Description
This mod is part four of 'The Infernal Crown,' a four-module campaign set in the Forgotten Realms. It is intended for single-player use with first level characters. You begin the campaign as a member of a secret society of vigilantes, whose motto is 'evil unto evil' (think Dirty Harry or the Punisher), so your character should be evil or neutral in alignment (lawful evil is ideal). Humans, Half-Elves, and Half-Orcs are ideal choices for character races. Dwarves, elves, halflings, and gnomes are not recommended. Single-class wizards, sorcerors, and rogues may have a tough time with the module, but henchmen are available to help you. No Hak-Paks are required. The Shadows of Undrentide and Hordes of the Underdark expansion pack are both required to play this campaign (older SOU-only versions are available on my website).
Below the fortress, Sumbrar, Sub-Level 2, there is a big door leading to Sub-Level 3 (I assume). One needs the key to get through the door. I don't have it nor have I been able to find it anywhere. I killed the three overreverends and have searched that room 5 times. Plus every other room all the way back to the outside courtyard.
I also can't get into the fortress which also "needs a key".
If anyone from this mod era is still alive and reading this board I hope you can clue me in. (I get stuck in the weirdest places in mods, never where everyone else has problems).

To Bob: great MOD!

The first mod in the serie is the best one - not many bugs - promising storyline... but it become so hack & slash later in other mods that it spoils all the fun...
I dont like to bash uselessly on the modders work but the creator should really do his homework and revise all the modules for a ''bug-blasting'' seance.
The rating is for the whole serie

I don't know if you check in here at all, nowadays, Bob... But, in case you do, I just thought I'd ask if you have any plans for NWN2?

Disappointment after the first three parts! Unpleasant surprise.
Even at the very beginning, the battles immediately start to get tedious, boring, repetitive and pointless.
Also, plot-vise, "sneaking" into Evereska turns out to be exactly the same as storming its gates because you end up with all the elves hostile and having to slaugther them all.
Which leads to the last problem, and the reason I deleted the mod. Credibility, or rather lack of it. A party of level 10 adventurers wiping out an ancient magically protected elven settlement? Reality check, anyone?
I prefer my modules with more realistic plots - the first three parts were good in this regard.

Very well done! You can create a new character with the 1st module and by the time you finish the 4th you will have at least a level 15. You can also save the character close to end and have an evil, nuetral, or good alignment or all 3.
I've been playing this series through and have really enjoyed it so far, but I'm having some issues at the beginning of IC IV. Hoping somebody can clarify some things for me.
I have just started this mod (w/ my very "non-tank" Monk/Wizard and all the henchmen), and I have worked my through the beholder tunnels and fought my way into the Hall of Elders. Now here's my issue: using invisiblity potions to run around the city of Evereska (after removing all of the henchmen from my party), I found the portal and snuck my way into the basement of the fortress. So, I know where to proceed TO, but I'm not certain HOW to proceed. All of the elves are automatically hostile - am I just supposed to take my party and hack my way through the entire city, into the temple of Corellan, through the fortress, down into the basement, past the stone golems and so on and so forth? Is there no way around just hacking your way through a literal army of elves? I can't believe that there is not a better way - I got the impression from the beginning of the mod when Aseph told us to "infiltrate" the city that just H&Sing wasn't going to cut it. Is this really what he meant- just kill everything in sight? Would appreciate anybody's advice with this. Thanks.
Just for anybody out there and spoiler for cryptic area in elves city. Find poem (Book) and whatever comes first press those buttons eg knees are mentioned first.
However I have to stop playing this again for bug reasons.
1) Faleran and summoned creatures will attack party members.
2) Faleran and Graveron are invulnerable to everything. Thought at first it was resisting spells but nope to everything.
3) beholders do not use rays they just bite?
4) In the elven city itself and in courtyard areas I become cursed? As soon as I am able to rest curse disappears. This may be a bug?
5) Also I wish there was n option in grav and vivs dialogoe to enable me to prevent them from summoning creatures OR could you just change what spells they have available. As I could only just make it to 10th lvl at end of III. Having xp divided by 7 was getting a bit frustrating. I would end up trying to kill the summoned creatures and compete with Grav trying to heal them
I do think it can be a very good "quad"ology but please zap the bugs

Just wanted to pop a note in on a possible glitch/game play issue.
In the Serpent hills when crossing the bridge its possible to cross over to the 2 dragons dueling AFTER you destroy the old tree. Thus you can cross over to that area but not get back. Annoying if you happen to glitch yourself due to saves.
Having a blast, though its tough with the rest scripts written sort of blanket everywhere. IV was much better in this implementation than I-III were. Lots of good solid fun in the Module.

