Description
(June 10, 2008) Some dialogs ameliorations made by Ginni in preparation of the release of Episode III.

(May 3, 2007) Removed the parchment that was in front of the castle doors (it was a short-cut for testing and not meant to be in the actual module)

A big thank too to all those who have taken part in this translation project: firstly Kaelidan, who has nurtured this project for more than 9 months... Eo Nomine and Tamburlane, who have the good taste to be bilingual... And all the others: Goran, Mohunga, Tim Dedopoulos, Berndt Wolff, Kael's girlfriend, J.Macles, Kirian Dunbir etc...AND, last but not least Moreen Carvan who has made a great tester job!

SETTING: You will play in an altenate medieval Europe around the XIII° or XIV° century...France and Burgondy are enemies, for the last one took its independency 150 years before...

STORY: Your character is a rather famous mercenary. He has been dallying abroad and has decided to come home. He is an illegitimate son (namely a bastard) of the family of the Count of Kosigan, vassal of the Duke of Burgundy.
On his arrival in Kosigan he is invited into the castle cellars by one of his old acquaintances: Slynt Carrayan, head of the famous Gray Guard...

Last version 3 may 2007

Note that if you don't have the english version of NWN you will encounter few translation problems (nearly only with creatures and objects names and descriptions)...Nevertheless, you should be able to understand the story without any difficulty. (you feel free to send me reports so that I can improve the translation for your version of the game).

IF YOU THINK THAT THE FIGHTS ARE REALLY TOO DIFFICULT, please lower the difficulty level of the game or/and take a higher level character with better equipment.

If my saves are crashing does that mean I'm screwed and have to start again? or is there a chance that they will load properly if I keep trying

Almost perfect, but some content that is still not appropriate.

As others before me have posted, I too experienced a lot of crashes-to-desktop when trying to save and/or load saves. That, combined with Journal Entries not updating after completed quests, prevented me from casting a higher vote. (I still had 8 at the mod's end.)

Being offered to Export Character at Endgame was a plus though, and I enjoyed the game! Onwards to episode 3! :)

It was an interesting follow, however, did not riveted like the first episode. And I had the same problem with loading the game.

Couldn't played this one. It's a pity, since one of my friend played it a few monthes ago with no such problems! :(
I wonder if someone could do something to fix that?
(However, I can't bear seing this mod at 9.69...)

Could be very good.......if it would load!!

Good, and then MAJOR BAD. That save game bug is the bane of my life. I have tried deleting the current game folder, tried recompiling, tried every bug fix mentioned. Nothing works.

When I recompiled I think I found the source of the issue however. There is a number of errors in your module that show up when being compiled. It seems to be missing a number of resource files that are quite important. This is probably the source of the save issue.

I also played the first chapter, then this one. Again everything is fitting. I would give this a 10 but the save/load bug annoyed me a lot. Luckily this chapter is not very long so with lots of time you could finish it in an evening without save/load.
(I could only save/load in Erins house without the game crashing everytime. Sometimes I have to load it a few times even there. Don´t know why!)

Played the first chapter, then this one. The second is about half as long as the first, and more linear, but still just as enjoyable. I took off a point for the loading bug though, but it should not be a deal breaker for anyone that can do the entire module all at once. It'll probably take you two to four hours to accomplish this, maybe a little more if you're like me and try to do every single thing you can.

I did manage to somewhat fix the loading bug on my own, however. Going by the advice of a poster below, I opened the module in the toolset and compiled it, then saved it. After doing that, my save loaded with no problem and I was able to continue.

Incredible work as in the first chapter. I wanted to give this one a 10 as well, but noted one problem with the module. After many attempts to extract myself from the situation, I ended up having to reload a previously saved game. Every time I tried to retrieve one of the items from the wall in the cells located in the basement (where the children are being held captive), I would literally get stuck to the wall. I was unable to retrieve all the items in any of the cells, and even if I managed to get myself out, I would simply become stuck again on any of the reattempts.

