After the defeat of Heurodis in the tower of the winds, you stepped into the Shadow Portal, and disappeared into legend.... or did you?
You find yourself trapped in the Plane of Shadow with assassins and foes around every corner, not knowing who you can trust... or why. Yet you know you must escape, as you feel your life force ebbing the longer you remain in this shadowy domain. Also, you have a new adversary to contend yourself with... a young shadovar priestess, determined to do everything in her power to keep you there - or destroy you.
With the upcoming release of patch 1.69, I got inspired to update Shadohaunt! This is the biggest update since the module's original release, and has been play tested with a rogue, warrior, paladin, druid, and sorcerer. If you note any bugs, please report them here, as I will be checking this page on a daily basis.
********UPDATE: 2/22/08*************
-Removed summon spells from Shadovar
-Removed death spells from Shadovar
-Tweaked *all* Shadovar encounters
-Made Shadovar Mage in Library non-hostile for cutscene.
-Tweaked difficulty. It might be too easy for some classes now, but I'd rather that over it being impossible for others.
-Created new potions and added to stores.
-Made paint for Amelad quest a plot item.
-Changed appearance of Relic of the Reaper to fit trilogy.
-Created description for the Relic of the Reaper.
-Added poisons to select merchants.
-Added potions of Heal to merchants.
-Added "Wind Capsule" on merchants to give haste to any item (works in this module only)
-Added more powerful jewelery/armor/weapons to be more in keeping with the theme of HotU.
-Changed Underground Crypt to give Smugglers a separate area away from the Restless Elven Spirits.
-Adjusted Keepers & Embodiment of the Reaper difficulty.
-Fixed OnAcquire teleportation in Datson's Cellar.
-Added portals to the next door in Datson's Cellar.
-Added a waitress in both taverns.
-Made Walian & Sara temporarily immortal. (plot dependent)

Fun fast module with many bite-sized quests.
Went in with 17th level Monk. Gained 2 levels. My character felt too strong most of the time.

Not sure I tried this with 1.69

Just played through this for the first time. I used my Fighter / Paladin / CoT that I finished SoU with. I was level 13 when entering the Module and 17 when finishing. That was not a big surprise considering the huge amounts of xp given for almost everything. The fights where quite easy and the loot was kind of a Monty Haul. I finished with more than two Million gold and very good equipment.
Apart from that, the module played nice although I sometimes wished for more dialogue options, sometimes nothing fitted a lawful good character.
Nevertheless, thank you for creating this module.

Thanks for this, just finished it for the 1st time.
I took a Fighter/Thief 6/7 through with Misha as my travelling companion. I had played the Mischa add-on in SoU so being able to continue with her was a bonus and I equipped her well. :)
I found the fights hard enough to keep you thinking but not so insanely hard as to need to repeat fights too often.
Magic weapons and stuff were cool, not sure I'd want to be a spell caster.
Well done!

I've played this module, but I don't see me ever having left a comment or vote!!! This is my chance, and having played this over fully with two different characters several times with both, I can give a detailed thought.
First but foremost, I would like to say how well this seals up SOUT, it leaves answers as to what happenned until HOTU, thus giving you a limited idea of how you got the relic, what happenned while you entered the plane of shadow, and resolving issues with the NPCs... slightly.
Now, this is just from me, but the representation of Shar seemed, poor in this module. My thought is that the author knows very little about Shar, and completely thinks Shar and Lolth are very similar. Truth is Shar and Lolth are no where near similar. Also, as playing a character that worships Shar, I find it odd about the enemy you would have, let alone her being so on so forth (I'm not revealing spoilers).
In addition to this, it would have been really nice if you companions would actually desire to enter conversation involving your actions. You can play as good or evil, lawful or chaotic, in the module, actions for each is displayed, but your companion shows no interest outside a desire to leave the plane of shadow.
All in all, I give this module a 9.75, since it satisfied me greatly in the end. If the author would take up learning about my preferred deity and implement this in the module, or would add things to the henchmen, or tweak the villian, I'd improve to a full 10. _________________________ @===============================================@
Vinchenzo made a post here.
Plz check out my entries. I'm currently making a few simple modules, designing 3 special characters, and hope to someday be good this stuff.
This is Vinchenzo, finishing his post with the following advice:
Don't use Latin improperly (Lupis means grey, Rufus is red, Canid is dog, so on.) Furries annoy me with their improper usage of such. And I'm a furry!!! Ugh...
Don't vote for Beta things unless told they are finished, unless posted specifically by the author.
Don't abuse the vote and post function, don't vote for your own/friends stuff just to get a high vote. Don't flame vote either just to be an ass.
There is a voting system for how the points are used, even I forget, but we should follow it (and tattoo it to our forehead, lol)

****SPOILER****
You can talk to her without walking into the ring of death. You just can't get close enough to attack her. Use the Relic of the Reaper on her to make her vulnerable.
I'm in class right now so I can't double-check it, but that should work. If it doesn't, please let me know.
I was wondering if anyone could help me. I've played through this module (and checked the walkthrough earlier in these posts) yet I'm still stuck on what to do with Kaleth. I'm in Kaleth's chambers (2nd encounter) and she's standing inside a glowing red ring. If I try to cross the ring (even through the open gap between 2 lights) I get instantly killed (even with god mode activated). Since I have to enter the ring to talk with her its impossible for me to complete this module. Is there something I'm missing or is this glitch a game ender?
I'm currently using the most recent version of this module.

