Description
This is The Light Reborn: Legends - part 5 of the Light Reborn Series (TLR). It can be played without having played the rest of the series.
A shadow has fallen across the world of Harthe. The arrival of a man, named Samuel, claiming to be a Veranite -- the lost race of kings blessed by the Creator of Harthe with divine power -- causes a stir in the country of Anvid. Could he really be a Veranite? Does he serve the Light, as he says, or is he a deceiver? Samuel gathers heroes across the land to do the will of the Virtues -- the spirits of good that he claims to talk to. You are one such hero. But the power of the Dark does not stand still. Who can resist it?
You're on your way to Anvid city to hunt down a Servant of Solanor named Tarnn. War between Anvid and Seradez has broken out and Tarnn may be at the center of it.
This mod contains a chest with "tokens" from past episodes. Pick the ones that you want to have appy to your character. Then enter the actual game mod and it will act like you have a character from past adventures.

Brilliant!
I can only remember such a strong ending in Fantus' "Lords of Darkness" serie even if here my knight is just a sidekick. Paladin/cleric highly recommended.
I got stuck once and checked the forum to see how to advance the plot (something related to the rod) other than that everything went smoothly.
The module does not export your character so one should do that after the last fight.
10: A truly superb, well polished module. Stop what you're doing and download this module right now.
"Incidentally, is there some way to defeat the mercenaries who are hitting on SharLet without resorting to god mode? My 4/5 Fighter/Paladin gets shredded in about 30 seconds, outnumbered 5-to-1 as he is."
My 9th level fighter slaughtered them. He didn't even need a single healing potion... He had:
ring of protection +1
full plate +1
Greatsword +2
20 strength thanks to a +2 strength gloves.
Weapon focus greatsword (+1 to hit)
weapon specialization greatsword (+2 demage)
improved criticals greatsword (17-20 is crit instead of 19-20).
Not very high AC (21), but the greatsword has 2d6 damage + 1.5x your strength bonus (two handed weapons get extra damage)... so overall we are talking almost 25 damage per average hit, double that on crit. _________________________ I do not have a superman complex; for I am God, not Superman!

I don't remember why I skipped this last chapter but I came back to finish the series since NWN2 releases have been so slow. The module is solid in its story telling and wraps up the previous chapters fairly well. Although solid it is not spectacular as I found "The Children" was. The story is, as mentioned above very good, but the final chapter game play is slow and methodical. I found the areas much too large with nothing really to do. There was just no reason for these huge empty areas that take so long to walk around in. There was good background to the series in the book, but the present day problems lacked a sense of urgency for the player. The war that was talked about had no interaction for the player so was a non issue. NPC interaction was limited to a few phrases with no depth involved. I had tokens from previous chapters that I thought would take the NPC conversations somewhere, was there a purpose? Oh well, still a fun couple of hours, even though it left me wanting a bit more. Hopefully Bruce comes to NWN2 as the storytelling is very good. Best wishes.

I had the privilege of DMing an earlier version of this mod for a "Light Reborn" campaign on Neverwinter Connections and thoroughly enjoyed it. Unfortunately, there's no DM guide with this - hopefully Bruce will provide one so that a DM can run the whole series.
As a single-player experience, it satisfyingly wraps up the TLR series, although it leaves the storyline open for future mods as well. There are some aspects that feel incomplete and a couple minor issues, but it should be a good adventure nonetheless, and well worth it for those who have played through the rest of the series.
Thanks for the comment, Robert. I'm glad I managed to suprise you. That was my goal. :)

Great! Short, but sweet. I'd forgotten this series until I stumbled across it again a few days ago, and it was a delight to be able to finally finish the story. I'm exceedingly pleased that the ending managed to surprise me; I'd convinced myself that there were only two possible endings, but the author found another.
Sit yourself right next to the back right side of the Tarlinium Seat. If you have a poor search or spot skill (I forget which one) then bring an NPC with you. They automatically help search.
I tested out the battle in the Tavern and didn't think it was as hard as you're suggesting. But I probably had an NPC with me to help fight. And of course you have to take down the big dog as fast as possible. Perhaps I'll have to go back and tone it down a bit.
And apparently I've lost the ability to spell properly. Clearly Kaeri would be unable to set up a "metting" with the King, because "metting" isn't a word. At least not one that I'm aware of.
Well, I'm officially stumped. I've talked to the Order of Soladon guy (I'm drawing a blank on his name at the moment), visited the Tarlinium Seat, rescued SharLet, and "helped" Amlyn (I think that's her name) with her prospective husband, but Kaeri doesn't want to set up a metting with the King and Shane keeps telling me to come back in an hour, no matter how long I wait.
I'm stumped, what am I missing?
Incidentally, is there some way to defeat the mercenaries who are hitting on SharLet without resorting to god mode? My 4/5 Fighter/Paladin gets shredded in about 30 seconds, outnumbered 5-to-1 as he is.

