---- LONE WOLF CHAPTER 2: MYSTERIES IN THE NIGHT ----
This is the second chapter in my series 'The Chronicles of Lone Wolf', based on the Lone Wolf gamebook series of the '80's.
This module was revised as of 8/7/2005. To play this module, you will need to carry over a character from 'Lone Wolf Chapter 1: Test of the Sun', or create a new character, using the custom Kai Lord class provided with the module. You will also need to make your character Male, and use the name 'Lone Wolf'. This is done for story purposes. Other than that, you are welcome to customize your character as you see fit.
The Kai Lord class grants you one special feat per level from a 'Kai Discipline' feat list. You will have to use this extra feat on the Kai Discipline list. Please refer to the in-game descriptions for the abilities granted from these Kai Disciplines.
If you have any questions, feel free to email me at [email protected]

Overall I agree with the crowd. The author did a good job recreating the Kai Lord powers and the World/Pantheon. The scripting and use of cutscenes is pretty good too. The story however is quite linear and there is little if any reward for the player (limited sense of achievement).
5-6: A good effort that fans of the style will find worth the download

Some minor bugs, but other than that, great! _________________________ Steve's Characters - please don't forget to vote on them if you play them.

Wonderful story, and fun to play through.

One of the best sequals around, real shame the series never got finished. The few bugs I encountered take the score down a bit, nothing major fortunately. The cloak system was royally annoying at the beginning, but with time I did learn to ignore it...
I can still recommend this to anyone who's into linear mods and doesn't mind the series dying here.

found it, it is downright bizarre, but apparently there are two versions of 1.04, and I had the older one. _________________________ I do not have a superman complex; for I am God, not Superman!

PS. I am using win7 64bit, and v1.69. I tried removing all other hakpacks and this did not solve the issue _________________________ I do not have a superman complex; for I am God, not Superman!

@ordshonikidse: there is no "converting" of exe to mods, the exe is an installer that will automatically extract all hak, mod, etc files into their proper directories... in windows.
The two mods together are a grand total of 19 files, so this simplifies things.
If you want to install it on a mac, simple rename it from "exe" to "zip". Then extract it, inside you will find the bioware module installer, a manifest file, and the rest of the files are the nwn files. Ignore manifest file and bioware module installer exe, copy the hak files into your hak dir and mod files into modules dir. _________________________ I do not have a superman complex; for I am God, not Superman!

Truely a roleplaying module. Excellent in roleplay department. Sad that the whole series was not finished. Can any one try to continue the mod building. Better that the first mod, Good details. Good roleplay if I played this 5years ago. I would have given this straight 10 or near 10 even with bugs. And I follow a strict Voting guideline. _________________________ Neverwinter Balance Patch Balance Patch

For anyone wanting to open the two Lone Wolf modules in the toolset you need to fix the classes.2da in the LW_Main_2da.hak extract classes.2da and edit entry 32, label Kai_Master the column that needs fixed is the SavingThrowTable the entry CLS_SAVTHR_DIVCHA needs to be changed to CLS_SAVTHR_WILD or some other valid entry when you've made that change you can then put it back into the hak and you should have no problem with the toolset crashing. (If your looking for tools to do this NWN has a hak editor in the utils folder and if your careful you could use notepad to edit the 2da or use an editor from the Vault there are several available)
To get the acid damage added to your weapon you must edit a variable, it seems that when you give him the flower it arrives at the state it should be at after you have gotten the upgrade. To get past this give him the flower then copy/paste into the chatbox:
##DebugMode 1
##dm_setvarint N_ADDED_ITEM_MOD 0
Click on Master Soul Seeker
##DebugMode 0
you should then have the upgrade option when talking to him.
A lot of work for 1 acid damage.

Story was fascinating, much better than the first part. But I still can't approve 0 exp. system, like I said when I commented on the first module. (Anyway, I'm pleased that I get the chance to kick Swift Blade ^_^)
Thanks and well-done.

The issue with not being able to open in the toolset seems to stem from the LW_Main_2DA.hak if you rename or move it and then take any of your other haks make a copy and give it the same name as the hak you'll be able to open it in the toolset.
Not sure what it is about that hak thats causing the issue but you'll probably have to find out if you want to make any changes to the mod. Your best bet is to remove 2das from the hak till you find the one that makes it go boom.

