Welcome to Raiders of the Lost Tomes! A single-player game for level 1 characters that should bring you up to around level 9-11 (so far).
by Darin LaSota
It has been five long years since the armies of the King of Shadows had forced Lord Nashar to evacuate the great city of Neverwinter, the Jewel of the North, in order to take refuge with the Knight Captain and his forces at Crossroad Keep.
It has been four years since the Sesani Merchant Company, under the skillful command of an Adventurer and his Party, overhauled the economy of the Sword Coast, and once again brought the City of Skilled Hands, Neverwinter, economic prosperity.
Our story is of two souls, linked by common hardship and joined in adventure; one the Academy Scholarship Wizard and dock-rat Derek Munsford, the other being your character.
Derek Munsford is a confused fifth year magic student at The Academy of Neverwinter, trying to survive the year under his strict house-master, the legendary Padras Paleme. He accidently adventures in order to sell a few gems, and with the help of some of his classmates and childhood friends, as well as a fellow prisoner he meets in the ruins of Ember, Derek becomes one of the smartest students in his class, gathering for Padras the legendary Tomes of Prothesis...

Click Below to Download Latest Version Due to Vault issues (unable to upload at all since 2013 started, at least not from chrome) I will be hosting this on Dropbox (which is safe, unlike other ones used in the past). Click link to download latest version. For now they will still be 7zip, but that may change since I no longer operate on the vault's 25meg limit.
Items that show as EXAMINE by default will often give more information when you USE them (look at them more closely).
Yes; at some point you may just find a fully-furnished portable hole.
Interesting use of scripting for more engaging death scenes in some instances.
Mara - You can choose to have her be a bard, a Rogue, or a Swashbuckler to better match your playstyle! (Derek is a wizard for plot reasons)
Alignment-based options for conversation... we don't tell you which alignment, so take care! (evil = self-serving mercenary rather than true evil...for the player anyway)
Heavily-scripted for a better experience.
Skill Checks reveal information that may aid you in your travels...not just Spot and Listen, but many others used as well. Note there are some checks only available to those with the Track feat or those in Search mode.
gratuitous scenery shot

Nope. I entered the tomb, saved my game and I was killed afterwards. I then reloaded my game and triggered the "bug". I will do further testing when I have time.
Weird, I tried that and I couldn't get the convo to not trigger... did you use the portable hole? _________________________ Check out Raiders of the Lost Tomes:

I meant "triggering" the conversation. Why there is not EDIT button?

Good day.
Yes I made a savegame upon entering the tomb, before trigging the conversation.
I tried to replicate your error, couldn't do it. I did get rid of the ghost attacking in the main area, though...things get too busy there for my liking, and the effect will likely work better if not in the main room. Could not save udring the conversation, as multiplayer cutscene is enabled...unless you have something that overrides cutscenes, I can't figure out how you did it... _________________________ Check out Raiders of the Lost Tomes:

did you save in the tomb? Did you save during the conversation? Sounds like an error with the conversation not firing...which could be the case if you saved during it somehow. _________________________ Check out Raiders of the Lost Tomes:

Hello.
I started playing chapter 5 yesterday and I have already run into some weird bug(s). Inside the tomb I was killed by three mages' skeletons of some such. After reloading my savegame they no longer attacked me. Instead, the dead guy arrived and the npcs killed him somehow. What a mess. I think I am going to wait until you test it further.

Good news! I am updating campaing/chapter 5 module. And yes, it seems dropbox is quite nice.
Updated; chapter 4 should now work as intended. will playtest 5 after I runthrough 4 _________________________ Check out Raiders of the Lost Tomes:

Will be posting an update to Chapter 4 Tonight; once you have the book in chapter 4, do NOT return to Thetford (you can go outside and play with orcs, if applicable); there is a transition area that has errors (mostly a mistake in a tag that kills a dialogue early) so... yeah... will throw up the solution tonight when I have time.
May have Chapter 5 up later in the week (need to check it for critical errors first...) _________________________ Check out Raiders of the Lost Tomes:

Be careful with Chapter 4; just noticed some bugs that I can't seem to fix yet (which is bad, since Chapter 5 is a bugtest from done) _________________________ Check out Raiders of the Lost Tomes:

Hey thanks for the response, glad to see you're still working on this sure to be monstah game when it's done. I do believe I chose a braided hairstyle for the drow in question that's not available when I create one in your module, so that may be the case - will try correcting it and re-exporting him. Kudos on what I've seen from Chapter 1, dire rats are nasty! :-p
**Critical Update**
If you have downloaded 4.1 before 4/25/2013, you may get an error starting new, since I have the start location in Chapter 5 (which you don't have access to). That said, I have fixed the issue, I think (this may be the issue with the Drow belkow, btw, though if so that was the update before this)
FIXED NOW _________________________ Check out Raiders of the Lost Tomes:

