Description
Markus "Wayne" Schlegel, the author of the A Hunt through the Dark series has formed a team to create his own interpretation of the mother of all AD&D computer roleplaying games: THE POOL OF RADIANCE. The legendary story of ssi's classic is split into 3 chapters with many details, roleplaying elements and deep atmosphere.
Adventurer's journal with many background information, maps and installation notes. This journal is already included into the main download of version 1.6.1.2.1.0 and higher.
This is the final version of Pool of Radiance Remastered.
We did our best to make it stable and we've spent many hours to add polish and depth. we thank the community for their ideas and suggestions. Many of them found their way into this final version.
We hope you like the final game. It is a straight forward old-school single-player roleplaying game - no more, no less.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Attention! Old saved games of version 1.4.1.0 and lower will NOT work with this version. Please export your character at the end of chapter 2 and start a new game. You will have the opportunity to go directly to chapter 3.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hmm, it seems you've had some issues with your installation. Your character only dies when ALL of your party fall down. In any other case everybody just stands up when battle is over. I recommend removing any plugins and addtional changes to NWN2 you may have installed.
To the other issues mentioned:
PORR is meant to be an old-school RPG with all the pros and cons of this design decision. Your character may give some comments on the thigns he (or she) sees i nthe ruins. They are jsut comments. Their is no need for interaction with dirt piles etc.
Maybe you should take some time and play it slowly with an eye on the story unfolding isntead of running through wow style.
Thank you for your feedback. :) _________________________ Lolthanchwi (2009)

No resurrection system implemented despite the the Temple of Tyr. Conversations are often one-choice answers and say things that my character would not say--ever (extremely limited role-play). You are capable of being killed near the start (the thugs--I approached them to see if I could get into a thieves guild and wound up dead within the first 5 minutes of playing). The guards in town don't protect against the thugs if they become hostile and the thugs will attack the other NPCs if they become hostile to you. The quest journal is too wordy and doesn't explicitly state the actual quest(s). An important building (the goblin tunnels) lacks a map marker and also a door which prevented "Z" targeting making it difficult to find. Slight Of Hand skill has been rendered effectively useless in this campaign as in the starting town there was only 1 pick-pocketable NPC which only had 4 gold to steal. Despite all the actions I did to attempt to be my character's Chaotic Evil nature, my alignment never decreased. There is a typographical error in the starting (audible) cut-scene on the word "to" which was typed as "ot". The speaker for the cut-scene noticeably had his mouth too close to the microphone as it kept distorting the audio. The orcs are too strong and should be weakened with having a lower hit DC. In The Slums, a conversation dialogue comes up (that your character says) commenting about the tower and the large pile of dirt; this is pointless as you're unable to interact with either--may as well comment on the ruins, the plants, and even the grass too! There is also several areas that your character cannot get to that you can visibly see is accessible--these should be walled off or otherwise barricaded. I did not go looking for errors or flaws in this campaign while I played it, but this is what I found as I played it. I stopped playing this campaign after I died a 2nd time (the 2nd time was at the orcs) as this campaign needs serious work done to it. It has a lot of potential but seems like it was hastily completed with minimal testing. I rate this campaign as a 3/10 (poor execution, potential unrealized).
Hey, thanks for this mod. Quick question: Where is the gnome to whom I need to return that book? I can't find him anywhere.
Thanks.

Cool module. Definitely captures the spirit of the original game. Nice area design... the city of Phlan is well done and seems very much alive. Some nicely done battles, especially the larger raids. Combat is occasionally difficult but nicely balanced.
Ran into a bug at the docks (spoiler) after returning from the pirate bay with the girl, the conversation is interrupted by the thugs; and so after the fight was over, the guy who's supposed to get you into the council hall doesn't get added to your party. Had this happen three times - finally managed to get by it by continually pausing the game during the cut scene. The thugs should be either further away, or non-hostile until the conversation is over.
Another minor bug; if you click on the the "boss" at the end after he's dead, he respawns and the conversation starts over again.
Overall great module, definitely worth a play.

