Starting from your ancestral estate outside Mirabar, you begin an epic quest that will force you back into the mighty Spine of the World. Across frigid tundra and through endless tunnels you must travel to locate and rescue desperate souls at the mercy of savage beasts. Old friends and new stand ready to take up arms and join in your quest against countless menacing foes. But once the journey starts, there can be no turning back! Are you ready to Return to the Spine? Return to the Spine is a Forgotten Realms Module for a 7th-level character (6th- to 8th). The module is a follow-up to Beneath the Spine, Parts 1 & 2. Return to the Spine is primarily a linear hack-n-slash. This module was designed and tested for single player on a normal difficulty setting, utilizing the available henchmen. Return to the Spine provides four to six hours of gameplay and allows your character to advance two levels.

Played till half into orc caves, then abandoned for good.
- "rat"(small case letter)- critter
- awful henchman AI , slightly better inventory control(1of3 henchman is better than none)
- escaped prisoners fight each other(faction problem)
- weird graphic glitch at sceptre of knowledge
Definitely better then the first part, but I think I will pass this and 3rd part altogether. _________________________ Thanks Rolo:)

I agree with Armin. This is possibly the best module Seryn ever made. Perhaps too short or too easy but certainly worth a try.
7: A good module with some issues, but worth the download for almost anyone.
FROM THE AUTHOR: THIS MODULE IS NO LONGER SUPPORTED.
Thank you to everyone who played. :-)

Some scripting errors regarding the white dragon and an abrupt ending, but other than that, it's good to have a Duergar module with no Drow... makes them stand out! _________________________ Steve's Characters - please don't forget to vote on them if you play them.

Straightforward, solid hack-n-slash with a linear storyline. Restricted resting and relatively low treasure forced me to conserve healing potions and kits, and meant I was playing with fairly modest equipment, which made the game more challenging. Not exceptional, but not bad either.
I just dl'ed all three of your mods and BLOATED hak packs *sighs* Please find some way of reducing the size, or at least put all the haks for the series in one rar'ed (best compression) hak pak. I know I'll enjoy your mods, but the problem I mentioned seems to be a problem with more than just your spine series. _________________________ Never pass up a good opportunity!

Thank you for a Great Story, even though linear as stated it was a fun H/S.
I played through all 3 with my Female HalfElf as Rogue/Fighter.
I think this can be even better with a little upgrade (More Hench/ Interaction) as for my brothers and father I did not feel the closeness as the interaction was limited.
Also because it is so long it could use many/few more side quests just to make is a little more interesting.
I think you have a Great Talent and would love to see more of your work and hope that you will continue this as I have a character who is not quite ready to retire in her Estate as of yet.
All in all I had a great time.
Thank you for taking your OWN time to make these Mods for us!

Good Hack & Slash mod.
Simple. But player friendly.

For me, the best part of the series. Good story, much improved henchmen compared to part 1, and a decent h&s romp that keeps fast-paced and interesting. _________________________ With magic, you can turn a frog into a prince...

Very great mod I thought, works even greater when playing all three in a row. Hope to see more from you in the future.
Dabaro--I'm glad you found your problem. I was stumped!
Vezz--thanks for continuing on with this, despite the problems with the 1st one. Hopefully, the third module will be far and away better than both. The combat balance is definitely tougher than RttS, but hopefully not too tough. Looking forward to your comments on that one as well.

Hello again, I think I found the problem with nothing showing up. Seems either another mod. with a hak messed up my NWN or there was a problem with the installation of NWN all together. I tested a few other mods to see if they worked and found NO placables or similiar objects showed up, nothing but the basic tiles and NPC's, a reinstall of NWN has fixed the problem with the placeables and am looking forward to finishing the adventure. :)

Not sure what happend on that last post, it didnt take the text...
Anyways, I wanted to ask if maybe the new version of NWN has messed up the module or maybe I downloaded a corrupt version. I have had this module for quite some time, about the time it was released I believe and barely started to play it.
*****SPIOLERS*****
It is labelled as V.5, however, no secret doors appear for the secret rooms, and in the prison no footprints lead to the trap door. I have spoken to 'everybody' and the tracks wont show(using a half elven PC). Oh and are the animations of the PC's supposed to look funny? By funny I mean they dont have the same normal walking and running animations, perhaps a side effect of a hak or CEP.
Should I redownload the module? Look forward to playing this module and the next, wish I could play the first but 60+ MB hak is a bit too much for someone on 56k. :)

Not as good as "Beneath the Spine" but still makes for a fun hack-n-slash romp...