@ rollory: You have to remember - this module was created for a contest with less than a month given to build it, from start to finish. HotU wasn't released yet, so we had no idea what we were leading up to. We were just told, "Make something to go between the two expansions. Make the players go from level 12 to 15. Use an item called the Relic of the Reaper." Make more sense now? ;)
@ Eva Galana, Aratoeldar, & E_H_Bonner - Thank you very much! :)

Easily the best SoU to HotU bridge module that I have played. I love the fact that you can chose which henchman you want to bring along. The story is very good. The combat is challenging but not difficult.

Great bridge mod - ran through with a pure monk and had a blast.
Some parts felt very 'unpolished' - little things like items without descriptions and some of the 'action text' felt pretty fake. And the impenetrable darkness just got irritating.
Some of the parts were fantastically thought out - I loved the history being unfolded in the palace with what happened, felt very immersive.
The mages started to really bug me - having to constantly reload after all those auto-kills (even though I was wearing the 'immune to death magic' gloves!) got really old, really quick...
The Shadow estate was a great idea, and the "summon a shop" was genius!
All in all, a darn good effort that was the first community mod I've played so far.
Well done!

X,
I didn't receive it. Crap, seems to be a problem with NWN e-mail through profiles. Do you mind posting yours?

Xxtayce, I tried to contact you as this module hit standard Hall of Fame (not HoU contest winner.)
This was some time ago, so please e-mail me and I can ask you the general, yet special Neverwinter Vault question. ;) _________________________ Steve's Characters - please don't forget to vote on them if you play them.

Dawnseeker - Working on another as we speak :)
Steve_Savicki - All the mini quests give you items that you need to fix the lever.
Calgach - Yeah, I know it's very hack & slash... was going for the Bioware theme. ;)
Olga - You're welcome!
Purple Aki - The restless spirits don't care who is in their "realm". You're disturbing their sleep just as much as the smugglers.
Jamro - I might go back and update the combat, but not any time soon, I'm afraid. Busy, you know... =p
Posted by Jamro at 2006-06-06 01:38:17 Voted 7.50 on 06/06/06
A decent piece, but considering how hack&slash this was, the combat was very repetitive. Endless groups of cloned invisible shadow mages casting their summons.
Posted by Purple Aki ( 194.81.xxx.xxx ) at 2006-05-17 17:41:22
Decent module, though the shadow mages get a little bit much for non-casting PCs (as already noted). One niggle is with one of the crypt quests ( *spoiler *):
The baelnorn asks you to deal with the smugglers. Why on earth do you have to fight them alongside the restless elven dead that inhabit the tomb? They practically team up with the smugglers to kill you, which is just silly. Really, the restless elven spirits should've been in another area, or simply not set as hostile.

This was as good as any other hack and slash community made mod I've played, at least the good ones. I guess it's not really fair to say it's as good as the bad ones.

Dabifo - I'm very glad you enjoyed my module! I'm working on another, but my free time is currently very limited, unfortunately. We'll see how that goes.
Manny Jabrielle - (see below for comments on rogues/rogue hybrids.... it's not gonna happen with this mod, unfortunately.)
m452shakespeare - I've had a few criticisms about the ranger/rogue aspect of my module, and I must admit... I'm terrible at playing both classes, so it's not something I even really think about when designing a module. Definitely something I'll keep in mind for future creations. I'll look into that infinite money thing... (though all your items are stripped at the beginning of HotU)
Floran - Thanks! It's pretty impossible to make it challenging for certain classes (especiallly paladin or cleric hybrids) while keeping it playable for others (rogues, etc). I tried the best compromise possible.
Ezzetabi - Lo siento, I'll look into adding Clarity Potions with my (eventually forthcoming) future version.
Amywien - Gah! I had it that way for a while, I think I saved over an old file name with dashes. You just need to show hidden files and you'll find it, if you're having any difficulties. Can always rename when it's unzipped.
PawnMover - Working on a Wheel of Time based one right now, but time is a luxury I find myself without, at the moment! It'll probably not come out till well after my winter break from school, at least. :(
Zandor - Flattery gets you everywhere! I'd love to work for Bioware, le sigh. Maybe one day..!

Very good! I enjoyed this one a lot. I will use it as my default bridge module. Could use some polishing in some places however. For example there is a quest to rescue someone wife, that I can't finish because the slaver is already dead and I have no access to his main lair.
