Your war is over, but their war has just begun.
You are the last of the Dana'an, a group of rangers led by Finn Dana'an all but exterminated by the Empire. The war has taken everything from you, your home, your comrades, your beloved. Now you're left to carry on, ekeing out an existence smuggling with one of the few friends you have left, Capt. Reynolds. The past, however, will not stay behind you, and soon you will find yourself facing a terror, and a hero, reborn.
No expansions are needed, but Adonnay's Elven Weapons hak and Escimator's Handaxes will need to be in your override for all weapons to display correctly.
FEATURES:
-Extensive use of terrain. Explore, fight, and sneak your way through large, lushly detail exterior areas that fit together to form a continuous landscape. Trees, buildings, and fences provide cover from arrows and bolts; grass, brush, and canebreaks provide a place to hide.
-Epic battles, with dozens of combatants on either side. Combat is fast, chaotic, and often overwhelming. NPCs fight in squads using a specially-designed tactical AI. They can ambush, hit-and-run, call for reinforcements, and will rout when seriously wounded or when they lose their leader.
-Special 'chatbot' conversations. Haggle with merchants as you barter, or use diplomacy or intimidation to gain critical information in fully interactive conversations.
-Mixture of linear and sandbox-style play. Though the main plot is fairly linear, the player is always free to wander the landscape, exploring, trading, hunting, or simply getting into trouble.
DOES NOT FEATURE:
-Multiple choice conversations.
-Text-based romances.
-Companions.
-Multi-linear plots (not yet).

****12/31/2011 A critical bug in the Absalom quest has been brought to my attention, and has been fixed with v1.02. For those of you playing v1.01, when you reach the critical point of the plot, Absalom 20, you will have to open the console (' key), type in 'debugmode 1', then 'runscript plot_absalom_22' and 'debugmode 0'.****
@LilyLilac: The 'Kidnapped' quest should be much simpler, just follow the retreating Gwalior to the Gwalior Hills. After the fight, you'll have to make your way alone to Gwalior Rock, where you should find Pao Shifu's body under a tarp just below the stone circle.
The 'Sojourner' Quest, however, leads you to Chickamauga Gorge. If you follow the tracks (and being in character mode helps), you should trigger a cutscene that tells you that one path leads to Gwalior Rock, and another to the Ocmulgee Caverns. You should go into the caverns, keep to the left, and look around the fire in the abandoned village.
One last thing: if you click-on/use the tracks themselves, your PC will turn and face the way the tracks are facing, usually pointing you towards the next track.
I know it's been said before, but this and LotD are absolute superb ranger modules, especially archers. Having to think critically about how and when you fight make the two games engaging as well as entertaining.
I do have to confess that I have enjoyed this module far less than LotD. It's more challenging, which in and off itself isn't bad, but the dependence on finding tracks is very frustrating. The "Z" key doesn't cut it to find them and I didn't even realize they were in some areas where I had been highlighting until I read some of the comments. I'm still stuck on the Kidnapped Quest and finding Pao. Ended up treking for a couple of real-time hours through the gorge, the caverns, the undercaverns, west bank and then got pwned by a bronze dragon. Pretty sure that wasn't supposed to happen (yet!). It's very frustrating to say the least and a little guidance would be much appreciated.

Interesting. I found 'Gods and Fighting Men' on Gutenberg.org so that could be my next bit of summer reading. _________________________ Too much ammo is a self correcting problem.
@GCoyote: Lady Gregory's "Chuchulain of Muirthemne' and 'Gods and Fighting Men' were important inspirations for me. Finn, Dei'dre, Sava, Morrigu, Eriu, Aoife, Scathach, and the Dadga all have namesakes in those stories. Even the cows can be said to be missing their Brown Bull of Cuailgne.

Found this on wiki and thought I'd share.
The Tuatha Dé Danann ("peoples of the goddess Danu", Modern Irish pronunciation: [t̪ˠuːəhə dʲeː d̪ˠan̪ˠən̪ˠ], Old Irish: [t̪uːaθa d̪ʲeː d̪an̪an̪]) are a race of people in Irish mythology. In the invasions tradition which begins with the Lebor Gabála Érenn, they are the fifth group to settle Ireland, conquering the island from the Fir Bolg. _________________________ Too much ammo is a self correcting problem.

