IMPORTANT : The latest version of the guide is now in the 1.69 Lexicon tutorial and function sections. However, the demo on this page is still current.

This unofficial guide has been produced to help module builders to use the horse system and creature scaling introduced in NWN 1.69.

A player tutorial and FAQ is available at the 1.69 Riding Academy.

There is also a forum for horse questions.

The Builders' Guide covers

- Impact on existing modules.

- Simple steps to get started.

- How the horse system works.

- Module building in depth.

- Creature scaling.

- Custom creature integration outline.

- Lexicon of functions and switches.

A basic understanding of the Aurora toolset, NWScript and 2da files is assumed, but 3D modelling skills are not required.

There is also a demo module for horses, with an erf file which you can import into your own modules.

If you like, you can customise the demo as a sandbox to try out more of the optional features.

Demo features include

- OnModuleLoad and horse OnSpawn scripts with templates for the many optional switches and variables.

- Basic conversations which allow the PC, a henchman, or the whole party to manage horses.

- A custom menu using the new chat functions in 1.69.

For some community extensions to the horse system, see DM Horse Menu & Humanoid Riders by ShadowM, Jousting System by Suspender, Blackguard Summoned Horse by Ollebroc, The Krit's alternate horse scripts, a fix for horse theft, a horse stable and (of course) CEP 2.1.

An invaluable resource; so far I've yet to find an unanswered technical question. Only improvement would be to include some advice on using horses in module encounters (how might encounters be designed differently to maximize fun with a mounted PC/party).

Hi there, does anyone here have a script for the problem where is a paladin logs out while on his mount, he logs back in and is still on it?. what has happen is the paladin was on his horse and has logged out, when logging back in the server says he is not mounted to dismount, when he summons another mount and mounts it and then dismounts he dismounts and is still on his horse, and the other horse appears, even after server reset he is still on the mount, i am unable to remove him from the mount. thanks. _________________________ Below you can find all my scripts. \*/Shadow Jump \*/Natural Healing \*/Auto Server Reset \*/Leo's Addon for Vuldrick's Flexible Pantheon Church System \*/Leo's Healing kits

Version 1.05: Added Axe Murderer's transition bug fix for secret doors to "Known Issues" and "Examples". Corrected "Speed Skills when mounted". The speed increase when mounted is typically 50% (not 99% as stated in the Bioware documentation). Updated "PC Creature Skins" to mention a workaround if skins are found in monster loot. "Custom Scripts" section rewritten. Known Issue and fix - lag when horse animations load. Known Issue - save/load while mounted with a ranged weapon equipped can result in a permanent attack penalty. Known Issue - DM client does not show class abilities correctly on the radial menu. Known Issue - ELC and ILR server options affect PC Creature Skins.
