sewers one).
The final tunnel with this green light and mummys, traps was a bit difficult but the final enemy was a tough one sure !
I have really appreciate this part of the serie, thank you John.

(painful english speaker ahead, be warned)
I gave this vote a +0.5 enhancement bonus for the whole serie, in which this module fits perfectly.
I gave general praise for the serie on "CC1-legions of the dead" board (very good visuals, immersive atmosphere, colorful description and diversified action, not only fights). This specific module is a short sequel (and it's perfect like that), which give to CC2 a good breath of outdoor settings and force the characters to diversify their mettle in a true Conan style (against some of the more dangerous encounters even the lonely hard-hitter warrior will have to learn quickly some defensive tricks...) The game run smoothly and is much bug-free.
This part of the serie is the one I enjoyed the most, not because it is the best, but because it's in it I felt the more that I'm going through a true epic campaign with various parts and one solid "core-feeling".
The only issue I could find with it (and it's a rather personal one) comes from what I'm afraid to consider as a natural story-telling drawback of a Conan's novel's adaptation to RPG. At one point in the course of the story, which was at first a story written for Conan himself, the events unfolding or the descriptions (including some PC's feelings) will be contradictory with the "all-hyborians-characters-welcomed" needs of an open hyborian campaign. That is tricky, because it's precisely this genuine feeling to "live the book" which give the module such an immersive flavor. It's absolutely not about playing other builts than a Conan-type warrior, from game-mechanism point of view. I tried 11 different characters through the whole serie and, again, I would say that divine spell-casters rule the hyborian world. But whith each step taken away from the Conan-type character (hard hitter lonely survivor, ignorant of surnatural, and rather good-aligned) the story made less sense (e.g why my chaotic-evil hyrkanian warlock, the sort of witch that usually wakes at midnight to call some undead bodyguard from beneath the earth -the *walk the dead* incantation (if I'm not wrong in my home-made re-translation)- and see her call answered as if all the legions of Erlik were crawling their way in her path, before to take a lunch of fresh maggots, would feel anything but interest when she met the "thing". Why again, those superstitious of wolves which are rebuked by a faint smell of undead from far below the earth would bother the mistress of a "vivid" sample of their fear, strolling straight in front of them.
I have other many examples with a druid, and one with the assassin's *hide-in-plain-sight* feat... no need to be longer there...)
I know that's just nit-pick, and it was really easy to turn a blind-eye about these funny things to enjoy the story as it deserves to be. I know too, it's not really your fault since it's a logical consequence of a Conan's adaptation and it would take time to figure many other paths not covered by the book.
I mention it only for a purpose : to encourage you, if you carry on your excellent work through "Tower of the Elephant", to make yourself feel free to toroughly adapt the novel if you think it will be needed by the role-play. I'm positive you can imagine the "missing" parts of the story as well as its author would have (and this certitude won't bulge since it's anchored as far away as these wonders of stories that were the Sands of Fate).
Merci beaucoup for that last part, I can't wait the next!
PS: ...er...in case you would need playtester...

Short and eerie. I must say with no party or healing potions to be had (except a few) I took the shortest route I could out of that place treasure be damned. Like the ending said I was glad to be rid of it.
Crom!
(I'm not much on short mods but I can see how this story is neccessary to use as a progression piece in the saga of Conan. My Build, Rogue 2, Ranger 8, Fighter 2.)
I do hope you continue with this. Tower of the Elephant and Rgoues in the House are among my favorites and would coer this period of time. ToE in partuclar illustrates that Conan possessed some primitive but nobly strong moral depths and the themes of Barbarian vs the Civilized are never more stark and powerful. For example...this line "Civilized men are more discourteous than savages because they know they can be impolite without having their skulls split, as a general thing. or his view of Religion like all things civilized... lost of pristine essence in a maze of formulas and rituals in a story that is constantly challenging our civilized viewpoints. I think you could remodel a Mindflayer for Yag-kosah.)
Oh well enough of my shameless plugs.
:)

Hey its insta;;ed and woring but doesnt this have music?
I used music from the first conan but hear nothing. Maybe they dont use it for this mod.
can't get the inside of the caverns to function. Downloaded the hak as it said in the instruction, but alas, the caverns are black areas with some ice-blocks in them.
Any suggestions?
Great module. Maybe a bit short... xD
One question: how can I have in other modules the skin and stats of the armors I found in this aventure?

Hello John,
it´s a really terrific Campain. I´ve played as Conan himself and I really felt like him. It´s "only" nine because there are still some bugs. Thanx!

Zaxthegrey, try "walk" through the gap in 3rd person mode instead of clicking the exit in strategic mode.

Hard but great.
*SPOILERS*
I had a pretty strong Bar/Rog but still hard a rough time. The worse was the ghasts as soon as one got in a good punch I was done for.
Good, short mod. I'm really enjoying this series. Great work John.
How do I know if I'm finished? I've handled the "Entrance Guardian" but the "Tunnel Exit" link doesn't do anything. Am I done? If I'm not done, could someone provide a "dm_jumptopoint" command so I can get past this point and finish the mod?
Well, the series is simply too good to be true! But, in this mod, when I'm in the crypt, as I'm playing the role as Conan himself, I was ansious to have the famous "atlantean sword", but instead I have an "atlantean greataxe"...
I know it's for the use of all community to play with their prefered weapons, but mine is and always was the swords, and hope to get one, not an axe, which has nothing to do with Conan Chronicles.
Please, can you configure to have just the Atlantean Sword? Or at least an option for you to choose your weapon from a list of favorites?

Great game so far. I had some trouble with the crevice near the wolves, the floor would not collapse but I think it was because I ran past it when my character noticed it. When I went back to an earlier save and did the wolf encounter all over it worked this time. Then In the crypt I couldn't find the secret door. My character seemed to find it but I couldn't click on it. I discovered that I didn't remove the deep sewers override. When I did that everything worked fine. And just for clarity I am using motb 1.13 and everything else has worked, except I was missing some textures in the caves. All in all this is a cool game definitely worth playing, great job.

This is an great series, I love the atmosphere. Although I am haveing trouble geting the trigger to fire in the crevice by the wolves. Might be that I have 1.13 though.
