Description
Hall of Fame Guild Prelude module
Sucked into a world you know nothing about, you soon find the same phenomenon that brought you here heralds a dark future for both this world and your own. Armed with nothing but your wits, will you be able to avert that doom?
Valeron is a land like any other land. It has seen great strife, many wars, and many kingdoms. It has seen many births, and many deaths. It is home to many, who have loved, hated, or been indifferent to the changes across the ages.
Valeron is different in only one way, from the many other worlds in our universe. The universe is like a tree, and Valeron is at its base (or root). This does not make Valeron special, or better, or much different at all, from the other parallel worlds on the tree of life. Rather, it is a position that does not mean much at all, save for when the tree is shaken. For when the tree is shaken, a leaf is torn, or a branch is clipped, the falling fruits and nuts sometimes descend near the base. Only at such a time might one notice the difference between Valeron and other worlds. This is such a time.
Note: Tales of the Sundering, except for the Prelude, follows a hub and spoke system, where each module is reached from the hub. You need to have downloaded the following module before you can travel out of the hub. The Prelude allows you to get started without any concerns about what follows.
The Tales of the Sundering concept comes to you from:
Baldecaran
John 'Gestalt' Bye
Codepoetz
B G P Hughes
Dave Mason
G.R. 'LeBlaque' Mathews
Mark Price

Uh, my bad, I've missed the file while copying archive's contents. Found it now, everything is working just fine.
Sorry to bother. _________________________ Felines and magic are all that's best in the Multiverse. Really.
Sorry, I have a problem: when I'm trying to load any module of the series except for the Prelude, the game says that it is "missing the custom talk table".
Could anyone help?.. _________________________ Felines and magic are all that's best in the Multiverse. Really.

Very nice module
- cow quest bug: first time I crossed trigger nothing happened(cow probably had not crossed it)
- no bags of holding _________________________ Thanks Rolo:)
PS. What I would really like to see is the ability to grill him about exactly what his relationship with the wreckers are, maybe they pay him well, maybe he has been a wrecker since youth, maybe they threaten him... who knows. But he is awfully cavalier about it and is a wrecker himself, so I am inclined to just cave in his skull. (Would be nice to have a dialog option, such as "I vow to put a stop to your evil, you shall die now, and then I will hunt down and slay your other wrecker friends". Make a whole quest out of the bloody thing. _________________________ I do not have a superman complex; for I am God, not Superman!
ok, so I started playing.. got ship wrecked, find a bunch of useless junk meant for crafting with no instructions on how to actually use it (the built in instructions are bloody useless).
Anyways, I found a kindly old man, who was persuaded to give me the shirt off of his back, some nice herbs, and then to tell me that he works with wreckers, people who trick ships into wrecking on the rocks, kill the crew, and loot the cargo.
Wow, ok... Since I am not stupid I decide to pump him for information, when I get everything I need to know I try to bring his association with the wreckers again, but I find that I can not do so... So I kill the sorry SOB (with the explicit intent to loot the place, find the wreckers, and put an end to their evil)... and I get 5 evil points for my good deed. WTF? _________________________ I do not have a superman complex; for I am God, not Superman!
btw, using 7z ultra compression I recompressed it from just over 1MB to 396KB 7z file. or 900KB zip file also under ultra compression. When compressing a file you shouldn't just use the default settings, but choose maximum compression in whatever program you are using. _________________________ I do not have a superman complex; for I am God, not Superman!
it would be really awesome if the current 7 modules (hub and prelude are both modules) were packaged together (Along with all needed resources) into one single downloadable file.
Anyways, I am going to download and install it now. _________________________ I do not have a superman complex; for I am God, not Superman!

Played this about a week or two ago and only just now commenting. That's because the module didn't have much of an impact on me. It was a decent module, but I never got drawn into the story or the world. I think that's because, in part, it isn't visually very interesting. Whatever the case, I'll probably play another module in the series eventually, but it didn't leave me hungering for more.

A very good prelude! Very good atmosphere and good writing. Though it is a low level adventure, it is very good at holding the player's attention and there is no boring moment to me.

I REALLY like it! Fighting was fair and balanced. Scripting and cut scenes were professionally done. The storyline was certainly interesting enough to keep me focused. Great job guys! I'll have to try out the others now. _________________________ Defeat the Black Knights! Play Phantasie

This is a wonderful game. It's plot and crafting system were both exellent.

