Hythum is a world comprised of islands and small to moderate sized land masses that float in the sky with no land below. Heat grows more intense towards the relative core of Hythum and cooler as one ascends. Kingdoms, free cities, and tribes comprised of every race and alignment imaginable populate the countless islands of Hythum.
I would recommend playing the original Hythum first, and using the character from that module in Hythum II. The original Hythum can be found on NWVault. The URL is http://nwvault.ign.com/Files/modules/data/1104331367000.shtml
Gameplay Length
7-15 hours estimated.
Number Players
3-5 recommened, but solo play is possible.
Language
English
Level Range
Players should start at 9th or 10th level, which is where they would leave off after playing the original Hythum. If you havent reached that level or if you are using a new character you will be given enough experience to advance to level 9 at the begin
Hythum II opens one year after the events in the original Hythum. The War of the Great Portal is over. You have spent the past year in Port Leaton with Eyvinder the Sage, advising the young King Sean. The outward appearance of the city has largely returned to normal. Buildings have been patched, and repaired, but the people of Leaton still bear the scars of the war.
You are resting in your chambers in palace when Eyvinder calls to you from the throne room, Come quickly! I have an urgent errand for you.
Hythum II is not an epic adventure like the first Hythum but is essentially a very large dungeon crawl. I wanted to design something that would be easier for a DM to run and this module partly grew out of that desire. The module is fully scripted and does not require a DM, but my previous modules were structure in a way that made it difficult for DMs to use them easily.
Consult the readme file for changes in each release.

Hey Steve,
Sorry about the long delay in the reply. In case you are still playing, you need to head back up through the dungeon to the King, who's trapped in the forge. Approach him with the lich's staff and the final few bits of action will move forward. I am thrilled you are enjoying yourself.

I loved Hythum 1, and this sequel is also good but is quite different -- more of a conventional dungeon crawl than the epic adventure Hythum 1 was. Still very fun though!

Hey There,
Thank you kindly for the vote. Greatly appreciated. I am thrilled you had a positive multiplayer experience. D&D is first and formost an multiplayer game, at least in my mind.

Thanks ENoa4 for a really great MP mod. I played this through with 2 friends one Sunday afternoon/evening. We started around 2 pm and finished around 11 pm with a break for dinner (fortunately). The party was L8 Sorcerer, Paladin & Bard (I turned off the auto-level up) and we took no henchmen. Combat was the highlight and was well balanced throughout. We also really liked the use of the beautiful Dwarven Halls tileset and the CEP traps
For MP this mod struck just the right balance between plot, dialogue and action (heavier on the last). For an SP experience I tend to look for more dialogue and plot but for MP Ive found it works best with a simple goal, some interesting set pieces and a lot of combat. Hythum II did this really well. Area design was just about perfect, with good access back to town. As for the town, it was good but we found we ended up with a lot of GPs and nothing good to spend it on (which is the opposite problem to what we normally have).
Combat was really good. I liked the *big* encounters and the latter encounters with creatures using Dispel Magic and similar were great. The final encounter was also lots of fun although I kind of cheated with Summon Creature IX.
*SPOILERS*
We had trouble hitting the archbaddie ourselves, I see there was a rod of Spell Breach which might have helped, but I couldnt ID it ;(
*END SPOILERS*
A few minor niggles about typos etc but for the most part the dialogue was strong.
Anyway, probably our groups favourite MP module so far!

Hi,
Someone else noted this. I haven't done work on these since the previous version of the CEP, and that does appear to be the source of the problem. I think if you install 1.5 then upgrade it seems to work ok.
I am certainly not suggesting nor asking you to do so, and have not confirmed this works, but it's what I've heard.
Hey! I've got a bit of a problem. When I start up the mod it tells my I'm missing the required .tlk file. I assume this is because I'm using CEP 2.0 and not CEP 1.5x. Is there any way I can work around this? _________________________ City of Arabel

Thanks for the very kind rating and comments. I'm glad you liked it. I think this is the favorite of the mods I've written. It's got a few warts here and there, but it's the kid of adventure I like to play.

Just finished playing the Hythum series. If the first module was entertaining, this one is brilliant.
Having played all your modules, I'd say that nobody does a dungeon crawl better than Ernie Noa. (and I count Eye of the Serpent as a dungeon crawl in this regard, though set for a large part in the wilderness it has the exact same feel to it.) They all have just the right mix of action, puzzles, traps and mystery. There's always something to be discovered, you always know something new and interesting will be just beyond the next corner, drawing you further and further onwards.
For the rest, the module's story is fairly simple. I didn't check out the henchmen, as they didn't appeal to me. It looks marvellous, though. The dwarven halls are awe inspiring, and there are some incredible sights down here. The forest outside is also one of if not the best looking nature areas I've seen in NWN.
The bottom line for this module would be that it offers some of the best traditional D&D style gameplay, and is fun from start to finish. Highly recommended for anyone who appreciates a dungeon crawl that isn't just hack and slash.

Hey Steve,
I'm not working on anything at the moment. I'm waiting on NWN 2, and I'm not sure what I'll write at that point.
The king thrax undead axe doesn't work at all on the army of undead dwarves - the bonuses don't seem to take effect.
The eye necklace that is meant to give you damage reduction also doesn't seem to function.
I wonder whether those undead dwarves are worthy of more xp, since their armour class is about 30, and they have fighter stats of about level 10... _________________________ Tsepesh

Hi Elhanan,
I've been playing rather than writing recently. I have some story ideas bouncing around my head, and I'm thinking about Hythum III or something else. I may wait for NWN2, hopefully my computer will run it.
Thanks for the encouragement, it's greatly appreciated.

Howdy! Wanted to see how plans were going for continued story. Pls do not let the lack of votes dissuade your vision. RE: It is quality; not quantity! :)

Hi Scrotok,
Thanks for the post. I am very curious to see who wins. I checked before turning in last night and it's 6am PST now, so I thought I'd peak at there site and see if they've listed the winner. I know it was announced last night, but who knows when it will be posted.

I have a few ideas for Hythum III, but I really haven't done any work on it. I did put out a quick PnP conversion, UK5 Eye of the Serpent. I may take a break and stick with bug fixes until NWN2 is out. Then again, maybe the module writing bug will strike again. :-)
