Thirty years ago, a terrible war took place between the troops of Lord de la Vigerie and the orcs of the Grazath Clan. Defeated, a handful of orcs fled into the depths of the mountains and founded the underground village of Arak-Hur.
Baby, you were adopted by an orc of this clan. You were raised by the Grazath Clan as if you were an orc. You are now a young adult and it is time for you to serve the clan...
This module is meant to be bilingual (English and French). Players with the US version of NWN or any foreign version of the game except the French one will see the English wording. Many thanks to William Martin who has entirely reviewed the English version of this module.

It looks like Akkei is long gone. The module is little tough for 1st level, but when you finish non-violent quests you should be able to handle the more powerful foes.
- "sens" - typo by the elf in court
- missing portraits
- borian guards are gostile towards his family and other commoners(even the seigniorial guards)
- some lines in French: when only 2 rangers were left, when guard in dungeon shouts one-liners
- elf thief: when I pay for painting and receive it, he says I do not have enough gold _________________________ Thanks Rolo:)
I would like to see the walkthrough, but your website appears to be down. Is there anywhere else I could find it? Why not post it as one of the files here?
You can often open an .exe file if you are not a PC guy with StuffIt on a Mac for instance.
That worked here for me. _________________________ @ + jml, level 52

I really enjoyed this mod. The only problem, which is how I feel about all mods, too short. I love getting to know my character and the world and then....The End. I recommend this mod very much. The story is a very clever idea. Thank you.

I was reluctant to try this module because I don't usually care for playing evil, but I was quite pleasantly surprised. The story is engaging and unusual, the quests are clever intersect in interesting ways, and the implementation was top notch.

Excellent scripting that's very detailed.
Only problem is you have to play evil. I assume due to killing, the PCs alignment goes down.
This doesn't seem to be meant for a good character. _________________________ Steve's Characters - please don't forget to vote on them if you play them.

Je cherche à envoyer ce module à mon frère qui a un mac, pourrais-je avoir le détail des fichiers que le .exe à décompacter sur mon ordi, pour lui envoyer...

I'm trying to send this mods to my brother (mac user). Can somebody tell me the list of the files decrunch by the .exe prog, so I can send it to him... Thanks
Something which may or may not be a issue. The Haks use the SOU appearance.2da file which was changed in HoTU. The net result is your character will appear 'bigger' on screen.
Essentially what I did was copy the modded lines from the hak's appearance.2da files and paste onto the end of the HoTU appearance.2da file and import them into the hak files overwriting the old file (BT_OrcHead.hak and AkkeiOrcsSoU2.hak).
Please make your profile public so we could access it from within a module's page (ie, this page). With the new nwnvault interface the "other modules by this author" link is now ONLY available within said author's profile (which is PRIVATE and can ONLY be access by himself by default!) _________________________ I do not have a superman complex; for I am God, not Superman!
UPDATE: My computer died this weekend. He was 3 years of age and I spent a lot of good time with him. I will miss him a lot.
Fortunately I havent lost much work on my modules since I have a recent back-up, but this unexpected death will still be delaying this project as I do not have the funds right now to buy a new computer. I receive tons of e-mails informing me how to make a lot of cash in a very short delay, maybe I can find a solution to my problem in these e-mails...
UPDATE: I have been working daily on the Orcs campaign. Yes, the campaign... I just couldnt help it. There is so many new things made by the community since I first started building Orcs 1 almost three years ago (and my building abilities have improved a lot since then as well) that I kind of feel embarrassed with the first module of the series. In any event, there are a lot of thing that I originally wanted to include in Orcs 1 and 2 and that I couldnt because either I didnt knew how to do it or because such or such options were not possible at that time. But now, Im pretty confident that I will be able to achieve what I have in mind and, from what I have done and improve so far with the campaign, I believe that you all should be quite surprised and satisfied with the end result. Since Im currently rather inspired, the work is going on quite rapidly. Its still too soon before I can estimate a release date, but I would be very upset with myself if I couldnt release it by the end of this year.