An interesting prelude that made me want to play the rest and a good module in its own right. I mst have missed something as I only managed level 2, but an easy fight in the next should pop level 3.

Great introduction to the Sundering. Feels slow and confusing at times, but by the end you see how it all fits.

An exemplary beginning. I love these scraping off stuff to survive beginnings.
The rift creatures were great! Not a boring moment there, constantly being barraged by new information and stuff. Now off to fire up the Hub!
you'll have to die in this encounter to end the mod. After you've been killed, then you should be raised in another place, provided you had an Heaven's Tear in your inventory at the time of your death

I can tell I am going to love all of the mods in this series, but first I have to get to them.
****SLIGHT SPOILER:****
When I get to the "March on the Wreckers" everyone gets killed and the "Huge Beasts" get to "near death" but are un-killable. I can find no transition to escape or to move out of the area.
Any Suggestions as to what I need to do to move on?
TIA for any help.
If you don't want to post a possible spoiler you may email me at [email protected]
Glad you enjoyed it. Sorry I missed your question (was away) - but as you have probably realised by now, that choice is yours. _________________________ Works of B G P Hughes: Link

A lot of interaction with your comrade. Though it started out a bit cliché (Varn was often offering sme definite waypoint on which he would trust me), I grew rather fond of him despite this being a Prelude, and as such, rather short. Interesting setup/atmosphere/conversation/use of skills... _________________________ One feels inclined to say that the idea that man should be "happy" is not included in the plan of "creation". - Sigmund Freud

Which world is the main character supposed to come from? I'd like to know this up front in order to decide which kind of character to play. If coming from, for example, our own world, I'd try to model myself. -_- _________________________ One feels inclined to say that the idea that man should be "happy" is not included in the plan of "creation". - Sigmund Freud

Good introduction to what will I hope be a good series. Plus marks for XP awards for non-combat, good balance, skill checks, different enemies, avoiding usual L1 banal XP quests. _________________________ Take me out to the black, tell them I ain't coming back;

Replaying this mod to get to the rest of the series, and remembering how much fun it is!

Just as a clarification for those wondering, the series is eligible for the MotY competition, but excluding this mod as it was issued in the previous year.
Bit of a weird situation to be in for me, to be honest, since I get no credit as a co-writer of the series, but I guess it really doesn't matter particularly (especially as it looks likely the series will place 5th anyway). I certainly wish Marc and codepoetz the best of luck though. _________________________ Works of B G P Hughes: Link

Just to be sure: you've seen that this module is eligible for Module of the Year? Contest is going on until April 5th. You might want to place your vote - on this or on any of the other modules, if you haven't done so already. _________________________ One feels inclined to say that the idea that man should be "happy" is not included in the plan of "creation". - Sigmund Freud

Personally, I'm completely done with NWN (except AME), but I can't swear that codepoetz won't finish the series off. I'm glad you enjoyed it so much. Makes resurrecting it from the Premium Module discard pile worth the effort. _________________________ Works of B G P Hughes: Link

This was such a completely original and polished module that I can't give you any less than a 10.00. I actually enjoyed every bit of it (that's something I don't do with all modules) . I loved the setting, the characters, the plot, dialog, atmoshpere (simply great!) & game-play. I love scenarios where you are "ship-wrecked" and have to survive by finding new equipment, piece by piece. Spectacular!
One thing that is even better is knowing that I have 7 additional modules to play in this series! :D Are you planning to release any more episodes or have you finished this project completely?

I'm voting a 10 here for the entire " Tales of the Sundering " story, not only the Prelude part of it.
One of the most interesting module in my opinion regarding... puzzles, but not only. I'm probably the one who hates NWN puzzles the most around. Normally, just to see a puzzle coming up in some game would be enough to make me throw my comp out of the nearest window. But not here. The first and main reason is they are... human. 'meaning doable. Fun also. And real smart, most of the time. Since I was able to figure out all of them?, I think, almost anyway, without any other help but my brain's. So believe me, if you knew my brain as much I do, you really shouldn't have any problem yourself with yours in here. Some combats, but you're fast overpowered. It's not the point here anyway. But puzzles, this interesting Hub architecture, loads of really bright ideas and inventions. What else? Give it a try. This serial should be more known around. _________________________ @ + jml, level 52