A excelent module. It has good plot and interesting characters. I like also very much the finale. I didn't find any bug only some grammatical errors (i have played with the same character from the previous). Good work and wishes for good life with your family
Holy cow! People discovered my mod while I was on vacation!!!
@Libita - I don't think anyone so far has tried giving the rod to Arduin. My online games never have either. To be honest, I think that's the better ending. ;)
@Kenrae - Thanks for the feedback. I had grander plans when I started this mod but just couldn't keep it up. That's why some of the areas are too large. There was more content planned. I did a last minute "removal" of areas and shrinking things down, but I could only take it so far. I would love to go back and finish this mod the way I originally envisioned it, with more side quests and improved emotional content. But alas, it took too much time from a schedule that couldn't afford it any more and there was so little interest in the mod from the dwindling community that I just couldn't justify the additional time.
Is it the end of the series? I'm not sure. It's certainly the end to the "Tarnn" story. But Kalyl hasn't been dealt with and there is so much more story to tell. But with limited time, I'm just not sure if I'm going to get to it or not.
On the other hand, I've already started a new mod for NWN 2. The Light Reborn: Darklands. So we'll see if I get far enough to justify ever releasing it.
@SpecialK - Thanks for the comments and the votes. It is my greatest hope that the content of the game is emotionally evocative enough that it actually causes some reflection. Truly that would make me happy to have my mods actually be *gasp* art! I wish I had had time to add some of the additional sequences that would have added to that. But I'm pleased with what I managed to get in.
@Jamro - Thanks for the comments. I do like this mod the best, even more so then The Children. Writing the dialog for the NPC was the hardest but most enjoyable part of this mod. I simply loved writing for Shane. He writes himself. I plan to make all my mods playable in single player even if they are primarily multiplayer mods. (A lesson I learned from mod "Rescue" mod.)

Great! Easily the best part of the series!
And I even got me a decent sword this time! :)
A very, very good ending to an entertaining series.
If not for the bumpy beginnings, the series would rank
amongst my favourites. But even as it is, I can easily
recommend it. Gets better and better all the time,
offers variety and doesnt take ages to complete.
Thanks for the thoroughly entertaining evenings I've
spent in Harthe. I'll be sure to check up anything
else you come up with.
(as long as it's single player compliant, I'm somehow
not into multiplayer stuff)

At last, after some years, I see the end of these series (it is the end, isn't it?). I've loved it from the start to the end.
It's refreshing to not be the main hero for a change, and you have done it properly, maintaining a sense of "importance" at the same time. Well done!
This particular mod could use some polishing though. Some more NPCs placed in some areas like the Inn would be a good idea. And them reacting to the fight there too, they don't even have a line of dialogue.
I've loved the twists of the series. The henchmen are well fleshed out, but they could make use of some more dialogue.
In the end, I've enjoyed these series a lot :)

I was a little vague, I'll try to be a bit more constructive:
Well done: background, henchmen, NPCs
Could use polishing: areas are somewhat empty, fleshing out some areas with placeables would've really helped the immmersion I think.

Overall a good series. I liked the story twists, especially the ending, very original and could even lead to some reflexion (mindless grinders beware :) ). The writing was good and the technical stuff, while not groundbreaking, is solid.
/spoiler
I had some troubles but I was a Enchanment/Illusion Sorcerer so I'll chalk it up to that.
In a number of fights, the only way to effective I had was to turn invisible and heal my henchman.

I wouldn't call it "_the_ best module", but it certainly managed to draw me in. It was quite enjoyable _not_ to be the fabled hero myself. And I was simply marveling about the options I was sometimes presented during dialogue.
Still wondering what would have happened if I hadn't given the rod to Samuel.
_________________________ One feels inclined to say that the idea that man should be "happy" is not included in the plan of "creation". - Sigmund Freud
Once a mod is placed in the Hall of Fame it no longer shows up on the new module list. So they don't put it into the Hall of Fame (when part of a series) until it's been out for a while.
Thanks for the feedback. I hope I get a chance to. I admit I'm curious about what you think my view of religion is after this mod. :)

First, thanks very much for such a great series. Memorable characters, great plot and, even though I don't share the author's views on religion and all, I just loved the story, I really did. (Spelling mistakes were annoying, though. I'm french canadian but I noticed. "Sight" is not spelled "site")
But.. there's always a but. I must admit I liked part III better. More action... and the investigation was so fun! This last part was wordy, aye, but it was also a bit short, and waaayy to short on action. And some dialogues were lengthy for nothing, in my opinion. BUT when it started rockin', wow... it sure was challenging.
Again, thank you Bruce. If you manage to get some free time, please make more of those great quality modules... in NWN2!

Haven't tried it again yet, though I did download the update.
See my e-mail. _________________________ Steve's Characters - please don't forget to vote on them if you play them.
Steve, were you able to repeat this problem? If not, it should just be an intermitent bug. I put a fix in 1.5 so that a failsafe will fire if you're stuck in movie mode and take you out of it after a little while. This should avoid the occaisional problem.
Even if you can repeat the problem, and it's machine specific, I hope the failsafe will still work correctly on it and so I've probably already fixed it in 1.5.

Bruce,
One bug I forgot to mention.
If you go back to the main opponent who attacks Samuel and his uncle, BEFORE destroying the tree, you're stuck in movie mode. _________________________ Steve's Characters - please don't forget to vote on them if you play them.

I played the first 3 mods as a single player and was fortunate enough to play the The Light Reborn: Legends in a multiplayer beta test. It is an incredibly rich and complex world and plot. There are NPCs so dastardly you want to hate them and some so good you could just kiss them! Bruce has defined a world that requires thought and conscience but nothing is ever shoved down your throat. The opportunity is there for many options. The cut scenes are grand and informative! I wholeheartedly recommend this mod to anyone and urge you to play the whole series as a great adeventure with a heart. _________________________ Real men wear kilts