Other than this minor oops, I enjoyed this chapter just as much, if not more, than the first. The work that has gone into this piece of work is nothing short of amazing. Your translator deserves a major high-five for the great job on reworking this, and the other chapters, into English. I noticed very few errors in spelling or grammar in any of the pieces of work. Once again, I simply couldn't stop playing it until I was finished. Can't wait to start the 3rd and 4th installment.

Nowhere near as enjoyable as the first in the series. A major let down in fact after the first in the series which was excellent!
Too many issues with this one, issues experienced by others who played previously. Too many save game crashes! The contract on Alexis makes no logical sense, so what is point of it?
Also the being led around by a leash as it were is most infuriating as it does not give player a chance to really immerse him or herself in the Mod!
Just a bit of an anti climax after the first Mod and leaves me less than enthused about playing 3 and 4 in series. A shame despite the obvious large amount of work that went into the Mods. Played first Mod more than once now but I wont be playing the second in series again such was the annoyance with the crashes in particular.

Posted by GhostNWN at 2010-05-18 03:37:13
The deletion would assume that you had some old outdated files however, would it not?
In that case only loading of a savegame at the end of Ep1 would be required before loading an Ep2 savegame?

Why would it have to be an Ep1 _end_ savegame however if the same resources are loaded both at a _start_ save and an _end_ save?

Posted by ericdoman at 2010-05-09 08:22:49    Voted 9.75
I believe I have solved the problems with saved games and crashes. It is still a bit time consuming but here goes.

I deleted all Btard files, haks, 2da etc and reinstalled. Loaded up the end part of Exile of West and then load saved game from Btard of Kosigan and it worked. Unfortunately if you have to reload a saved game you have to do the same again. It has to do with the overrides and prestige classes, I think. As this is the only game that has new prestige classes.

As below with crashes on saved games. Played through part 1 with no problems and about half way through part 2. Still in city just killed X, the person who arranged assassination of Erine's husband.

Still no completed journal entry when it comes to te relics or no recognition of killing rats in sewers.

Only had 2 saved games for part 2 and both crash. Don't really want to start again. Is there anyway of sorting this out? Noticed comment about changing video settings?
A bit latenow. It seems the only way to play through is not to save at all and grin and bear the consequences of death, xp loss and wrong decisions in dialogue?

Playing through as a sorceror on hardcore which is probably out of context with the way the B should be played but different and any class is allowed.

Even so Help!

Great mod.! Been a while since I played a module outside the OC, and I am enjoying this saga very much.

ONE PROBLEM though, that was quite annoying with THIS module (and not the 1st or 3rd of the series, and I hope not with the 4th as well):
Many times, when I loaded a saved game, the game simply CRASHED.
Is this a known issue?

Posted by Seatroll at 2010-03-17 16:57:12    Voted 10.00 on 03/17/10
Hey Fabien. I really enjoyed your modules. I already completed Exile of the West and now stopped on BoK episode 2. But often crashes (especialy when i try to load my saved game) just ruined all the fun :( And unfortunately i guess this will force me to skip ep 2 and play 3 and 4.

I beg of you to fix this crashes because i really love the storyline in your modules and dont want to miss anything :) I want to complete all your modules.

Wish you luck and inspiration :)

The first part of this story was great!
This one was more problematic than enjoyable!

Hundred others mentioned this before and I agree: I hate this crashes while I am loading a save-game!

I usually had to try four times and every time starting the game again...

The story musn´t be linear, but as far as you have finished the questwith the spy I was mentioned to enter the palace and got no other help for alll the other open quests. If I try to talk to (what was his name?) ... again, I just could tell him that there are no guards to open the door, although I even didn´t try to enter the palace. (Nearby... the guards were still at the same place!) I could get a houndred keys for the palace, but no helping instructions. So I had to do the quest and afterwards I just got the information that "This is the end!" . I tried this module again to check if and where I have made mistakes because of all the open quests, but I even couldn´t success with all this!

SPOILERS:

I couldn´t finish the monk-quest (temple) because I couldn´t find some opium anywhere!

I couldn´t finish the quest for my unmarried cousin because when I tried to tell his promised wife is gone now and the woman he wanted to marry agreed to wait three months he just asked me what I want.

