Description
This adventure is one of a series of modules that have been designed with a concept that is different than the standard modules for Neverwinter Nights. The Tales of the Sundering are an anthology of modules, written by different Hall of Fame authors. Each module or "Tale" can be thought of as a "short story" that satisfies as a stand-alone adventure but features a mysterious campaign setting developed and shared amongst the various authors involved in the project.
This module works with a "hub and spoke" system, and should only be played when loaded from the "hub".
Prerequisites for this module are:
Tales of the Sundering Prelude:
http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=Modules.Detail&id=5225
Tales of the Sundering (Hub):
http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=Modules.Detail&id=5327
Valeron is a land like any other land. It has seen great strife, many wars, and many kingdoms. It has seen many births, and many deaths. It is home to many, who have loved, hated, or been indifferent to the changes across the ages.
Valeron is different in only one way, from the many other worlds in our universe. The universe is like a tree, and Valeron is at its base (or root). This does not make Valeron special, or better, or much different at all, from the other parallel worlds on the tree of life. Rather, it is a position that does not mean much at all, save for when the tree is shaken. For when the tree is shaken, a leaf is torn, or a branch is clipped, the falling fruits and nuts sometimes descend near the base. Only at such a time might one notice the difference between Valeron and other worlds. This is such a time.
This module works differently than most NWN modules. The module works with a "hub and spoke" system, and should only be played when loaded from the "hub". If you played it through without starting from the hub first, you will have difficulty advancing through to the other modules in the series. If you'd like to play the series, I'd advise you to first try the prelude, which does not require the hub module. Then if you wish to play the other adventures (including this one), you must start in the hub. This module will automatically load at the proper time, and although you return to the hub after each adventure, the remaining modules work similarly, with each being loaded upon triggers based on your characters actions in the hub. I hope this helps. These modules aren't actively maintained due to their age. If you have a chance to play, I do hope you enjoy them though.
ok, i'm stuck. the module was started by me leaving the docks from the hub, first thing that happened was i was told there was an error and that i should start from the hub. also no henchmen were w/me.
i played through the mod anyway, and at the end i was sent back to the hub. when i arrived there, the whole module started over again.
i poked around in the code a bit, and it looks like the database isn't being initialized someplace along the way. it appears you're using an item skin as the database object?? i checked my character's equipped items using leto and there is definitely a skin equipped. [any way to find out what's on it?]
don't really want to play through the whole hub again, esp if this is going to keep happening. any ideas?

Short but very intriguing.

A good module that carries the series forward. A little short, but that's the general idea of the series, so no real complaints about that.
On the faction choice, I think you shoild just role play your character, my paladin decided she was more in tune with the ideals of the temple than the wizards and went that way, based on what she 'knew'.

Great way to start the Sundering series. Marc Price is an excellent mod creator.

A very enjoyable module. Brief as hell, but no matter as the story continues elsewhere.
The lighthouse puzzle and the diary were the high points. Not a very happy family saga we're following is it.

Good continuation to the series, short but interesting. Enjoyed the gameplay and there were enough hints to the main puzzle so it wasn't too cryptic. _________________________ Take me out to the black, tell them I ain't coming back;

Short and very sweet. Kept me hooked.

Excellent story line!

Okay, I solved the mirrors puzzle, but I was thinking of some huge light in this whole darkest lighthouse, I don't know why... Well, maybe that's it. :-D _________________________ @ + jml, level 52

As I'm probably the only one who didn't solve the Lighthouse puzzle, 1st floor, with the mirrors and the balance, if one knows the answer, could he mail it to me, to avoid spoiling that thread? [email protected]
Thanks. _________________________ @ + jml, level 52

Great module. Liked the mirror situation in the lighthouse and the way to neutralize them. The story of Davos was intrigueing.

Really a lot of fun!
Flows and loads seamlessly from the Hub and back.
I look forward to the next chapter!

Are you kidding me?!? What a brilliant piece of work! The best couple of hours I've spent playing NWN bar none. Unfortunately, the series peaked with this module. Thanks Marc for making it.

Very very good! Gripping story (but as Mike said, a lot of writing for so little gameplay). Plus there's a fun puzzle (and everyone knows that's rare...) Combat is balanced with the two henchpersons from the hub but
***spoiler***
don't anger the bear !!! Oh the pain.
***big spoiler***
what's a chaotic good character to do ? Give the item to the mages, traders or clerics ? Damn, I would appreciate some clues as to which are the good guys!

An excellent mod in its own right and the continuing series makes it great.
From memory, I think you have not been to the thorn tree above Tornak - that gets you to shaman Ortha. _________________________ Works of B G P Hughes: Link
When I get back to town with the quests solved, Tears and Farseer, etc. I am given a new quest to help me on my trip home. That's to see the shaman Ortha in the mountains. However, I am unable t get out of town. I've talked to everyone I can find with no luck and the boat won't sail. Is this the end of this module?

I really enjoyed playing this spoke and am looking forward to what comes in the future.
The combat was challenging but well balanced (for my lvl 3) and the puzzles interesting and well thought out.
Having difficulty choosing which faction to side with but I guess that is how it should be as my character has no knowledge of the world and its history.
Thanks Marc for this little gem and thanks to the team for all the fun yet to come :) I am looking forward to playing the other spokes and hope there are more to come!

I enjoyed this immensely. The herbal recipes were a very nice touch, as were the incompetent pirates.
The death respawn seems to be quite different than expected from previous mods, though. Instead of being whisked away to the nearest runestone, I'm just brought back right where I am!
I have encounter a game stoping bug:
When i am in the Hub (with the character i had from prelude), i have took both henchs with me. When i move to south rock island, only one henchman is with me (the female mage), no matter who many time i try. So i think that you can only have one hench in this mission and continue on.
However, when i find the Farsee and speak then with the dragonkin mage (i don't give her the farsee), then when i go to speak to captain, and leave the island i encounter this bug:
"Database Henchman Write error please try again"
and i still standing in front of the captain in South rock Island. So i can't continue on.
This bug continue even if i restart my PC and try again. I think that has something to do with the missing Hench.
********** End of Spoiler *********
I don't vote now, i 'll wait to correct this bug and then i vote. But as far as this, i like this mod, even if its sooo small.
Had a look through the other comments, and it doesn't look like anyone else has got stuck! I cannot find my way into the lighthouse, although I have been to the east, west and interior sections and gone through as thoroughly as I can. Can anybody help? Thanks!

I really like this series. Thanks for making a new series for NWN (I don't have NWN2 and I'm not going to buy it.)
Other people have commented that this chapter is short, and it is -- I wish there had been a bit more on the island, too -- but it was interesting and really absorbs the player in the story, so it's effective as a chapter in the overall series.
Hi, Marc, Spymaster et al,
I decided to have a look for codepoetz under his User Profile. No email setup for contacting him, and it looks from the Submissions list as if he is wrapped up in making plug-ins for the NWN2 toolset. I would say the odds are that the series stops here.
Cheers,
Dave Fritz

Definitely enjoyed so far. Just hate to leave a good story barely started. Thanks.