Dear Seryn,
I played your excellent mod. I'd like to make you my compliments: the mod. is very fun an well done, with an overall great attention to details, great use of custom content and an intriguing plot.
I liked especially the henchman system that works perfectly.
The only minor critic IMHO is that, where BtS was overall too hard, the sequel is overall too easy (personal opinion). Perhaps the hencmen are a little bit too "powered" by any sort of magical gear.
I liked very much this mod., more that the prequel.
Bravo.
Now I'll surely play the third episode.

Thanks again for the feedback and votes. I'm glad you enjoyed this one more.
Regarding your comments, I must admit that balancing the encounter difficulty is a very tricky challenge. I try playtesting with a variety of PC classes, and always notice a fair bit of variation in difficulty. I'll try to pay very close attention to it on the next installment (and at least guarantee a greater range of difficulty, if nothing else).
I'll also be adding better and more consistent henchmen interaction, as I've since developed a much more reliable system for henchmen interjections.

Good sequel, not remotely challenging as the first and probably a bit easy. Henchmen are nice but nearly mutes. Areas are good and varied enough to have a fast paced fun adventure. _________________________ The hottest new modules you can't miss - player suggested

Played and had fun with it. It stand the passing of age much better than beneath. No bugs and very good areas to look at. Shorter but still long enough to be satysfing (mis-spelled I fear).
The thing I found quite surprising was to see how much the challenging has changed. The first was sooo hard to be practically impossible without respawn in many points. Here is mostly a piece of cake, not once I had to reload for death and I haven't even see an henchmen die. Not even the bard. Probably it's really a tad too easy, a part for that optional encounter... but that's not only optional but also quite clearly an encounter not to be had.
Hope the third will find a better balancement of challenge-fun.
voted: 7.75 mostly because it's professional. Could get better with more henchmen interaction. The good thing of having many henchmen is that they talk. Here it doesn't happen. And also the NPC are quite one-liner.

Great continuation of the series-- really looking forward to the next part!
Thanks for the suggestions! I'm definitely using the CEP, as well as Sunjammer's TileMagic and 69MEH69's Henchmen script package (you'll be able to bring up to two henchmen along on this one). I'll take a look at Tony K's AI package and evaluate integrating that as well.
I'm about ready to give it my first internal play-through, so things are going pretty well (knock on wood). I think I'm still on schedule for external beta testing in early 2005.
And if you get a chance to play 'The Fate of Neverwinter' let me know what you think (I know you will ;-).
Take care.

If I can make some suggestions for you early in your build process:
1. To use the CEP. But I know I don't need to say this, since you're on the CEP team and will most likely use it ;)
2. To use Tony_K's alternative Battle AI routines, since BioWare is too slow to fix their AI bugs, and keep introducing new ones in the patches. ("Henchman AI/Inventory mod").
MMmm, that's it I guess. When I finished RttS I was 9th level. But since you'll use (I hope) multiple henchmen, even 9th level should allow for some nice "big" fights with tough enemies. Look forward to seeing what happens... oh, and I guess now would be a good time to try that other module you published sometime in 2004.

Hack and slash at its finest. The story was okay but not as good as it could have been, though.
Thanks for the offer, LoCash! I'd be happy to have you beta test--your input is invaluable. I'll let you know when it's ready. Probably not 'till early 2005, unless I really go on a tear. :) Obviously, my goal is for it to be bigger and better than any of my previous work.
