In Auvers Cathedral, South France, a monk called Jacob was responsible for a massacre. The victims were all fellow monks, knifed with their guts spilled out onto the floor. Moreover it is also reported that from a while back then there was news of people going missing from villages in the surrounding area. ...Massacre and missing persons... You, a member of the Knights Hospitaller, head to the cathedral to investigate the relationship between these two cases but ...

^ I've just had that rumour confirmed. V1.01 will be uploaded any moment - minor changes including the he/she bit, the cut scene that didn't do much has been removed and it is no longer possible to attack the monks at the start of the game (Not that you could hurt them before).

Regarding exporting characters from Chapter 1. I'm just passing on rumours but I hear that Chapter 2 will have a different character, probably a Rogue.

>> lebowski > also one them do not work as intended > (when you reach the door toward the blue > torch you just get a close up of a wall). As far as I can tell this is unchanged from the original. There is a quick close up (you should also be able to see the door down) and a sound effect only. >> Michi > There's one point where Brother Gregory > refers to the PC as "he". Ick, I'll have to fix that. Japanese doesn't use "he/she" nearly as much so I probably didn't come across any sex specific text in the original conversation. To be honest I don't know what tag to use for that but I'm sure I can look it up somewhere.

> Also, the most annoying thing is > absolutely to correct as soon as possible: > The character do not gets exported at the > end of the game, you have to export it > after talking to the book if you want to > save your level. Fix it. Good point. I shall look into that and see if I can persuade Loveichi it is a good idea.

>> lebowski > Things that can be improved are: > Dialogue (some spelling error, but that' > very minor to me) However minor I do want to fix spelling errors, so if you remember any let me know. >, in the sense that talking about some of > your finding with Jacob and the other > monk could be expanded > Cutscenes they are nice but overdone, As this is a translation I am limited in what I can do myself to change things that are working as the author intended. I suspect he is not very likely to alter matters in response to feed back but if you want I can pass your message on. > also one them do not work as intended > (when you reach the door toward the blue > torch you just get a close up of a wall). I'll look into that right away. In theory there shouldn't have been any changes to the cutscenes from the original but as I had to edit scripts to replace text it is possible some problem slipped in and was missed by me at some point. > Also the text is more slow than needed > and there's quite a bit of text so... I kind of agree with both those points and it does come /just/ within the 'translation' heading (IMO). There may be some technical problems with altering it, particularly as I do not want to 'break' Japanese support. > It would be also nice to have an area > outside the cathedral, at this point the > investigation is too linear and forced. Again, out of my remit but I can pass on a message if you want. However I'm not sure that an area outside of the cathedral is that important as it is a quite short module. > Well but what about the other battle, > aren't you, in this way, suggesting that > respawning is kanda alwyas wrong while at > least in one place of course ti isn't? Not exactly. Note that it is possible to win that battle _without_ respawning or cheating (particularly if you don't consider multiple re-loading 'cheating'). However you may well consider it 'better' to respawn.

Short but very good. I hope that chapter 2 will be longer.

Great atmosphere, very creepy as some others have noted. My only note is that it wsa a bit short, but since it's part of a series that's not really a complaint. This reminded me a little of the movie "The Name of the Rose". Something about heresy, murdered monks and inquisitions that automatically gives it a horrifying aspect. I still felt a little confused at the end as to what I had done. Maybe a little more exposition as to some of your character's feelings about what has transpired would help carry the plot into the next part of the story. Thanks for the great mod!

Even though I thought the module was a bit lame overall, I do have to give you props for having the only module I have ever played to instill the least bit of tension or creepiness that I could feel. No other module, official, freeware, or usermade has ever had such a wonderfully spooky atmosphere and that is what saves this from being generic crap. _________________________ "You're a dreamer, a schemer, a schemer who's schemes don't work. Michi is right, the events regarding the monks should happen only when everything in the basement has already happened. And of course the dagger can't be taken before that too. _________________________ The hottest new modules you can't miss - player suggested Contributor to Overlooked Module Reports An interview with me about NWN mods