Updated the Campaign Folder, added a few conversation options (and a bunch of Chapter 5 stuff, but that won't be live until done with 5). Chapter 5 is roughly half done, but untested at this time. _________________________ Check out Raiders of the Lost Tomes:

Sounds like there is something you chose for your Drow in Abandoned Tower that is not in your Override Folder nor in Raiders' Campaign Folder.
I sometimes get that issue when running test modules, as I often pick hairstyles that I added to the campaign of raiders (such as Mara's) that are NOT available in a generic module and it crashes.
If you absolutely need to play your drow, make sure that all the appearance options are generic NWN2.
(If this is the case, the game will crash before loading anything....that's not a Raiders' thing, that's true of all NWN2 modules/campaigns) _________________________ Check out Raiders of the Lost Tomes:

Needing a little help here - tried to select a rogue I'd created/ran through Abandoned Tower to try out this new campaign with (yeah I know, cheating to get a flame tongue at first level - but I'm running a full drow here, so leveling is a monster grind!) but when I tried to 'select character' it crashes the game. Suggestions?

I think I have finished Chapter 4. Now waiting for chapter 5.

I forgot to add that they should appear about at the time of leaving the Amastassia barrow.

I like the idea. Some random encounters when travelling from/to Thetford seem plausible.
Tel'Sikil is a group of terrorists; this game is based loosley on a P&P game I ran, where this was more obvious (they attacked the town in response, and attacked people in general). I should add in some other elf-attacks to make things more obvious...and make you feel a little less bad for the raids. If you have advice on where, let me know. _________________________ Check out Raiders of the Lost Tomes:

Hello.
Yes it would be real nice if anyone else could confirm (or not) this issue. On the other hand, don't panic if it happens to you. Just reload an older save (or the last autosave); save to a different slot; reload and vòila. Problem solved.
I am now at the beginning of chapter 4 and enjoying a lot. This campaign is proving to be quite entertaining (aside from chapter 2 that I didn't like that much - but that's just a subjective opinion).
**** SPOILERS BELOW ****
After exitting the Amastassia barrow (is it spelled right? sometimes I have problems trying to read the ingame fonts properly), I encountered SOME ANGRY ELVES that ended up trying to kick my ass for being a grave robber/defiler. I tried several times to avoid this confrontation but it was to no avail. I sincerely regretted there was no way of avoiding this fight altogether using some high social skill check (like a high skill check on Persuasion, for instance), because I felt real bad (in a ethically manner of speaking) about having defiled their pretty tombs (yeah even if playing with a rogue and Mara).
Weird. I wonder if it's related to the way I have set up campaign-folder updating, or if it's an issue with your install/windows... if someone else has the same issue (getting quest and not getting conversation option to go to a tomb) please let me know. If you do, don't panic; according to eL_PuSHeR, just save, reload, and it should work then. _________________________ Check out Raiders of the Lost Tomes:

Again, after saving, reloading, several times, issue went away.

Hi, Darin
I have a case of Dèjá_vu. I have obtained entry 1 for chapter 4 and the game did an autosave. But again, I do not know how to exit Thetford for the Nailo barrow.

Tried other combinations too (starting elsewhere). Nope.

Tried several combinations both clockwise and anti-clockwise. No dice. I am pretty sure I am missing something obvious.

Either I am an idiot or I am missing the point completely.
If I have understood correctly, SUNdials need the sun to work, so they are useless at night. So it's plausible they don't have 24h, just the sun hours. So... the sundial marks should be something like...
**** SPOILERS BELOW
From left to right, assuming the left part is for AM and the right one for PM (North orientation).
6 7 8 9 10 11 (AM)
12
1 2 3 4 5 6 (PM)
I am guessing that the sun light would cast a shadow over the appropiate pivot and thus marking the inital letter for the password. I am still unable to guess it though.
Posted by eL_PuSHeR at 2013-04-06 11:15:56 Voted 9.00
Even if I have made some hardcopies of several sundials and looked for info about them on Wikipedia, the concept still seems somewhat abstract to me (I have always dislike common "analogic" watches). Just be patient. I keep on trying.
1-lowercase should be fine; the scripts are written to do uppercase, but the chat script converts what you say to all caps before it starts checking against stuff.
2-there are 12 hours on a sundial (for lattitudes around 40, 6 is repeated twice for AM and PM). So, avoid repeating that "u"
3-Nope; just say it and grab the book (unless "grab the book", as in use the placeable, counts as fancy, then yes...grab the book). _________________________ Check out Raiders of the Lost Tomes:
