"What is a man,
With claws on his hand,
SPLAT."
- Van Eisen
Seiji returns to Bast to find that the clawed man has attacked Mt. Sheckim and Azura has fled into the wilds of the Brass Empire. Seiji must find her and escape the clawed man. He must then draw upon all of his allies to unravel the mystery of Azura. But such mysteries are perilous and will bring Seiji to the very steps of a legend.

Disclaimer
Vis et Virtus is not a normal Neverwinter Nights module, nor is it intended to be. It is, by design, a mostly linear adventure with a heavy emphasis on story and character development. It was designed to be a fusion of game genres combining elements from traditional Japanese console RPG games like Final Fantasy, with computer RPGs like NWN, along with devices that are unique to VeV.
If you are looking for a game that uses a non-linear approach with lots of dialogue options through which you can create a character of your choosing, featuring standard NWN systems, I encourage you to look elsewhere. There are plenty of excellent games out there that do an excellent job of this. I would also encourage you to look elsewhere if you don't have the time to allow the story and characters to develop. Like a great novel, the story gets better as it goes, and many questions remain unanswered until later in the series. In the beginning, you will not know the full history of each of the characters nor have a full understanding of their motivations, but over the course of the game these elements will become apparent. Finally, in order to add to the depth of the characters, Vis et Virtus uses pregenerated characters. If you are uninterested in games involving pregenerated characters, please do not waste your time downloading VeV.
If, on the other hand, you are looking for a game with a truly epic story, strategic battles, engaging party members, unique systems and stunning custom content that make you feel like you're playing an entirely different game, you will enjoy Vis et Virtus.
If you are still uncertain as to whether Vis et Virtus is the sort of gaming experience you like, I encourage you to read our reviews. QSW and the Vault Review Team have written excellent, detailed reviews of the last three chapters of VeV which will likely give you a good idea of what to expect. You can find them at Link, Link, and Link.

I released an update to the prologue and chapters 1-6 today. Chapters 7 and 8 will be updated in the coming weeks.
I've dubbed this particular version the "Almost Final Version" because we are honing in on a Final Version. Andrew and I will be doing one last test run this summer and updating accordingly before officially labeling VeV Final.
These final updates are almost exclusively polish, subtle details and bug fixes. The only update I would like to point out is that we have added an On / Off switch to the boss cutscenes we added in version 4. That way, if you prefer not to watch those scenes, you can turn them off via a Macro Command. Further information is included in the in game Journal.
We have also remade our Vis et Virtus Website from scratch and moved it over to wordpress. We are still working on the finishing touches on this as well, but all the important information should be accessible there. You can find it at the link above.
Since the website has had a lot of downtime lately due to the server, I've decided to use a different host. The new Vis et Virtus website can be found at the link above.
Friends, due to being in the process of opening a business and my test player being busy in his final year of college, I'm going to take a different approach with the release than I have in the past with 4.0. I'd like to ask those of you on the vault to please help me find bugs with the new version, so I'm releasing the beta. I have, of course, done a good deal of testing myself, but I'd love to get your input on the new version.
Chapter 6 will be up in the next week or two, but chapters 7 and 8 are quite a bit further off. Fortunately, version 4.0 is 99% backwards compatible with version 3.0, so you should be able to finish playing through even if I haven't finished releasing the later 4.0 chapters.
Feel free to email me directly if you happen to find any bugs. I check my email far more frequently than I do this site. My email address is: [email protected]
Thanks,
Jim

And a really really amateur game with that. Honestly this is disgrace to the goodness that is NWN and the excellent modding community. _________________________ Do dance with the rogues.
I'm out of town at the moment, so I'm not sure how helpful i can be for the next day or two, but off hand, I know scriptwise what happens there is an autosave, so the issue is likely related to that. I'll look closer at it when im at my computer. Sorry for the delay.
I'm having the same issue with the oracle scene as I saw someone else post about. I go into mindscape after the flashbacks, then right after the oracle says she has to clean up this mess it freezes and locks up before nwn crashes. So far I'm about 0/15 on tries to get through that. Using windows 7 set to xp compatability, have a laptop well over game specs, tried multiple graphics settings, still no luck.

Thanks. Didn't like this one though due to learning with Seiji does to his master. It's so depressing. _________________________ Steve's Characters - please don't forget to vote on them if you play them.