Late to the game and late to vote though still a pleasure.
Given his long line of success in moding the NWN games - the robustness of this campaign is hadly a surprise. The remasterly of a very old and "buggy game" in its day requires at least 1 bug for the remaster (Orc mask).
Still the narrated words of (especially of) the early chapters evokes the same memories.
Well done. No collection of community mods is complete without this.
Hey Tiger_Dragon_Rainbow. Thank you for your post. I'm glad that you've enjoyed PORr so far and I'll do my best to help you out with Kovel Mansion.
**** SPOILERS AHEAD ****
Kovel Mansion is a simple assault quest. Your task is to enter the fortified mansion through the back door and to break all resistance inside. The basement level holds no secrets and puzzles, just some fighting and the surprise, that Salish is dead. You continue to the upper level where the bandit leader and his elite forces wiat for you. Kill the mage to fulfill your quest.
You are rigth, there IS a secret door in the middle of the upper level. The trigger is at the EAST SIDE of the central square between the two torches. This is the only secret at Kovel Mansion.
I've checked this secret door two times while testign the new version and it was always working perfectly for me. There were bugs years ago with the secret door object being destroyed or not appearing but I haven't seen anythign like that for years, now.
The secret room holds some goodies but no quest relevant items or triggers. If the problem persists you may continue without missing something important.
Check your journal for instructions and speak to the surviving forces (and their leaders). You will not find anythign about Cadorna at Kovel Mansion - but you will meet him again ;)
Feel free to contact me again if you have further questions.

Hello, Markus. First off, although I'm not voting, yet~ still playing this PORR game~ and I am enjoying it! However, I have a question reguarding the secret door in Kovel Mansion. I can see the door trigger, and the cursor changes to the door icon, but when I click to open it, no matter which character I'm using, That door will not open! It does not have that little globe of light you used on the rest of the doors, either. Its on the south side of the blacked out area of the Mansion map, right in a direct line of sight from the front door in that little room. There are a couple of paintings and things blocking the secret door, but it's definately showing itself to me~ if not any of my party.
I am a curious sort who loves to explore/click into any secret/ or not doors in the game that I can get into, and this door has my curiousity peeked! I mean, I know there is a secret door but none of my characters can see it!
So, my question is this~ am I missing something? The Mansion is cleared of all hostiles, all other clickable objects have been explored/looted, but the journal entry pertaining to Kovel is still open, and I have not found any new evidence concerning Cadorna or anyone else.
Anyway, I would love to get past this point, I'm afraid I still need something from this place before I can go back to town. BTW, I have also cleared out the temple, and happily smashed that banite altar, so the Mansion is my only loose end pertaining to this area.
Thank you for a very enjoyable game, Markus.

Hands down the best campaign I've ever played. The main campaign in NWN2 is dull in comparison. :)

CNC PROTOTYPE
CNC prototype mould is the result of modern industry. Integrated CAD, CAM advancing technology,
Put the CAD three-dimensional modeling with the whole piece of material in the numerical control
machine tools on the excavation and into, so called CNC prototype mold. CNC prototype mould is not
only high precision, and the material good consistency and strong sense of reality, the appearance
quality can reach a high level. Making effect can comparable to mold production products, or even
higher after sandblasting, polishing, paint printing , spray, glaze ,electroplating and other
follow-up after processing.
Since the ninety s, with the application of numerical control machine,
CNC processing cost reduced quickly, People found in using numerical control machine processing model
not only end of the size precision speed, costs are competitive, make a lot of board model making possible.
On the other hand, along with numerical control technology, many original subtle structure can't processing,
can use CNC machining to complete. At the same time as living standards, the diversification of products,
product development speed is increasing day by day. It is in this case, CNC manufacturing and board model
emerged as a relatively independent industry and flourished.
If you want to turn your product design into physical model, please realization it with doing prototyping.

Generally speaking, if only need the prototyping to measure the size of the product, there is no need to
spray oil, then can save time to do exterior treatment,
certainly can save cost.
If need to make a lot of every product, then we suggest produce it by vacuum casting, the cost is lower
than CNC processing.
If the structure of the product is complex, hard to use CNC processing, and hard to control the size, we
suggest adopt SLA. But the cost is much higher than CNC
processing and vacuum casting.
In a word, adopt different processing method according to your requirements, we can help you save a lot of
cost.
You need to provide IGS,PART,STP form 3D picture if need us to make prototyping, the best is the IGS form 3D
picture. Also related requirements of
after-treatment., such as color, surface effect, etc. Please login Link to know more about

Thank you for taking the time to make this and giving me a chance to play this game. I remember seeing it in my friend's library back in the day, and even after she gave it to me, I could never get it to run on my computer; but I had always remained curious about it. Aside from a few bugs that fortunately I was able to get around, and some typos here and there, I had a blast playing and it kept me up all night two nights in a row =)

We quoted to you according to your 3D design, and the material ,quantity which you wanted.By the way,
you'd better provide us 3D design by IGS form

Having a fun time with this module. I am in Chapter1 and have run into a question. At Sokol keep, I cannot find a way in. Door is locked, I'm not a Rogue so no lock picking. I've searched all over for secret doors. I am at lvl 3. Can anyone give me a nudge in the right direction to continue?
Thanks!