While it is mainly a single storyline module, this is one of the best built stories and modules. Fun for the entire family, great for a long weekend. I only regret that their won't be more chapters. ~sigh~ At least there are Lone Wolf books out there. (not to be confused with Lone Wolf and Cub)

I have some serious issues with this module. I'm normally not this critical, but it's been quite annoying.
First, the cloak design is just bad. I have to stop moving before the cloak looks right. When I move, the real cloak flaps yellow while the green part just stays there.
Second, trying to fight the burrowcrawlers in the cave is almost impossible. They absorb 5 points of damage and I have a weapon that does 8+str. bonus and the characters are only 2nd level.
Third, I brought the ingredient that Soul Seeker asked for and there was no option to add the acid damage to my weapon.
Besides these, this is an okay start for beginning players.
Is he dead? :/ Last time I heard he was working on a premium mod or something.

It's a great module, and I love it. At the end of the game, there's mention of a continuation to the series, but I can't find it. Has it been released? If not, is it in the works?
...what rogues? _________________________ Stupidity should hurt...a lot...

Very good but like many modules its a start and it it will never get an ending.
Midnigth the encouter in the glades only happens if you listen in a lot of conversations. Listen to the rogues threaths to Rena and her lover. Enter the new captains mansion pick the map and a shovel. You will be atacked after digging.Show to Mayor, who will place Rena in house arrest. Follow rogues leaving town and the rest should be linear enough.
Some help please? I'm stuck on the murder investigaton...I have the map that says to go to the glade, but when I check out BOTH glades, nothing happens! I already talked to the wizard guy about the ritual and am waiting. I also talked to the girl whom apparently is connected somehow to the new guard captain...
Some tips please? _________________________ Stupidity should hurt...a lot...
I just played these mods and I thought they were very fun. Now I want to play them again to play through what I missed. I was a huge fan of the Lone Wolf Series when I was in highschool (still have all the books) and I think this is a great homage to it. Its really a pity that this appears to be the last one.
There is one detail that I have issue with though.
In the books, the main character's "Kai name" is actually "Sun Wolf" while he is an initiate. He doesn't change his name to "Lone Wolf" until all of the other Kai have been massacred (this was Summerlund's 911) and his quest for vengence starts (not really a spoiler since it happened before the first book started.) It really doesn't make sense that he should be called Lone Wolf before this event, so I am very curious about Altaris' decision regarding this.

This module could use a LOT more polish, but the essential action is so good that it nevertheless warrants a very high score.
THE GOOD
.The story to be uncovered during the murder investigation was absolutely top-notch, and despite the bugs here and there, well-worth the download to experience, as one might experience a great short story. Intriguing twists and gripping excitement at the end: Excellent writing.
.A post-adventure wrap-up, which gives some closure to the story. Very few modules do this properly, I feel.
THE BAD
.The Wild Boar looks suspiciously like a small, reddish, beholder.
.The Gloves of the Kai does not in fact appear to give a general attack bonus, although it does appear that wearing it negates the Attack of Opportunity that is normally drawn by making an unarmed attack without the Improved Unarmed Combat feat.
.Investigating the murder - Prior to the discovery of foul play, there is no real reason for suspecting anyone, but the available dialogue options allow this.
.I had the map and a shovel even before finding Albright's body, but couldn't uncover anything until scripted late in the investigation.
.Townspeople have murder-investigation-related dialogue even after the murders were completely resolved, until after the Ranger directs the PC to meet in the Woods.
THE WIERD
.There were at least 2 "Peck Overhills".
.The dialogue at the inn with the Ranger did not fire until I tried to go back down the stairs.
.The ranger has Weapon Focus with two-bladed sword, but does not in fact have that weapon on him.
.Why is everyone and their dog a dual-wielder?
that has probably been asked before, but why only .exe-files?
i remember playing part one on my mac (and enjoying it very much), now i take a look again and even part one is an .exe
i'm curious, what are the problems "converting" .exes into .mods?
