V1.06 - You start in the city of Scornubel where your father runs a less than legitimate business. You regularly take part in his dealings, and today is no different, or so you think; little do you know, you are being hunted... Henchmen/women are available and add to the story, and if you see a house, chances are you can go inside and take stuff from it (except in Scornubel), but all this stuff is in the readme.
A post for anyone considering downloading the mod or wondering when the next version will be put on the site. The (hopefully) last version of DS1 is done, and I should be uploading it on saturday if everything goes to plan. :)

Wraithchilde, I get what is being said with the making everything less boring bit, even though I would have liked to leave part 1 and move onto part 2. I'll add a load of placeables in, but don't expect any update for at least a month, as I just don't have the time. As for quests, I will try and add more evil options in part 2, as in that aspect part 1 is going to be left alone. I thought there was enough choice, but I'll do some really evil options too.

I don't think there is that much different compared to v1.04, so it may not be worth going through again. Fair points, and I'm not going to criticise, but compared to the other votes, that seems a little low don't you think? Btw, don't forget to not register ;)

Something in the 4-7 mark. That would be due to nearly all the shops I've seen bearing exactly the same stock, npc appearences conflicting (strongly) with their portraits and not much by way of visual stimulation. That being said I'll try to play through more than the begining of this new version and see how it goes.

After despeartely trying to fit the mod onto a floppy, failing miserably at finding ANY RW discs or my software for copying, and finally about an hour of searching... I found a USB thingy. I've just uploaded v1.05 finally! Damn it took a long time. Both to post the update, and upload it (33kbps)! 239 dl's (it went up by 6 as I was uploading v1.05!) and 3 votes - something very disproportionate... unless the other people intend to vote negatively, then it's ok that theyre not voting ;). Balgin, if you register, we'll all have a big party... well metaphorically anyway ;). Out of interest even if you never register, what overall mark would you give it? NPC varying, the bane of mod making, but the same problem in about 90% of mods. Although the areas may get sameish in part 1, and I do follow you on that (e.g. I have a set idea on how towns should be set out), and it was mostly rural (this is not only due to the set map, but my fault just as much, as I hate desert, and dislike regular dungeon crawls). Part 2 is a little more varied, but I don't think I can bring myself to head into the desert, esp since the journey is already literally mapped out. I am however using two very good HAKs for interior and exterior elven tilesets for some variation, and there is a small dungeon, and a few foresty bits too etc (in other words, I don't solely rely on using the rural or city tilesets alone basically in DS2. I think I'm managing to keep people and stuff varied as I go along now Balgin, but yeah, I'd appreciate you checking it out when it's done to make sure it's varied enough and properly, as (without meaning to sound sarcastic) you really sound like you know what you expect. Incidentally, I've done 55 areas for DS2 so far. They're far from full, but I've done the route the character will take mainly, with a few quests put in. I'm going to cut DS2 short probably, for 2 reasons - 1)it's getting big as it is. 2) I need stuff to put in DS3, and the way part 2 is going, DS3 would be very short otherwise, as I don't know what to do after the PC triumphs. And I'm getting carried away typing again so I'm going to stop ;)

Specialy for Lizzie I'd recommend the Pendragon Cycle by Stephen Lawhead. A very interesting take on the old tales. If I ever bother to register then I'll vote. I just haven't bothered to register yet. Currently I'd rate this mod low on visual appeal (because it suffers a bit from the Arcanum/BG problem of all the npc's looking the same and the areas not being too varied) but high on most other points. Mrmonko: if you're taking a long time loading areas when visualy tweaking you could always send me the mod when it's done for visual tweaking then I could send it back. Just an idea. And if you can't do it with a USB have you considered a CDRW? Rewriteable CD's are great for transferring reasonable ammounts of data if you've got a CD writer drive.

Ugh, got results yesterday. Spent most of day/night out with friends drinking etc. Was pretty happy with results, except for one which subject I got a D in (DO NOT LEARN GREEK!), and a paper which either needs remarking, or taking up with the school, as the marker didn't give ANYONE above 63/90 (it could mean the difference between me getting BBC or BCC). I'm getting bored of the LAN problem now. I think I'm just going to grab someones USB device and use another computer to upload the mod. I'll try and get that done tomorrow, but still on 56k :(. It does get... annoying when it disconnects about half way through. It's great just talking about this that and everything, but I wonder about the lack of other people posting or voting here though. The mod has gone off the new entries list, so just to get some publicity to get it onto the 10 votes list, I might put it up for review soon. Btw, if I vote to put another vote on, and just put a 9 like other people, is that considered bad show or acceptable? They left out a big part of the Arthur story. Don't read if you're going to watch it, even after this criticism... in every adaptation, lancelot and guinovere (however you spell it) have an affair of some sort - the movie has lancelot die on the battlefield, while she, having never talked to him seems very upset by this. I got the feeling that the ending was too rushed while the rest of the movie was drawn out for too long in comparison.

Mrmonko, Good luck with that LAN problem, too. Hope that gets fixed. And you're a redoubtable soul to be doing updates with a dial-up connection ... those uploads can be rough! BTW, I really LIKE that this page has welcomed off-topic postings, and nobody's testy about it. Gamers, despite the stereotype, often DO have interesting lives, outside of gaming, and it's fun to share glimpses of those. Balgin, Regarding Arthurian tradition, I'm fairly open-minded. I have the Mabinogion on my shelves -- also Geoffrye of M, and Thomas Mallory. I could accept as traditional something that borrowed heavily from any of them, really, though of course I have some personal preferences. The trailers looked like they largely were telling an-almost-entirely new story, just using characters with the traditional names and at least nominally the same relationships. Which isn't, just by definition, going to make the movie bad, but it IS going to make me more hesitant to spend $$ going to a theatre to see it.

Well that all depends on your view of traditional. The traditional story of King Arthur is four chapters of the Mabinogion and includes a voyage by him and his knights to the islands of the dead to retrieve treasures. Geoffrye of Monmouth has a lot to answer for. Mind you his stuff was good, same goes for the other guy but then the french really mucked it up. I haven't seen teh film but my brother said it was pretty poor.

Best of luck on your results! I was wondering about the Arthur movie -- the visuals look good, but even the trailers look like the traditional story was lost. --E