Very, very good--especially since it's set in the Forgotten Realms, where all the submissions should really be to expand this games properly--whether conversions or not. Unfortunately I got critically hit by an orc fairly early...oh well. My only problem was with the auto-levelling.
I am unable to unzip the file in its entirety. I keep getting a message saying that Pool of Radiance Remastered - 2.mod is corrupt. and this happens no matter how many times I've downloaded this.

My memory of the old C64 version is somewhat foggy, so I can't really comment on the differences, but a lot of things eemed very familiar and it felt very old school in some places. In a good way.
SPOILERS
(Minor) Cons
- The dialog felt wooden a lot of the time. This is of course not a real con since Markus is no native speaker (neither am I btw).
- I envountered the Orcmask bug
- I used this mod as my first try at the warlock class and felt some of the battles were rather hard. I guess the module is not very spellcaster-friendly
Pros
- Overall a great piece of work.
- Good effort at expanding the quest driven original and flesh out the story behind the settlement of new Phlan
- No real bugs that couldn't be worked around
- Lovely areas

I would love to be able to finish the module. Would somebody be in position to advice a console command or some such to fire the spawns in Kuto's Well defence?

A very nice module. Reasonably long, with interesting and pretty well balanced encounters. Quite linear and role-play light. The development of town as the game progresses and the changing social status of the protagonist are very nice touches.
Unfortunately I've had some glitches. Most notably quest entries not closing on completion. I have many open quests in my journal.
Additionally I'm not sure if merchants have refreshed their stock like they seem to be supposed to. The armor mechant had a new nice piece of armor at the end, but that's it. Aldo's new shop is closed and old gone. The Council member advised a magic shop in the slums with best supplies, but there is none. The Apothecary there has the same basic stock of potions as he did from when he set up his shop.
This is less of an issue, more like a feauture, but why set up crafting stations, when there don't seem to be crafting materials? I couldn't find any essences anyways (or essence-giving reagents). There are some ingots available, but no molds, etc. Normally I'm not much into crafting, but as the best spear I could find/buy for my Druid/Stormlord was Masterwork I hoped I could at least enchant something half-way decent, seeing all these benches, ingots, gems, etc. But no luck.
Now I believe I am nearing the end, but have encountered some problem that has stopped my progress. During the recapture and defence of the Kuto's Well area we defeat two waves of orcs. I get a shout to prepare, because more enemy reinforcments are approaching: giants and ogres and... nothing happens.
There are no transitions from the area, nobody has anything interesting to say, sleeping doesn't help either. It seems like a spawn failed to trigger and I'm locked in there. I already tried this 3 times, with various defender positions - and with the same effect.
Too bad about the problems, because I really enjoyed playing the module. Would love to see how it ends. I also lowered my score because of these issues.

Finally finished this one! A nice and polished adventure, that felt very, very satisfying. Substracting 0.25 point for a slight bug which caused me to restart chapter 2. A complete campaign with concluded story. Didn't play Pool of Radiance before, so additional plus :)

Nice module. Lots of different stuff to do. Your companions coming and going was a bit annoying, but when they returned, they had all there equipment (no need to do any equipment stripping).
I just used the equipment provided in the module and it got the job done.
Alright, I found the book but ran into another problem: I'm on the quest to retreive the paladin's hammer and the journal mentions a boat at the docks that would take me to the graveyard. However, there are no interactable boats or NPCs at the docks.
Where in the library do I find Urgund's Description of Darkness? I got the other 3 quest books in the interactable shelves except for that one.

Very well-made mod, a must play for those who have missed out the original PoR game like me. Got stuck for a bit for missing out the messenger after killing the orc warlord and the orc mask bug but otherwise very smooth. Also some wierd bug after killing the dragon (twice) when the dragon popped again, went through the dialogue and attacked the party again (but much weaker somehow), and the party kept chasing some invincible and invisible 'pool_speaker'
Was there ever a sequel to the story? It seemed unfinished.
This has been by far, the best NWN2 module I've played so far...up until I hit the Orcmask bug. I can't find any invisibilty potions and I can't get the console commands to work. Any help would be greatly appreciated !
