Description
Dark forces threaten the desert city of Yylarium. Lost shards of the Midnight Orb, shattered centuries ago, are sought by many agents with different agendas. Will Set's minions gain the dark artifacts? Or will a different power threaten the political balance? In this sequel to Midwinter Festival and Midsummer Knights' Dream, the PC learns the truth behind the struggles in Kerendas and Yylarium. Will a new future be forged by the master of a black magic, or will the forces of light see clear to a new dawn?

Hi Marc! Wow...I just played all 3 of your mods in a row, and really enjoyed them! I know it's a longshot, but I have Saved & Exported my character in the hopes that Part 4 may happen someday! :)
Either way, thanks a million for a wonderful trilogy!
Thanks Snowdog! And thanks everyone for your support - Steve, Daddy Lewis, Copperhawk, Razide0506, Edosan, Morgennes, and everyone who has shared these adventures. It's truly a pleasure to check in here and see the great responses.

I just finished this part. There was no problem with Orb scripting here. When I left with the larger Orb, it gave me the final cut-scene/resolution.
Overall a very well put together little trilogy. Excellent use of the Journal. Well fleshed out city areas.
Combat if anything was a little on easy side, but that is better than multiple reloads in my book.
Good pacing. It never felt like I was spending to much time at anything (reading/exploring/fighting etc) so it never felt tedious or like work.
I need something for my character to continue with now...

scripting is outdated - recognizing the character has the larger orb doesn't happen anymore. _________________________ Steve's Characters - please don't forget to vote on them if you play them.

Good Afternoon Marc,
Well done on Midwinter Festival, Midsummer Knight and Midnight Calling! I enjoyed all and really, really thank you for the 'boots of speed' in MNK. I found two things in MNC that struck me and one was hilarious. That's when the Ogre Berserkers in the barn, SE Desert, literally flopped down and went to sleep after my PC told them they were relieved. Now that was funny! Kama then promptly shot them without my PC telling her to. What's with her? The other was the sky writing in Ra's Temple. It was totally unexpected. Nice touch. One more thing, (spoiler), was putting Alovina's note in the skull. I couldn't leave Yylarium until I'd read it. That was very devious. The only sad thing I have to say is the episodes, for me, were too short. I seemed to just get into them when they came to an end. Wish they all had been longer.
To save time, I'm going to post these same comments on the NWN websites for your games and cast my vote of ten for all three. I haven't checked yet but will now, to see if you have any other endeavors available.
Thanks again, Marc, for all of your hard work for us gamers and your personal assistance to me when asked.

Very engrossing. I enjoy it every moment and thanks for creating this game!

This module didn't impress me quite as much as it's predecessor. It's fairly short and linear, and the story never really quite grabbed me. Having to carry water adds a touch of realism, but it quickly becomes tedious when you have to refill your waterskin in every single area. As with the prior entry in this series, the fights were challenging and the loot was handed out sparingly. The areas were nicely designed, and there's an impressive visual effect involving fire spelling out words. Overall though, I thought this was a well-done module, but it didn't quite live up to it's predecessor

Excellent trilogy with a good story. I hope to play it again someday.

Excellent mod,
it was fun to meet again sir Rubin - what a character !
Tanks a lot and looking forward for part IV.
I am really glad you enjoyed the trilogy! Thank you for the comments; it was a pleasure sharing these with you.
Take care,

Wow! I thoroughly enjoyed the series. This was a nice wrap up to everything, unless you're thinking of a part 4 ;).
I liked the custom stuff you put in there and didn't expect it to end the way it did, but I thought the ending was a nice touch. Great story overall! One of the best series I've played!
Thank you so much guys and girls for your inspirational praise. Checking in after a long absence, it is wonderful to find you folks enjoying these works.
I am doing little new work with NWN at present, but our hobby lives on and takes new forms. All the best to everyone, and thanks again!
I just played the trilogy through for the second time and appreciated it all the more. I was especially struck by the quality of the dialogue and character interactions, and the level of detail involved in making the mods true sequels (not just sequels in name only like many other mods on the Vault). I will miss Sir Rubin popping up in my games....
I also appreciated the level of coherent and interesting political/religious theory that was going on in the plotlines. And I was again impressed by how many custom scripts there were and how smoothly they worked. Like any trilogy, some installments are stronger than others, etc., but this is arguably the most satisfying series on the Vault. Thanks again!

Sorry for above, voted for MKD here on accident. Shouldn't vote on multiple modules at a time. MC is perhaps the best of the three modules. Water is now important to play, though hitting the right spot with a shovel is hard to do. None of the conversation errors I got in the previous module. Well-crafted and fun. _________________________ The road to Ravenloft is paved with good intentions.

Though you have to carry a water bag, there is no penalty for not filling up with water like in the sequel. After you find the hidden base you are returned to the map where it is still hidden after exiting. Lots of little things take from the enjoyment. Still good over-all. _________________________ The road to Ravenloft is paved with good intentions.

