This is one of the quests from the upcoming Dark Waters campaign. The player has traveled to a small island in search of a key, knowing little beyond the name of the man who once held it.
Let me clarify. i dlded it, copied it, got hakpak and mod in right folders, then message popped up : could not open mod because it uses a newer version of toolset or game resources. How do i get around that ? Is it because i had hotu (1.59, yes it's a 5) cd in, not the OC ?
And i still need to know how to delete my profile... Sorry...
I tried getting it. But it says the toolset version I have is out of date... I have both expansions, 1.59...
But I use a Linux to dld mod, then transfer it onto windows.
Also, how do i delete profile? I've searched and searched, but it's a nightmare. Can't find it (i'm bad with computers).

Yeah, this deserved to win the Writing Contest. No surprise really, since Adam Miller did it.

Great story, but some flaws. The alignment shifts should be higher.

Why the character is not exported at the end ?
Mod would be perfect so...

I did like it, but I felt that somehow some depth was missing. I really liked the monkey island reference, though. ^_~ Well scripted. Good environment also. The use of the gong was good, I liked how that worked. Storywise the plot was excellent, good beginning and ending, but I felt the way it was brought across was somewhat lacking. In a way, this module is better scripted than written. From the high ratings I had expected a slightly more immensing module.

This really is an excellent module. Adam Miller has made the most of what can possibly be done within the confines of the very restrictive writing competition. The narration and dialogue are succinct, immersive and clear -- all at the same time. Numerous questions that excite and immerse are brought to the forefront in the unfolding of what I truly deem an amazingly well-crafted plot. The themes explored are delightfully disturbing, and the feeling of satisfaction that I was left with is very much a testament both to the viability of the medium and the ingenuity of the designer.

Congrats on Winning, Adam. Well done.

This story made me feel invinseable. Like I was King Author or some mithical hero. I liked this story very much but I wondering what it was with the female that was being there in the mod to be burned. Was I supposed to be stopping her burning? How do I stop her burning? Please give me clue @[email protected]

Very good how you managed to create such an entertaining module even within the contests limitations.
As go for all your modules in one word, excellent.

Nice, but I don't know what the fuss was about. Maybe if I played your other modules I would see something they have. But as someone who has never played your stuff, this was pretty much the run of the mill story. Well written, but nothing new.

This was one of the very, very few modules that I actually enjoyed playing the whole way through because of the gameplay! Very nice job in creating an interesting scenario with lots of things for the player to do. Quite well-written overall!
For sheer participation and quality.. Thanks for the hard work..

Much like a certain plan featured in it, this module would be hilarious, if the topic wasn't so horrible. It invokes a remarkable range of emotions in so little time.
Great writing, lots of ways to go about the situation, I like it very much. If nothing else, a great teaser for Dark Waters.

Given the rules imposed, this is a great little module.
Only Miller and few other can give a module the feeling of being real, thanks to the painstaking attention to details that can be very easily overlooked but now and then you stumble upon.

As usual, excellent writing through dialogue, journals, and descriptions. The author's scripting ability is obviously a strong point to develop several endings in an original presentation. _________________________ Please don't forget to vote and leave feedback!

I somehow reasonably talked myself into imprisonment and never had opportunity to get to the heart of the modIm guessing at least. Was never allowed to really speak with any other NPC. Dont know if it was possible. Would have liked to see another way out of my situation. Story was relatively original and only character I could speak to seemed defined. Writing was above average, not great. After more than six breakouts, dialogue options repeated themselves, thus I was stuck and frustrated I could not save the girl or speak to one more rational. (7.5)

After actually playing Firestarter, I found out that the 10 I gave you was worthwhile, based not only on your previous work, but also on this. I am confident you will easily get first placed. Among things I like in your writing is your sense of humour, and that you are not afraid of using taboo concepts. I would love if you write entire chapters of the NWN2 campaign yourself!
This happens to be the best mod I've played yet. There were four very different endings, and I did have fun overall. My only complaint (though a minor one) is that the character dialogues (with the exception of the girl) felt rather limited, though it's understandable given the limitations of the contest. Good mod overall.

Just as I did with Kevin Chan, I'm giving you a straight 10 to support you without even trying this module yet. Your Dreamcatcher is a masterpiece, and I think that you two are the best developers after Stefan Gagne (who didn't join the contest). You should get a chance with Bioware to use your talents.

Seeing Mr Miller's name I was expecting a good module and overall it was. However, I had to play it a couple of times before I figured out to use the shovel in the ruined tower. The clues were there but I must have had a senior moment because I did not get it until the second go through. On the first try that meant that I ended up getting thrown in the tower a lot and that got frustrating.
After playing the module I say a posting that listed all the possible endings, and I was surprised to see how many there were. Maybe I played through the module too quickly but it was not obvious to me that there were that many possible options.

Very very nice. An idea that is not too original, that could have been dealt with in the usual way, but wasn't. Humor, a satisfyingly immersive experience, very interesting.

writing and story ideas had good humor. lots of nice touches beyond the writing.

Spoilers:
Based on the writing alone this one is worthy. The writing was good, correct, simple and acceptable. Good idea. Score for writing alone: 9.25. Journals, dialogue and other descriptions were good.
Personally as a player I take issue with this one: Here is why.
There was No description for the so-called witch.
Being sent to a holding cell repeated was not fun at all, especially if doing so is part of the main plot in the first place and or the investigation to figure out what is going on.
I felt the execution of the suggested plot needed a lot of improvement.
I did not feel at all in control, and I played it with a paladin, surely a judge of the people who stands far above amongst a group of hostile villagers waiting to destroy the last member of some family.
I found only two player choices at the start, each a solid answer but each with the same outcome.
I reloaded this one three times to make sure.
The use of items is needed to progress the plot.
I did not find an ending and the paths were not clear enough for me, making it difficult for the player to figure out what to do.
Honestly Id like to know what happens so Im just going to open up the toolset and find out. Score for execution and plot progression: 6.25.
Good work but in my opinion this one does need some improvement. Over all: 8.25
Sincerely,
NB

Great module, certainly demonstrates more familiarity with the toolset than other modules entered in the contest, but the writing and plotting is exceptional as well.

I really liked the way this module played out. I've played a few, but this is the first one I voted for. Mainly I found the method of playing the game very interesting and fun. In terms of sheer writing, there was a lot of dialogue options and quite a bit of humour, but I didn't think the -writing itself- was exceptional. But when combined with the method of telling the story, the "game play" itself, I thought this module was quite good.

I think this module's got its rank covered... Now people get out there and start voting on those modules that still haven't got 10 votes yet! :p