I couldn´t finish the quest with the missing sisters/clones because I decided not to arrest them but to let me give information and let them go.

I didn´t find any hint for a quest for the burning village with the dragon but a small boy I sent to my old nurse and afterwards never saw again. Well okay, it was just a small little dragon which burnt the whole village and the neighbours didn´t recognize or ask. Why not?

In the palace I got a key with no hint where to use it.

I "poisoned" my uncle and just one guard in front of the door attacked me?

I opened the gate to the village and the guard always told me that the gate is closed.

Just a few examples of all the fun I had!

Perhaps I would have been better with a little quality-control!

Almost as good as "Exile". An enjoyable mod.
Marked down because the Modesty Veil was mandatory rather than optional (not sure why this installment has an adult rating) and the constant crashing while loading a save was extremely frustrating.
The loading from a save problems with this mod should be fixed. The problems are with the module, not as a result of some people having an underpowered computer.

Posted by Reduan at 2010-02-12 17:31:41    Voted 10.00 on 02/12/10
Well I personally very much enjoyed the story. Like the others had much crashes, but the story is the most important thing for me. Complex, interesting and to my liking. So my score is 10.

PS: cannt get Master Lodaus placeholder tough I met him and talked with him even about heartgems... :/

Posted by GabrielGrave at 2009-12-21 14:55:58    Voted 7.00 on 12/21/09
Like it's predecessor this mod is well written, complex, and the options to rp really give you're pc real character instead of turning his into another boyscout with a hero complex...
And in my opinion this mod should be one of the few mods that deserve a score above but for all fairness I just can't give it that score no mater how good the story is. The frequent crashes while loading really destroy any enjoyment and the lack of a walkthrough ( which is quite necessary in a mod this complex ) are major downsides.

I ussualy do like to find solutions to quests on my own but since reloading is such a pain (sometimes it takes a dozen tries to load properly) I cant really (just don't have the patience) go back and explore every option.

The least you guys could do is post a in which order you should visit the areas to fully enjoy the game, so you avoid situations like trying to convince Myrina (was that her name??) in Arcourt to not go through with her contract despite the fact that I had no clue of what contract my pc was talking about....

Fix these issues and I will change my vote.

The bastard son of Kosigan is a real nice series I do hope that Ginni will translate the rest of the series thanks to you both for these fine mods.

About the crashes when loading savegames in episode2:
For me it worked to set all "Video" and "Sound" settings to minimum and load the savegame then, though it happened that it still crashed from time to time but by slightly changing the video options to a higher value (texture quality and size) I always got my savegame to load none of them were actually corrupted.

This was a great RP mod and one I plan on playing again as soon as part V has been translated by the wonderful Ginni! Geez! I almost cringe to think of other mods we all may have missed because there isn't anyone who is willing or able to put in the time necessary to translate them for those of us who are solely English speaking players! Ginni, my thanks for this. It is a great piece of work and I look forward to replaying it with all 5 parts!

I'm very very impressed by the series so far! And I wonder how it will end.

My saves started corrupting again, but I think I found a fix.

I went into the currentgame folder in my NWN folder and deleted the saved game in there. I was then able to load my old saves which had stopped loading.

Posted by Darpaek at 2009-09-27 06:47:33    Voted 9.00 on 09/27/09
I might have figured out a solution to the crash on saved loads. Unfortunately, it requires you to start over if you're running into this problem mid-mod.

I opened the module in the toolset and recompiled it. I'm now playing the recompiled version. So far, I've tried 4 saves - two normal and two quick. Only one quicksave failed to load, so far. I'm optimistic. :D

Posted by Darpaek at 2009-09-27 06:03:09    Voted 9.00 on 09/27/09
Has anyone figured out what causes NWN to crash when loading saved games? Im early enough in the module where starting over isn't too big of a deal, but I don't like using the respawn option.

I played through Exile yesterday without any issues. I can't recall any other mod that gives me these sort of problems.

I'm using the final patch with the most recent versions of the mods and haks on Vista.
