Set sail on the high seas for this grand piratey adventure. Over three years of development and many people's effort went into this project. It includes such mini-games as Lute Hero, Pirate Cards, psionic combat, Alphabet Assault, and Sanity Defense. From humor to horror this epic story spans dozens of islands, contains new powers and weapons, and countless voice actors. Grab your flintlock and raise your Jolly Roger today!
Note that this version includes all three acts of Dark Waters and concludes the series. Three types of installers are included: a full installer that most people will want, a smaller lite installer without sound or music, and a RAR file for Macs and people who wish to install manually.
Arg!!! There be pirates!!!!!! The only pirate module that I ever played (never played Pirates of the Sword Coast, but the link is dead :() Never seen a mod so stuffed full of content. Plus, the boss battles were truly unique. The companions are really great and the romances even more so. Also, I never wanted to kill someone more than I did with the main antagonist. Seriously, this guy made my PC's life a living heck. But, there was one thing I was confused with and I was hoping that someone can clear things up. *Spoiler...AGAIN* This concerns the ending where you sacrifice yourself to close the fey portal. I'm in a romance with Heather. I die... but later in the epilogue it says that I'm happily married to Heather. Did I miss something?

I just revisited this and realized I had never rated or reviewed this wonderful piece of work. This campaign was groundbreaking as far as custom content and scripting, original music, and even included some decent voice acting. I found the first chapter to be neat but a bit tedious. chapters 2 and 3 are awesome, but with several glitches. The mini-games are a stroke of pure brilliance, especially pirate cards. The humor was great too, though I found some of the dialogue in the first chapter a bit stiff and awkward. all in all this is still one of the most fun NWN2 mods created, and it has more replay value than SOZ. I hope Adam will be rejoining the NWN2 modding community soon, perhaps teaming up with the Bouncyrock team or GamingParents studios to creat something utterly mind-blowing.

Great campaign. My score is based on you having made an almost new game and taking the game engine to it´s limits...but you only play part 1 to get to part 2-3. Amazing effort creating voices, music,in-game games, muskets (a must for every pirate), sea travel, etc... Not all voice acting is good...but at least you made the effort. all in all one of the best campaigns/modules ever made and most definitely the most innovative. Not perfect...but close to. congratulations Adam!

I am trying to install DarkWaters.exe into my Steam copy of NWN2, but the installation cannout find output /hak folder? What should I do to fix this? I can't seem to find the "hak" folder in my NWN2 directory for Steam either. Any suggestions?

Just had to many glitches in these modules for me to even finish chapter 3. I didn't even want to try Lute Hero game. I leave the card games to my kids (didn't even play of like it in Demon for NWN) Also only XP for moving along in the story got really old.

DW aspires to put fantastic back into fantasy by taking us (far) beyond what we usually experience in NWN2 modules. Largely DW succeeds: it has it all, and then some, and then some more. The modules are a must-play. The series would be a 10+ if it weren't for the bugs. The Vault is full of frustration with the high seas, and conversations with various dockmasters seem problematic, too (I've even read the convo files in the toolset ... quite different from what actually fires in the game). The highlights everyone mentions are truly remarkable. I groaned when confronted with the spelling quest, but it ended up being my favorite of all, and Lute Hero is indeed all it's cracked up to be. Aside from that, the story is very good, from the intelligent 'take' on magic, religion, and The Big Picture to character development, a rich world, and levity (both as 'in character' jokes and as asides to the player). Miller is obviously a well-read mod-maker, knows how to world-build, and knows how to turn out an engaging story. My advice? Don't let the bugs keep you from this outstanding series (check out the Vault for workarounds and such). Miller seems to be content to leave DW a flawed masterpiece; if he ever changes his mind and fixes the bugs, I'll (very) gladly revise my score to a 10.

@ redrake: yeah, in both DW2 and DW3, after a couple successful naval battles, in every battle thereafter, just as the ships are ready for boarding, the characters materialize on the water and break the game. Sucks.

Well, looks like the load screen and dialogue problems pertain to the 'lite' version of the modules; the full version doesn't have these problems. Don't know if the 'lite' version is missing .haks, .tlks, or what.

I also have the problem with naval boarding in DW3. Every time I try it, the characters materialize on water and the game doesn't move to boarding battle. Annoying, as I got quite a liking in DW2 with all those dominated enemy crews.

Started playing DW again now that the series is finished. I'm having two minor problems (forgive me if they've already been addressed, but I've yet to find fixes): 1) the load screens keep displaying "missing 2da" and 2) the cinematic conversations fast-forward even if I don't press 'return' ... my companions are rushing through their dialogues, will or nill. Any solutions to these problems?