Nice series - it provided me with hours and hours of fun. There aren't too many mods out there that are appropriate for evil characters. Thanks for building something for them! Also, it was very nice to play through a long series with several henchies. It would have been nice to have more interaction with them, of course. There were problems with them, too: Fandral often attacked Viv and my summoned succumbus, Viv said something appropriate for the beginning of part III very close to the end of the whole thing - so I may have missed something..? I didn't have any problems (that I was nicely warned about) with the henchies turning hostile in part two, but the solution that was being suggested, in order to be sure that no such problems occur, didn't work. Many of the dungeons were very nice! Outside areas I didn't enjoy that much. I enjoyed very much the fact that some of the fights were pretty difficult. They weren't too difficult, though: the resources were always available to beat any fight. I'll vote for other parts, too. My favorite was the last one; the third I found weakest. Anyway, thanks again for building; in case you'll make some new mods, I'll certainly check them out! _________________________ Forgotten Realms Weave
really enjoying mod - a refreshing change from paladins etc. i am having problems with the pedestal puzzle to get to the divine key chest - tried every combo i could think of. i think im missing/overthinking the clue "by my 12 swords" phrase. can someone please help me out? i'd really appreciate it -thanks

Hiya. This is the best mod I've played yet! I've been hooked on it for several weeks. I gave it a 9 only because of the hostile henchman bug (and I have the latest version). I only have one problem so far that I haven't found answered yet though and would REALLY like some help!
After slaughtering the Yuan-Ti in the Serpent Hills, I return to town and try to complete the quest with the one-armed man. However, when I enter the tavern, three of the NPCs were immediately hostile including the Cripple. Then every other merchant in town became hostile. What is the problem here? I've got a bunch of treasure I need to unload and potions to buy...help please!

Re: the Throne Room. (Spoilers ahead)
Apparently, the module does not recognize killing the Baatorians unless you do it yourself. My henchmen killed them for me, and Asmo didn't appear. When I had them "Stand Ground" and killed the two lightbulbs on my own, it worked out just fine.
God damn that was a good series. I played a monk assassin; in the beginning I had a really hard time, (I can't tell you what a struggle it was to overcome that zombie master) but by the end my enemies were fleeing in terror. I have to say that I really liked the moral conflict...the way I roleplayed it, my character was having growing doubts about his chosen path, and in the end sided with the forces of good. But I had to go bck and try the dark side, and damn that felt nice...
This is the most addictive series I've played. THank you, Bob, for the hours of good evil fun you provided :)

Kczirzneb: I had the same problem with IV not loading from the transition at the end of Part III. For me, the problem was that Part IV was saved in my NWN Mods folder in its own separate sub-folder (NWN/mods/InfernalCrownIV, I think). Take the files out of that folder, and place them directly under the NWN/mods folder.
I'm having a good time with this series, but my henchies are getting "splattered" (no respawn), and there's no option to Resurrect or Raise them. Could someone let me know if there's a workaround to that, and how to do it?
Also, I'm noticing that Bryar is apparently immortal, now. I just finished the Evereska part. In some of the fights, I got killed, and waited a bit before respawning, just to see what would happen. The Elves couldn't hurt Bryar, and eventually he cleaned them up. It might be his combo of equipment, but I wonder. He does have the ring of power from Redbone, too.
Fun mods, Bob! I'd like to finish IV, but WITH the henchmen.
Bob- I have a problem I haven't seen in the postings. I finished III and when I click on the the part that say make sure you have hired all of your henchman and have IV installed . I have done both. When I click on it the screen just goes black with the "hand" curser on it and nothing else happens. What am I doing wrong? I've tried reinstalling IV into the mod files. That doesn't help. I did notice that if I go to "new" game there is are I, II, and III but no IV.

Great game. It just all seemed to go wrong at the end. I take it you are not supposed to kill the main bad guy, Moloch, yourself, but wait for somebody else to do it. I had the demonscourge sword and he got a 1 on his saving throw so he disintigrated, I think time would have prohibited killing him otherwise as the odd hits on the Baatorians would have eventually killed them. So anyway, having killed him I gave the crown to the good guy, but he just kept asking me for it again, as did the bad guy, who I couldn,t give it to as the good guy now had it. I couldn't take it off moloch as he was already dead when I was asked and I had looted his corpse before I killed the last Baatorian. How should this finish 'cos I'm just stuck in a loop of people wanting the crown I no longer have. I also think the mmakers have made Red Dragon Disciples a bit to hard as neither Baatorians or Moloch did any damage to me whatsoever. Some of the guys previous did, but not a lot.
TIA phil

I'm in sublevel 3 ni the fortress, and I don't understand the pedestal puzzle at all. Is there some book I was supposed to find explaining this? And no, I have not found any other answer sources for this.

The master is hostile immediately upon appearing. You seem to be confirming that I have a faction issue. The merchants back at the village were also hostile, though outside villagers were not. While it doesn't make much sense, I assumed it was because I killed the petrified umber hulk, he was nonhostile after all. I saw other references below to the merchants being hostile, so I did not think it affected the ability to finish the chapter. The only thing that I can think of to do is export my character, put a start point next to the chest (not that I know how to do this, but I saw references to it), and restart there. The factions should be reset and hopefully opening the chest will trigger the correct sequence, rather than having me battle an untouchable master.

uh, what's supposed to happen is that a bunch of celestials appear and "master" takes the crown from you and bails. master should not be hostile to you when you first pick up the crown. he should try to initiate a conversation with you, then you might ask him for more info, at which point he reveals himself and takes the crown (if u don't give it to him yourself).
so you are saying as soon as he spawns in, he is hostile? or do you just try to attack him? he is not defeatable at that point (not without help anyway, which you will get later...)
in any case, he should not be hostile when he spawns in, unless you attack him.
