'ALFA Full Subraces' package by Shir'le E. Illios, Chosen of Eilistraee. The enclosed zip file has the script package .erf and the documentation in text format.
Shir'le has done a magnificent job coming up with a comprehensive system for recreating demi-human subraces as per the Forgotten Realm Source Book. Effective Character Level (ECL), racial advantages and disadvantages are in there. You can play a pretty authentic:
DWARF: GOLD
DWARF: GRAY (Duergar)
DWARF: SHIELD
ELF: DARK (Drow)
ELF: MOON
ELF: SUN
ELF: WILD
ELF: WOOD
GNOME: DEEP (Svirfneblin)
GNOME: ROCK
HALF ELF
HALF ORC
HALFLING: GHOSTWISE
HALFLING: LIGHTFOOT
HALFLING: STRONGHEART
HUMAN
HALFDROW
ALFA has borrowed liberally from the general NWN community, and we are glad to share something back.
2004.06.09 A small update that allows the script to be compiled again (renamed some area variables that clashed with BioWare constants).

I like the idea behind this . I just have one problem with it. I followed all the instalation instructions . But when i take a drow subrace its skills and abilities dont change. i get the conversation everyway i try to word subrace drow, dark elf ,ect.. and also the light sensitivity i can t get to work . I put the above ground in one area and underground in another as a test and i get nothing. and i used the area hb script to check for the sun . i dont have any of the drow spells like dark . if someone can help me with this plz e mail me
And I start building my own custom sub-races, so far so good.
Then I notice something - Appraise is missing as a skill from the list.
Is this easily remided by simply adding - "20" = SKILL_APPRAISE - to the relevant file or is it more complicated?
Finally it would be really nice if we could add bonus Feats for when building our own Races. I actually use them extensively - instead of the more esoteric and hard to balance abilities that DnD uses.
Hi. Great scripts, though I think now with dynamic item properties, creature hide items are the way to go. Also, your XP_RewardXP function does not take into account any of the PrCs for favored class and multiclassing penalties (PrCs are not counted when determining multiclassing penalties in 3E).

Now then, while I am sure that some of you find this useful, the actual thing itself is a bloody piece of +blocked+. It has no self-extractor, etc. and when placed into the erf files, it does nothing. Also, it has no installation instructions, rather it tells you what will happen once it is installed, which isn't very useful if that cannot be done. If anyone wants to seriously improve on this, then by all means, be my frikkin' guest.

Its me again,
Well this is to let you all know that i got the script to work 100%. I finally installed SoU and i think it has somethin to do with that. It even works great for players that have HotU. Ive been tryin my module out with some friend on the net. They were surprised at how the Efects of the subraces worked so well.. Well If you all need some help don't hessitate to get in contact with me. I hope the other information that i left from my precedent letters has helped some of you. Also Again thanks Shir'le E.. This is a GREAT subrace script.
My next project for this script will be how to figure out on adding additional subraces to this script. Even though you can count a total of about 20 on this one alone. I think there should be a possibility on adding some more to this one.
Later everyone and good scripting and Gaming of course.

Hi again,
Sorry i just re read my last post and i forgot to say about the respawn that it works perfectly you gat all of your bonuses back but after the respawn when you enter into another area like outside and the negative effects come into effect. your bonuses dissapear in the right upper corner of your screen.. I havnt figured out quite what it is just yet but not to worry your race bonuses are there even if you do not see them on the screen. They appear on your character sheet. I Asure you they are there. But if you have any problems just email me and let me know.. I will try to find a solution for the bonuses dissapearing on the screen. As i said dont worry they are there just keep looking at you character sheet.. k thanks to everyone..
This is a compilation of the old system into a single score. There were 40 that made this score of 8.95 then rounded to 9.

Love the script, I have been working on a HCR PW, thing is from what I can tell, since the HUD update, I've had the same problem as Xityar, So changing the 2 constant names in the subrace script seems to have fixed it, but I was wondering if Xityar or Shirle could tell me where else these constants appear in the scripts, to save me the trouble of searching every script....as I said the scripts are functional, I'm just concerned about the affects that use these constants anywat happy ho;idays and thanks

I really like this script, well documented, easy handled.
I did notice something that seemed wrong to me, ill makea quick note here, so you might think of it youself should you ecnounter the same..
the constants AREA_UNDERGROUND and AREA_ABOVEGROUND are already in use, and cannot be used by this script again, so all you need to do is replace them with an alternative name throughout all the scripts in this set...
then again, it might only be me who got this problems on install, with all the changes i made to my mod :)
greets to all ilythiiri yatharil's out there

Maybe someone could help me with this.
I have a mod (not HCR) and use this cool subrace addon. The problem is that everytime my players die and respawn, they no longer get there bonuses, unless the relog. Ideas?
Great addon btw. Well played!