Glad to see you back and to hear that you are working on part 3. The first two mods are fantastic. Thanks for all your work.

Hi All! I just wish to confirm that I am not dead. I lost motivation for a while to complete Orcs 3 due to a series of bad lucks and difficulties, but Im now working on it again. The module is about 50% complete. Thanks all for your patience and for the good words for those who have posted comments since I last visited this page. Cheers!

Orcs had been on my playlist for a long time, and I finally have had the opportunity to give it a go. It was everything Id heard it to be. You begin as the adopted child of an orc, having just come of age to serve your orc clan, the Arak-Hur. Your clan was driven into the caves in the mountains 30 years prior by human invaders into your lands. They have bought their time, grown their forces, and now are prepared to strike back at the humans. Since you are not an orc, they ask you to go do some reconnaissance on the human populations to help them identify weaknesses in their defenses.
So begins a very open ended game. Once you leave the Orc confines, you have your choices of a large variety of quests which all can be accomplished in any order you choose. Quests are varied and interesting, and many of them are mutually exclusiveif you agree to cooperate with one faction, quests from other factions will become impossible. There are numerous opportunities to roleplay characters that range from lawful neutral to chaotic evil. The best accomplishment of this module is that it allows you to very easily slip into the role of an orc. Throughout most of the module (exceptionsee below in spoilers), I felt absolutely no regrets about spying on the humans, discovering their weaknesses, and reporting them to my superiors. After all, these are the corrupt bastards that conquered your clans homelands for nothing more than financial gain. The story is solid, though theres a way in which there isnt much in the way of plot development. You basically go out, do a bunch of quests, reporting back to your boss occasionally, until your clan is ready to attack. What you accomplish does affect the endgame, but theres still little in the way of surprises.
There are no henchmen in this module, though there are occations when youll fight alongside other NPCs. Given the premise of this module, I played a half-orc barbarian, since I felt it was more likely that the clan would adopt a half-orc than any other race. I found the combat to be fairly easy overall, but there were a few difficult battles early on (typical lv 1 & 2 struggles). Overall, given the lack of henchmen, I think the difficulty is about right. Wizard-types would probably struggle a bit more than my hulky barbarian.
I did have a few suggestions about ways the module could be improved:
* Grammar could use another once over by a native-english speaker. There are numerous verb and tense agreement issues throughout the game, and not just in the players dialog (which I realize is supposed to show poor grammar, since he doesnt know human language very well). I think its remarkably well written given English is a second language for the author, but there are improvements that could be made.
* While I enjoyed the quests themselves, I began to become disappointed that each of them was given in the exact same way: in each factions main building, you went to the only named NPC in there, asked them me looking for work, and youd be given a quest of some sort. Some variation on this theme would have been very welcome, because it started to feel old and contrived by the 4th time it happened.
* day/night cycles seemed to be extremely fast. I found it rather disorienting, as it seemed like it would switch over every 5-10 minutes. This was particularly notable because night seemed so dark. I had to turn up the gamma correction, even when playing at night in a dark room.
****spoiler****
One thing that I found particularly powerful about this module is that even though I never felt the desire to waver in my support of the orcs, the invasion at the end of the mod is not a pretty scene. Sure, there are guards to fight, and I felt no regret in attacking them in all my fury. But there are also civilians, waitresses, old men, etc, running about being struck down by the orcs. It was hard to see that and know that, really, you should be helping them hunt down the civilians. I often opted to leave them alone, let the orcs take them, and focus only on the guards.
***end spoiler***
All in all, this is a really cool module. Its so nice to have the opportunity to play the other side of the classic humans vs. orcs. You can play it as an evil character, but I found it more rewarding to roleplay an orc with honor, serving and protecting his clan. Im looking forward to seeing what happens in Orcs 2!

I have ignored this module for a while, because it seemed that playing a - neutral/evil - Orc wouldn't be much fun. How wrong can you be.
It was fun, the orc setting is original and exciting, your character is not an adventurer, but a dedicated clan-member, with a purpose.
The best module I have played.