Hi J.E. The end. Congratulations again. Voted 9. A final cutscene would fit very well in the grand finale and I had to bother you twice to manually advance. Anyway a gorgeous mod. Await the 3d. chapter.

J.E. You are correct. Both scripts are needed to trigger the cutscene and "Chains and things". Using only Ironcage's didn't work.Regards.

J.E. Thanks a ton. It worked. Started new Act and Thunder Run. I will go ahead without using the Ironcage manual advancing script in order to observe if the mod naturally runs well. In case of a new trouble I will report. Have a nice weekend.
@matuto: The simplest way to get you back on track would be to use 'rs ga_journal(quest_thunder, 1, 1, 1, 1)' and 'rs ga_journal(quest_ironcage, 1, 1, 1, 1)'. Read your journal for what to do next.
@matuto: you were supposed to speak with her in Harper's Ferry, I'll check tomorrow but it might not be possible to fix things.

Hi J.E. Thanks. After retreating from the bayou, the last conversation was with the colonel at the meeting house. There was no new entry and I immediately felt that something was wrong. Noticed the same 50 quest number in two quests and tried to trigger something going to Harper's Ferry and the Arsenal, when I gave up. Could you provide me with the console debug script in order to advance ?
@matuto: Unless you left the conversation prematurely, you should be ready to start the Iron Cage quest, with Act V Thunder Run already started.

HI J.E. Sorry but stuck again. And now the mess is serious. After having completed "A terrible beauty" both "Terrible Beauty" and "The unvanquished" show the same 50 quest number. Cel. van Groen can be simultaneously found at the Meeting House in Beaufort and at the fort at Harper's Ferry. And the plot doesn't advance. Assuming the last paragraph in the Unvanquished entries is a hint (... unless they can seize control of the Arsenal ...)I took the hero to the Arsenal but didn't know what to do there. I think I will need the debug script to advance again.

J.E. Thanks. It worked and advanced to 21. Now gonna track Pao. Hope not to be stuck again and vote shortly. Until now gorgeous. Congratulations.
My charcter is going through teh motions of casting a spell, there are even visual affects. In teh chatbox below, it say I am casting spell,I have cast spell but nothing happens, Again though I can heal myself by casting spells?

HI J.E. Thank you. There is no more Gwaliors on the map, only rabbits. I licked all the ground and used the tracking skill. Quest 20. Last entry: The battle has begun ... bloody conclusion. It seems I will have to advance using the console kicstart. Could you kindly provide me with the proper script ?
@mutato: what exactly does your journal say? (i.e. what number is before your "Vexed" quest text).
The most likely issue is that a stray Gwalior is still on the map somewhere, and you need to finish it off. They tend to follow the retreaters back towards Cape Jessamine. It's also possible that the last Gwalior was killed while you were off in another area, in which cause you'll have to manually kickstart the conversation.

Very good work. I am stuck after the battle at Gwailor Hills. First wave defeated and no new entry in the journal. Talked to Desirée who welcomes and the reply is "nice shoes" and Pao Shifu stays overlooking and only says something like "catch you later". Went to Gwailor Rock and killed everybody. The same: nothing new happened. Loaded a saved game and waited for a second wave. Nothing. The plot doesn't advance. I healed Desirée and Pao during the battle. Must one of them die to trigger a new entry ? Thanks in advance.
I don't work with spellcasting at all, but it's possible some status effects, like reduced intelligence from drinking alcohol, might have gotten stuck somehow.
Yep just called the retreat BUT my 2 Rgr, 5 Clr, 7 SLord, 2 Div Champ can not cast spells on himself except for healing spells. I can not buff up at all. I had been doing so but now nothing.
When I cas t summon creature a "shadow" portrait appears below my character and has 0 hit pts. I can still use shocking weapon as storm lords feat but no other spells.
When I am casting looks OK but nothing happens. Any ideas? have reloaded numerous other saves and it is the same. Without my spells it's end of game, sorry to say.
The Bayou or retaking that. Imps just keep coming and found out that the Lt Doyle is in the Bayou and at the Fort. Also I can use spells to heal myself but I can not cast spells on myself or summon creatures?