I've taken what I've learned from using and enhancing the SEI subrace system for many months and created a new subrace system. I believe it addresses all the bugs in this public beta release of the SEI subraces. I tried to make it much easier to understand and extend for the creation of user defined subraces. It also takes advantage of the new functions for area type in NWN v1.31.
I invite you to check out the beta release available at the CRR SourceForge web site . Please read the forums there for updated information regarding the beta release before installing the system.

Yeah that will happen, I know when I wrote my subraces script a year and a half ago (or whenever it was the game came out) I found that you have to do a check when they enter the new room/zone and re-apply all the racial benefits. Same with resting and what not. So you might want to check into that line to fix it.

I got this to work so far and I'm just learning this stuff. Interesting thing that happens tho is when a PC zones into another area simply by running over the transition trigger, he loses his positive abilities. However if i zone by right clicking the transition area (not manually running thru, get the little portal icon thing, everything is good. Anyone know why?
Last thing i been trying so hard to intergrate this and a sky pak. (ANY SKY PAK). Cant get them to work together. When i do, the PC subrace just ends up losing his abilities. Like i said, i'm just a newbi at this but would appreciate anyone actually pointing me to maybe a module that has both these things or someone sending me maybe a very small 2 area module (above ground and underground)that has these things working together. Sorry for not knowing all the correct terminology here.
Thxs in Advance

Ok, I got most of it to work. However, one thing that still doesn't work is the heartbeat script for "outside" areas. That script calls for a SEI_AreaHeartbeat() function, which I don't see in the list of defined functions on the right.
I used a Drow to test the mod, and although he is blinded when he initially enters the area, the blindness does not continue after that heartbeat.

Hi, I imported all the files and set all the scripts as per the instructions, but when I log in with a subrace character, none of its racial abilities/bonuses are initialized. Are there some common mistakes I should check for to make sure I'm doing it right?
Posted by Nimo ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-08-01 11:50:00
As of patch 1.31 it seems all subrace scripts are broken due to new scripting functions.

Hey this is a great script I'v been lookin for somethin like this for NWN, I mean since bein able to choose all those subraces in Icewind dale 2 , lol I kinda got used to it. in any case I was wondering if you could include templates like theres templates in the core rulebooks for vampire characters, and then of course tieflings and aasimar I think it would be a GREAT addition thanks alot fer yer time

A number of the problems noted below have been addressed in the updated version I've created for HCR. There is a lot of good discussion on how to use the system and create new subraces in the HCR forums. I recommend you visit them if you're having trouble. I also recommend you make use of the updated version I've created as there are several bugs, some serious in the original version which have been fixed. You can find a link to the file in my signature on the HCR forum. There will be a version here on the vault soon.
Most of the discussions are in the Discussion forum although there is a thread or two in the Questions forum as well.
Regards,
Lorinton

This is a great script!!! Unfortunately, while it's good for the races included and, in theory, it's great for making your own subraces, it doesn't recognize new subraces once you've made them.

Just a couple of feature requests,
Firstly the ability to switch features on/off at character levels, this could be done with perhaps having 3 psudo subraces for one real one, each of which is selected for a diferent character level.
The other request is for a Damage Vunribilty trait.
Great, and I mean GREAT work :)

ok guy mabie someone can anser this for me i added this system and when someone logs in with a unknown subrace it pops up the chat and makes them choose the right subrace then it tells them to contact a DM and have them make it prmenit (or something like that) who do i do this do i have to remake there pc or something or do i just put in some kind of verable or tell them to make the char right or what?
Posted by Matt ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-04-12 15:33:00
Got it. Man do I feel dumb. I had disabled 'build module on save' so the scripts weren't being compiled after I made the changes.
Don't mind me folks, I'm just your friendly village idiot. ^_^

I'm having the same problem as Eirek below.
I've added the new subrace definitions to the sei_subraceslst script file as the included instructions say, I've added the new subraces to the list of enums in the main subraces script file, I've updated the conversation and created scripts to set the new subraces from the conversation if they're not properly detected.
But it doesn't seem to be working - the new races aren't detected and even when they're forced via the conversation the values aren't set. Near as I can tell it simply isn't reading in the subrace data that I've created in the sei_subraceslst file. At first I thought maybe I was typing something wrong, so I just copied a full subrace that I know worked, pasted it to the bottom of the listing, and altered it accordingly. Still didn't work.
Any ideas?

Shambling, this code is already a part of HCR. Go to the HCR page, then to their forum, and look under the HCR Discussion forum for new HCR releases. As well as a link to a Subrace add-on which includes creature skins.