Midnight Calling is much more like the previous module in this series--Midsummer Knights' Dream--than the first module in this series, Midwinter Festival. Like it's predecessor, it is short, very linear, features a desert setting, uses smallish maps, has Kama for a henchman, and the main plot revolves around a hunt for some magic items. Truth be told, many of my comments for Midsummer Knights' Dream apply to this module, too. In fact, while I like shortish modules, I actually kind of felt this game was over too quickly, and there isn't as much buildup as there was in the first two games. You know very little about certain adversaries, and when you kill them it doesn't feel like they were that much of a threat. In fact, the final battle in the game didn't feel all that...special to me, because one NPC was only referenced, and the other pretty much just came out of the blue.
In spite of that, though, I think the series ends up being worth more than the sum of its parts. There is a lovely setting, a plethora of interesting characters and ideas, and the gameplay flows pretty smoothly overall and is simply *fun* without being frustrating. I can definitely tell the author spent a lot of time with this setting, and it certainly shows--there is a definite sense of authorial "care" here that I like. I can honestly say this series has left me wanting more (probably one reason this module is a bit disappointing--it's over not long after it starts), and I can be counted as one of those who would love a sequel, even though I won't be holding my breath for it.

By far the best and most engrossing 3 serial mods I've played for NWN!!....used to be a die-hard fan of Dungeon Siege 1&2, but this series has me hooked!!...played all 3 over 2 days!...disappointed I didn't get to finish the side-quests in pt 3 though.....now going to attempt 'Tales'.
More please!!!.....fantastic work!
Thanks for giving me a GREAT weekend!!

Another wondermous example of storytelling; has humor, pathos, and fantasy lore all in one. The only reason why I do not like this one as much as MKD(Pt 2) is that I simply wish it was not another scavenger hunt driven mod. But the overall effect, esp when attached to the remaining series is amazing work. Very well done!
My fave moment in the game may have been the sphinx duo. This is a scene I would enjoy seeing in a film; had me laughing out loud in my chair. I also appreciated the toll Trolls, and me getting to play the goat to remove them.
I also like the way you have several options as to which path the player wishes to move along in this quest. This is s great example of placing non-linear choices within a focused story.
Highly recommended!

Marc a couple of comments..
Well I finally finsihed; having been distracted by real life and Wyvern Crown for a brief period.
Of course I continued to love it and proclaim myself the number 1 fan boi of this series...
A couple of quick notes...
I was a little disappointed at first I didnt board an airship nor fight on a cloud; however the pyramids of a long dead society made me soon forget....
A potential design note...I picked up a "magic lamp" in one of the first 2 episodes - I dont recall which. I kept it; I keep everything unusual(I am a packrat) I was able to give this first lamp to a certain "cat" in the defiled temple of Ra without journeying to the farm... this might cause a little confusion abut heading west....
Anyway..to further add to it..please consider finishing Equinox in NWN1 if DLA doesnt take you away.. NWN2 will be a fine game in time..but Airships and so many good things you have done in the NWN1 engine will make it a real achievement.

...As I awoke from my dreams I was once more facing the splendid Kama...could I find peace and the beauty of this sweet dessert rose among the barren sandy dunes... No peace it was not; at least not a first..is it ever peace? The gods and the lizard folk had combined to steal this dark orb and threaten the ways of these proud folk; once again I am to be their Eternal Champion... And so i journey through the southern desserts seeking the dark orbs; battling these upstart wizards; battling these would be god lizards...The orbs are found but it will require the ultimate sacrifice to destroy...am I to sacrifice all yet again?
I have little to add to my previous votes. Here is a mod series in the true "high fantasy sense". I wonder if there is an overlooked Hall of Fame series...this might be it. Bug free, interesting plot that is well thought out, and this mod still runs perfect as of patch 168 a couple of years since it was released.
Please consider finishing Equinox in NWN1 Marc.. this series is amazing and you make the most of the game. I am sure the new game will be great in time...but this series is one for the ages.

Great mod! Definitely a satisfying Part 3. I felt it was a bit too short though, not enough side quests maybe? Or maybe I just didn't manage to find them.. Liked the ending :) [I suspect there were a few choices?] Thank you
Neilium, you're very welcome, and thanks for your post!
Steve and Kenrae, I haven't decided what to do with part 4 yet. I am engaged in other projects, as Lariam mentions above, but be assured I will be returning to Equinox at some time in the future. I am leaning at this point towards NWN2.
Susan, Armaranth, battybaby, felicitas, thanks for the posts and support. I've enjoyed sharing with you!
Congrats for the writing job in DLA. I've only played the first module of this seemingly most excellent series, but I can say, on the basis of that only, that the choice wasn't a bad one. Hopefully we get to read some of your DLA-writing soon. :)

Hi Marc!
You've heard it all before, but I really enjoyed all 3 "Mids"! I just played them all together as a trilogy (took me about a week) and had a ball!
Add me to the list for Part4 for NWN though, as I'm still running an older(1.2G)PC which won't allow me to play NWN2.
Thanks for all your hard work and many hours of fun! :-)

Fantastic conclusion to the trilogy! I almost got stymied in the abandoned farmhouse. It made me really work to solve the mystery and I like that! I really like your descriptive text, your characters are very real with personalities. Thanks for creating a wonderful set to play!

Great Module, very good balance of role-play and fighting. My only idea for future improvement would be to make the fights a little bit tougher.
I hope you are writing a fourth part.
