REQUIREMENTS:
- Latest NWN2 Patch (1.04)
- Latest NWNX4 Version (1.07)
DESCRIPTION:
The ERF file included in this package (Rowells_PW_kit.erf) and the
module file (Rowells_PW_Module.mod) contain all the scripts and
objects necessary to create a very basic Persistent World.
Included in this ToolKit:
- Rowell's FairPlay Chest
- Rowell's Bashable Door
- Rowell's Banking System
- Rowell's Bank Vault for Items
- Rowell's Faction System
- Rowell's Quest System
- Rowell's Discovery System
- Rowell's Database System (using the NWNX4 add-on, can access both SQLite and MySQL Databases)
This toolkit relies heavily upon the Neverwinter Nights Extender
(http://www.nwnx.org/) by Ingmar Stieger. You can download the
latest version of this excellent addon by visiting:
http://www.nwnx.org/index.php?id=nwnx4
The included file (nwn2.db) is a SQLite Database file that works
well with NWNX4. You can download the SQLite files for free from:
http://www.sqlite.org/download.html
Many scripts in this toolkit rely on Database actions to store
persistent data. Player, Character, Item, Area, Faction, Calendar,
IP Address, Public CD Key, Loot Drop and Locations are some of the
information that gets stored.
Once a piece of information is loaded from the database, it is stored
in a Local Variable, to minimize Database hits. Updates are made to
both the Database and the Local Variable.
This is a work-in-progress. There are still things to be done. There
are also many bugs in NWN2 which may cause some scripts to behave
somewhat varied from what is expected (with the Faction System,
for example). The Tradeskill system is not functioning; it is merely
a barebones start of something more to come.
All of the tables are created by the toolkit, which means that
as far as populating data, there is little to do. The scripts will
create any tables that are missing from the database; you do not need
to pre-make them.
You *MUST* be using the latest NWN2 Patch (1.04), and the latest NWNX4 version (1.07) in order for this toolkit to work.
Latest Changes:
- Changed Kill-Creature quests to give credit to all Party members, not just to the PC that killed the creature.
- Added several smaller fixes to improve data usage.
- Added a Text File that admins can use to create all the tables in a SQLite database.
- Packaged just the changed files to the Toolkit to a seperate ERF file.
This says it was updated 4/1/08 what was update about it?

There are a few PW's still using this "base" system. However lots of edits are needed to make it work. SOI (Shadows of Inquity) is using it, I can tell since I worked with BigMacDaddy when this first came out. Maybe Xildjian can post an update here with what he has working. I have a version that is has alot of modifications to it, however I do not feel it is ready for release. I know I have things working he is not using and vise versa. Possibly a merged package can be created. I can be found at Kingdom of Winterhaven (www.nwncoa.com) and I go by my full username of Kreszantas there. _________________________ DM/Lead Developer of Kingdom of Winterhaven Link Current projects: Legendary Feats System Portable Persistant Storage System (PPSS) Link Rowell's Persistant World Toolkit (upgrading it) for nwnx and MySQL PW's

Not useful at all for NWN2 in current state. Will update my vote if it becomes current and supported going forward.

Is this a completely DOA package these days of v1.11+? Any word on breathing life back into Rowell's Persistent World Toolkit? Such a sad fate.

The "puttogether" factor here is large! I also appreciated the well commented scripts. Good work Shargast _________________________ Realms of Shargast V1-V5ab, LOTR V15, The Undeath Clave Faithful of Aerth

DL I agree that it did what it meant to do when it worked. It is a shame such excellent work has not been carried forward by Rowell or another, but 'thems the breaks'. If this gets picked up again, I would happily use it and vote for it with a high score. The NWN1 worked a dream and my expectations of this working the same were shattered when it didn't. _________________________ Sporaxis "Smashing other peoples bits together to make a better world" blog: Link

Read through the commenst and Rowells forum thread for the package. This package only workd for patch 1.04 and is the patch Rowell stopped at because NWN2 stopped working on his PC and no responses from Atari he gave up on the game and well hasnt ben able to "update" the package cause he cannot cause NWN2 broke on his system amd will no longer load. There was suppose to be someone else to pick up the project but there is no word on that yet. Other than that the system did what it was designed to do.

I might have voted higher, but you need to update to the newer patches. If you update, I could vote it higher.