From Verak, it takes me only to Innsmouth. _________________________ Steve's Characters - please don't forget to vote on them if you play them.
To further clarify, you should leave Verthorn through the main gates where you entered, then follow the road south to get back to Verak first.

That's the issue, there is no transition from Verak north. I see the map point, but no transition. _________________________ Steve's Characters - please don't forget to vote on them if you play them.
*** Spoilers ***
Starting from your escape from the barbarians, you want to head north through the jungle to Innsmouth. From there, you talk to Captain Nord to reach Dunbane. In Dunbane, you want to go to the west side of town to the Fremmins Iron Breakers Legion Barracks to pick up an ally. After that, return to the boat and talk to Captain Nord again to get to Verak. From Verak, head north to Verthorn.

If this is to pass through Vethbro or whatever, I can't continue north. _________________________ Steve's Characters - please don't forget to vote on them if you play them.
*** Spoilers ***
Simply follow the road north until you hit a town and find a ship. Talk to the captain. He will take you to the capitol of Keld where you can reunite with an old ally.

How do we get to Keld? _________________________ Steve's Characters - please don't forget to vote on them if you play them.
*** Very Minor Spoilers ***
Since you're asking about the Oracle, I assume you figured out your first question. To get to the oracle, you want to pick up the gate key off of one of the guardians' bodies and open the gate to the camp. Go straight till you hit a huge building and walk inside.

The way that this story is presented is like no other game out there. It is almost like a movie at times. Probably half time spent on this chapter was breaking out the popcorn and enjoying the fantastic cutscenes that give insight to the character's past and their current motives. The story continues to blossom into the epic adventure that this series has earned a well deserved reputation for. The masterful writing that guides the player through a world of increasing hostilities and a determined clawed enemy who leaves a path of destruction wherever he goes, uses a brilliant blend of wit, humor, and dark overtones. The presentation of this darkening world is perfectly shown with cutscenes that the creators of the Neverwinter Campaigns would be envious of. Despite the limited gameplay compared to earlier chapters, the game was even more enjoyable as the story became clearer. The limited running around and fighting still matches the best that the vault and most games can offer. One thing that the player starts to experience in this chapter is custom special moves. Typically, after level 20, continuing to level in one class has very limited benefits, however, in this game, the author has included special post-level 20 special moves that greatly reward the player for continuing in the path of a monk.
Overall, a magnificent story that is portrayed in a masterful way with a plethora of custom material. Truly unlike any other game on the vault.

You're welcome - you spent much more time making and recreating the mod I'm playing for free, so this is the least I can do.
I think most of your "on enter"-scripts fire every time I enter a map through loading. When I load a map with an "autosave on enter", it will autosave right after loading. This is the first instance where this behaviour causes a problem.

Libita, thanks again for taking the time to write your thoughts on the module and for reporting the bug with Shadow Seiji. I'll look into fixing it as soon as possible.

Compared to the last chapter, this one was more serious. The main difference for me was getting a bulk of background exposition, which is always good in this series, and Van Eisen. He had barely turned up and already brought a smile on my face ("I keep him because I'm a*bleep*").
I also hit the first custom epic abilities duing this chapter. And the balance is formidable most of the time.
The changes to the mod, at least those I noticed, were very good. The author has a talent for dealing with and listening to his fans. _________________________ One feels inclined to say that the idea that man should be "happy" is not included in the plan of "creation". - Sigmund Freud

Some notes on my recent runthrough:
- The bloodhound rings were very helpful in finding the doors. You seem to have a knack of adding helpful items to circumvent most of the problems.
- The chase scene wasn't as exhilarating the second time once I noticed that I am nearly twice as fast as him. Though being caught still scared me quite a bit. And that's most likely because I anticipated it.
- Most of the puzzles were trivial. They made for a change of pace, but weren't enough to get my brain heated up. Fine with me, as I'm not a puzzle fan anyway.
- SPOILERS "Shadow Seiji" seems to be bugged. I had to reload after my first go at him, which triggered the cutscene a second time and created a second Seiji who fought against the first. When he died, the dream ended. END SPOILERS
The atmosphere is still great. And Van Eisen is always a plus. _________________________ One feels inclined to say that the idea that man should be "happy" is not included in the plan of "creation". - Sigmund Freud
If you do have chapter 5 installed and this is occurring, please email me your saved game at [email protected]. Having a saved game will allow me to more quickly and accurately diagnose and fix the problem.
