This is a new type of fast buff rod. This one will allow you to re-buff your entire party as a single action.
With the increase of henchmen in NWN2 it became apparant that the original rod didn't cut it any more because you were likely to cast spells on multiple characters *from* multiple characters.
This version of the Rod will allow you to do this as a single action. Great for re-buffing after rest.
Please consider this *BETA*. It has not been extensively testd although I have have validated that it does work. Please post all bugs here.
It's action in multiplayer is undefined although it should work exactly as it does in SP. I would be careful using this as people might not like being forced to cast spells :)
This zip file contains a .erf for builders and a module + overide files for SP players who want to get the rod with one of their local vault characters. There is also a readme that describes how to use the rod.

Outstanding, a Must Have

Just started playing as Cleric, found it a pain to buff and discovered this wonderful addon. What I also found is that party buff rod is unable casting meta-magic and also does not check if a buff is already active before applying the new one (so it's hard to mix the buffs of long and short duration into a single sequence).
Modified the original script a bit so it now tries to cast the persistent version of the spell, then the extended one and finally the regular one (in example if you have only the extended version of a spell remembered it will be applied). Works fine for the classes that have to remember spells.
Also added a check for already applied buffers.
What I don't understand is how to attach this patch here.
PsionMage, I do not believe you are correct that the rod is casting spells at level 10 and both rods use the same mechanic. However, there does seem to be some new weirdness involved in quick-casting spells that is affecting both the Single and full party version that I don't understand just yet. I will look into this over the next few days and see what I can find.
I believe this rod is only casting spells at caster level 10. Here's my reasoning.
I got 2 rods, one of the full party buff, and one of the rod of fast buffing. I cast magic vestments and had both rods store it in their respective way. My caster level should be 13. When I use the full party buff rod, I get +2 AC on my armor. When I use the fast buffing it accurately gives me the +3 AC.
This, plus the fact that I know that by default, items have a caster level of 10 (known because in crafting, you can use scrolls or items for anything that requires no greater than caster level 10.)
Could you update this rod so it uses the same mechanic as the other so it uses the correct caster level? Thanks.

Update - it works with everyone except my spirit shaman, it doesn't remember the buffs he casts. Sometimes I have to move around before the rod works, it's a little temperamental. Great tool though I'm recommending it.

Removes all the tedium of buffing...one thing though. It seems to only work if I only have one caster doing the buffing. My main character (spirit shaman) doesn't seem to work with it. Is that because of the whole MotB thing?

Can't play without it. First thing I do whenever I start a new game is to add this to my inventory.

Thanks! I had found this page a couple of weeks ago - didn't download the files until two days ago and then posted the question after reading the readme file. THEN I found the first post in this thread and gave it a try - even though I had never tried doing anything through the console before, and I still don't know what "SP" in "SP character" means. Sorry about that - I should have read all of the posts first. I did get the rod onto my character and loaded with spells this afternoon. I have to wait until tomorrow to go adventuring and try it out.
MDPhillips, No need to export and import your character(doesn't seem to work in NWN2 anyway). Go to the very first post in this thread and there are instructions using debugmode to get the rod in your existing game.
I'm a relative newbie here, so I need a little further instruction. I'm playing along in the OC - on my way now to Old Owl Well since restarting the game to redo some things that I learned in my first effort. I understand exporting a character and starting a mod and picking up a new item. But how do I get my character with the item back into the OC where I left off?
Thanks!

Thanks for this great item. It certainly made the OC less tedious. Unfortunately I cant get it to work in Tragedy in Tragidor mod. Any idea why not? It works in other mods [eg Rod cave] just fine. It just says using special powers. Thanks.
Hmm I made a character for the party buff rod cave and it works in there (I get the messages). But when I export the character to the campaign with a new game in the campaign it no longer gives any special messages...
Morikal - Which override directory did you put them in? The one under documents and settings//my documents/neverwinter nights 2 or the one under program files/atari/neverwinter nights 2? (it should go in the latter)
Hmm... I used the console to give myself a buff rod... I have the ncs and uti files in the override directory... but I get no messages at all when using the rod (just "uses special power" or whatever the usual message is for activating an item.
I used the rod on itself while I had buffs active, no messages. No effect when I use it on the ground or something else afterward (ie: rest, same spells memorized, use rod on ground or a character or something).
jackyo123, There is currently a problem with "subradial" spells. The ones where you are able to choose what type. e.g. Protection from alignment, energy immunity. That type of thing. I had forgotten about it. I'll look into putting together a fix.
Ok, just read the above note about cleric problems. Also have the same problem with some of Sand's spells, so wizard spells are also affected. Energy immunity is certainly one, also looks like spell mantle might be as well, as well as prot from spells and magic circle against alignment. _________________________ Jackyo [email protected]
Have discovered a possible bug - certain spells do not seem to work, even though the rod is reporting them as 'stored.' For instance - casting energy immunity on zhave, storing, then using the rod, shows NO effects whatsoever on her character or on her quickstat bar, yet the rod reports the spell was cast. Also certain wizard spells, same problem. _________________________ Jackyo [email protected]
Chatterbox,
Are you sure that's what you're seeing? Positions are by caster so it's natural to switch back to position 1 when 'Y' changes.
As for the spells not being cast. As noted elsewhere there is a problem with spells granted by cleric domains. If you're sure that the spell not being cast is not a domain spell and that it really is resetting back to position 1 without switching casters can you give me the most basic steps I can do to reproduce this problem? If not, would it be possible for you to save a game with the problem evident, zip it up and send it to the address attached to this logon? If so, put "Buff rod" somewhere in the subject.
Thanks.

I'm seeing a problem - buffs are overwriting each other. So the first line says "Storing X1 cast by Y on Z in position 1", than "Storing X2 cast by Y on Z in position 2" and than again ""Storing X3 cast by Y on Z in position 1". The first buff (X1) never gets executed.
Jackyo - you said you activate the rod and then right click to target it. In this case you need to *left* click to target it (and by target it, I mean target it in your inventory). You should be getting a message "Clearing all spells" or something like that. Then you'll get text reporting every spell being stored.
So. to store buffs:
1) Open inventory.
2) activate rod (either via inventory or quickslot. It's probably best to be sure the right click select is cleared before doing this).
3) select the rod by *left* clicking the rod in your characters inventory.
4) Verify you get the "Clearing buffs message and a report of every spell being stored.
To Use:
1) make sure your party is close together
2) activate the rod and target either yourself, or a party member. You could probably target the ground but it may cause the using character to move away from the party.
NOTE: sometimes party members get actions queued up before the cast actions assigned to them so it may be a heartbeat later before they case (happens a lot when they're not quite within touch range). Waiting a second or switching to that character should cause the casts to fire.
As a follow up - my order is:
1 - Cast spells
2 - Activate Rod
3 - Target rod
I get the message 'jillian is using items special powers.' Buffing entire party
And thats it. Even if i then activate again and target a character, instead of the rod itself, it says 'buffing party' but nothing at all happens. I dont think my spells are getting stored in the rod.
help would be much appreciated! this tool looks to be a major timesaver _________________________ Jackyo [email protected]
Having trouble getting it to work - it looks great on paper, but i've installed the mod file to the mod directory and the rest to override. I am playing the o/c. I giveitem to get the rod (works fine). Cast my buffs. Activate rod (activate item) and then right click to target. It gives the message 'buffing party members.'
But nothing happens. I sleep, wake up, activate the rod and target the ground or any character, but nada. Says again 'buffing party' but nothing.
Am i doing something wrong here? _________________________ Jackyo [email protected]
