Description
Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.
- Robert Frost
The world is a cold, dead place that is completely covered with barren wastelands that are littered with the bones of forgotten warriors and the remains of once great wryms. Among this hopeless land lie the last remnants of civilization, The Community. But that is going to change very soon unless someone perhaps you stops the chaotic forces that are brewing preparing to destroy the little hope that remains in this world.

The White Rose is a story-driven module for 1st level characters. This module offers 3-4 hours of gameplay and should take your character up to either 5 or 6.
There are two companions, one is required and the other is optional. The first one, Tojun, will give you the choice to level him up as either a wizard or barbarian. Due to the nature of the setting you will not be allow to play a cleric or paladin. Druids and Rangers harness their power from the forces of nature.
The White Rose makes use of resting restrictions. As you travel across the tundra you will need to search for shelter to rest at. (A random cave for example.)
-----
Features:
+ A new and unique setting for your character to roleplay in.
+ An exciting story filled with twist and turns.
+ 2 companions with their own thoughts, motivations, and backgrounds.
+ 3-4 hours of gameplay.
+ Custom loadscreens tailored specifically for The White Rose.
+ Two minutes worth of excellent music written by MaestroRage.
+ A resting system that adds to the survivalist atmosphere and forces you to manage your resources wisely.

Yes its short. Yes it has some slightly frustertating combat. No I do not regret downloading it. I wasn't going to play this... I really wasn't. However I decided to give it a shot. Mind you, it could have been fleshed out a bit, some of the areas were a bit bland (then again what do you expect for a dead expanse of frozen wasteland...) The party interaction never seemed to change much from the original 2 or 3 questions, and I would have loved to get to know them better. It was a solid introduction to an intriguing storyline. May I recommend one thing though: On a nice snowy map like the majority of the areas were, it was almost impossible to see the area map transition points. Pretty please add a map note to the minimap? I spent 10 minutes trying to find the exit to the World Map =) I have to say, I enjoyed the healthy bits of sarcasm througout =) Otherwise, I found no problems with it, and readily looked forward to the next chapter. _________________________ Stupidity kills people. Well its very short completed in less then a hour or so. But good story line fighting was intresting but above all just to short reason for a really bad rateing.

Thanks for letting me know about this problem, Dave. I'll see what I can do about it.

Oops, 2nd message is Phase 2 area updates complete
Posted by DaveFritz at 2009-03-1212:01:04
Confirmed again. The Final Forest area goes through the load screen, giving the messages Phase 1 area updates complete, Phase 1 area updates complete, then the screen goes black and music starts to play. The cursor moves around the black screen but no response otherwise. Eventually the game gives the Windows "NWN2 has encountered a problem and has to close" and goes back to the desktop.

Hi, TJ, Now I'm REALLY frustrated. After several tries, I figured how to take down Gent in the Familiar House. Once I figured it out he was fairly easy, I thought. This is where things got bad. There is no chance to save at that point. Please revamp to trigger the area transfer and cut scene some other way than on death of Gent. What happened with me is that I went through the cut scene, then the game crashed going to the Forest area. Now, when I reload I can't get Gent any more, even though I know how. It is VERY frustrating to have to reload time and time again to get a sequence of lucky rolls. And to have to do this just to see if the game is going to crash again doubles the pain. Dave F. PS: BTW the helmet only provides partial immunity to Magic Missle. Gent still hits me with one occasionally, which makes things even harder.

Hi, TJ Duh!! Smacks self upside head! I'm OK. I was using energy protection instead of ELEMENTAL protection. Cheers, Dave

Hi, TJ, How do you get the Fire Elementals and the High Shaman? I've read previous postings but don't really understand positioning, at least not at the level of the earlier posters. We are L5, Tojun is a barbarian and I'm a rogue and we don't seem to be able to get a single hit in on any of the 3. Cheers, Dave

Since the Skull asked so nicely I´m going to vote before going on to the second part. =) Overall a very interesting module, though quite small and linear. What holds me from giving a higher score is the overdone difficulty, especially towards the end. The Sage Knights would be really challenging even in a standard Mod, but here with resting restrictions and hardly decent equipment to buy they were way too tough for my taste.
