Description
The Third Age, 2956 Upon learning of Sauron's renewal, Elrond reveals to the child 'Estel' his legacy and destiny in turn: that he is Aragorn, true son of Arathorn II and bearer of the burdensome blood of weak-willed Isildur. Aragorn leaves Rivendell unsure of himself, but intent on disavowing the notion that Man's fate is already decided. Meanwhile, Gandalf the Grey continues to focus his wanderings around the Shire, south of ancient Eriador. He is aware that Saruman has taken up in Isengard, but does not know that the White Wizard has set spies upon him...spies that even now seek the source of Gandalf's interest in that backwater region. Amidst all of this, drawing in and out of civilization like waves upon a shore, are the Dunedain. Rangers are they, of an order that has outlasted their own Kingdom by a thousand years. The evil that rises to prominence in the East once fell their homes within the North. And they will not suffer it again without response.
Great mod, Archaic. It really captures the feeling of LOTR and it was fun to boot. Detailed, in depth dialogue and well-developed characters. This gets a 10 from me, no question about it. Thanks for a sweet module. You should really consider making a module based on the Fellowship, the Two Towers, and the Return of the King. Cheers! _________________________ "Inconceivable!" The areas are too large, so the game runs slower, and the large areas are filled with little of interest, so exploring is boring and it takes a long time to walk places. The town has only two buildings oyu can go into. The plot is extremely linear. The dialog is very very good, but it alone does not save the module. There are occasional small bugs which are irritating, but no big deal. Gandalf seems exceptionally weak compared to the LOTR book (and Glamdring merely +1? - you gotta be kidding). But the final battle has such serious problems that the frustration of dealing with it drops the rating to a 2 - do not play this module unless you are exceptionally bored and don't mind not finsishing. SPOLIER: H was alive when I last saw him, but he was not at the final battle, so it was unclear how to keep a missing character "alive". After some experimentation, I dealt with the final battle by casting a "stinking cloud" or two to protect the rangers, then ran straight to the cheiftain and killed him. No rangersd appeared ot have died other than a few that were dead when I first arrived on the scene. After clearing out the remaining orcs, killed the warglord. Return to the battle. Still no sign of H. Talk to A. Nothing happens. Explore the whole map (boring), no obvious finish to the module. How frustrating.

nicely done and didn't find major bugs, loved the things Gandalf was saying, really gets you in the mood of the story, wished it lasted a bit longer

I didn't find too many bugs but I was not able to figure out the big battle with ORCS. They just keep respawning and it seems to become a Hack and Slash fest...very unlike the rest of the mod. Aragorn finally got killed and that killed me. I'll try again but I don't relish this kind of battle. What's to do? Just keep killin em I guess...try again....

well after getting in the inn at the beginning, going up the stairs and gone to sleep, i couldnt go anywhere else as the door didnt link anywhere... is that a bug or should i try it again? Also is this module for non-expension nwn or with?

Well, whether some beat the game or not, it didn't work for me. I defeated the ranger and I can't tell Mr. Butterbeer at the inn that I found the guy. I'm at a dead end. If this is a bug with the new NWN 1.65 patch, do you plan on updating the mod? _________________________ Steve's Characters - please don't forget to vote on them if you play them. Thanks, Steve

I suspect that there ARE bugs in this module, as it was a pretty amateur effort. My second module (LotR: Sons of the Steward -linked on this page) was much more professionally crafted, and the scores and comments on that page will verify this claim. Check it out and see.
