Description
Since the fall of the Ilmarid Empire 10 years ago in a bloody coup staged by the leader of the Arcane Society, and the destruction of the Tinaran peninsula, you have lived on the island of Tinara. The last habitable piece of the peninsula to survive the catastrophic blast that destroyed the last major force of the Ilmarid Legion, as well as the land on which it stood at the time, Tinara is the refuge of thieves and smugglers. The smaller pieces of the penninsula, jutting out of the ocean like skeletal fingers, are referred to as the Shattered Coast, and provide a measure of seclusion to the refugees on Tinara.
One of the only survivors to reach the island, you have hidden your military past as well as you could, and taken up work as a mercenary. Amongst the thieves, pirates, and smugglers that frequent the island, not many questions are asked of you as long as you follow orders. It has been peaceful for the last few years, with little news from the mainland. Rumors have been coming in recently, however, that a member of the royal family - the family declared dead the night the capital city fell - still lives.

Not much to say, except what's already been said in the "official review". That sums it quite nicely, allthough I'd rate it a bit higher.
Outstanding area design. The mod makes use of lots of small areas that work really well. Great story with the aforementioned very odd pacing. The vale does drag quite a bit.
I also found it quite buggy. Lots of cut-scene and companion issues. No game breakers, though.
I can't seem to edit my post, so I'll just continue from here. I was finally able to finish chapter one using the console panel with the door script I found. It was a lot of fun - thank you! I never could level up Annias though.
Hohiro, I finally got Motb working in my mac setup and went back to your mod (actually, I had to start over since I downloaded the updated Chap. 1 and my old saves didn't work). I'm enjoying it, but ran into two problems.
After arriving in the Vale, Annias levels up - but I can't level him! I get to the end but the finish button doesn't light up and I have to cancel.
*Possible Spoiler Alert*
My second problem is that after killing the first guardian and turning on the power I can't find the west door. When I get near the statue in the South I get a "spot check" but I can't find anything.
*End Spoiler*
I'd really appreciate some help!
Thanks for the fun,
Karen :)

A good solid module. A melee type character is a must! There is a LOT of hack and slash action. I am looking forward to playing part 2.

I'll have to agree with the reviewer. I too enjoyed the outdoor area designs (particularly the first cliff and the area right after leaving the vale), the switch from having not much action to hack'n'slash heavy is disorienting, I however don't mind the linearity so I'm giving it a higher mark. The stash you recover at the start, however, does give a much larger amount of gold than it should have (if u manage to carry them around and sell it), so maybe it's best to script it to restrict us into choosing only one of the weapons.

I really enjoyed this module. Great concept, immersive look and feel, excellent production value, and engaging story. Combat was quite tough, but I made it through fairly well with a Monk/Favored Soul/Sacred Fist. Well done!

What is supposed to happen after I destroy the 3rd Tome of Chaos??? The area triggers do not give me any new areas and I've tried to talk to everyone I can find but no responses, and the Journal doesn't help.

Hello !
SPOILER !!
I managed to make the elven paladin fight: when I deactivate the AI for the entire group(the button just on the right of the "Rest" button), he doesn't fight. And, in the contrary, when I enable AI, he does !
And he is such a tough fighter that I did not had any problem against the different bosses ! ;-)
Now I've got another issue: the game crashes in the second chapter (I'm gonna post in the comments of this second module)... :-(
Bye,
Jeum.

Hello !
Good module ! The story is interesting so far. But I've got a bug of AI:
SPOILER !!!
When I meet the elven paladin in the Vale, he comes with me but he doesn't fight ! Even though monsters strike him, he stays still ! I tried many orders on him but nothing changes that it. He fought twice (I don't know why) and was useless all the others fights !
Have you got an idea to lead him properly ? It's the first time I use this AI pack but it doesn't seem too complex to use...
At this time, I manage to clear the area of his monsters. But I'm afraid I'll get into troubles if you put a tough boss or a large pack of enemies, later in the game ! ;-)
Bye,
Jeum.

@micchan: There's new heads/hairstyles!? Oh, patches. I forgot they made it so that hak paks load before character creation, hah. Most of those are NPC heads from the Obsidian campaigns, just made usable by the corresponding races, and I think I had a couple other custom made heads (I added but did not use because they did not lip-sync). _________________________ |<><><>The Tears of Ilmarid Campaign<><><>|

I left more detailed comments in Chapter 2. To summarize, very good mod, excellent story, areas are kind of plain but the story makes up for this. Can't wait for final chapter. _________________________ Failure is not an option

well, that was fun. I liked the story, and while there was too much hack'n'slash for my taste, I just cheated my way through it, so it worked out.
I gotta ask-where did the heads and hairstyles come from?! they are georgeos! I want to have them in other campaigns too, is that possible?

Good mod. No bugs, fast going. Quite easy, though, except for the final fight, thas was awesome! Setting(mostly inner) could be better, imo.
Now playing chapter 2!
Thanx for the good mod

Wow and Wow!
I am loving the storyline so far! Definately hooked on the series.
This has beautiful Areas and some pretty good atmosphere. The tone of the module has been pretty good about conveying a sense of urgency.
I must say it has many very good elements. I even found that the spelling and grammer for the most part was correct. I found no bugs that were not caused by NWN2 itself, and had no problems with combat or gear balance.
I didn't think I would say this, but I am enjoying playing a monk rather than my typical rogue, and has been totally enjoyable so far.
The characters all have an intriguing back story as well, and I hope to get to know them much better before the end.
I have already started chapter two. By the way, nice idea for a holding area between chapters, I have seen similar systems in the past, but I like the way yours is set up.
You have a new loyal fan! Great Work! _________________________ Stupidity kills people.

At my age most modules have replay value because I can't remember how well they went the first time. Need to up my vote on ToI1 however as I was hooked on the story this time and could not wait to get started on ToI2.

Just checking to be sure I did vote and that is consistant with all the fun of the last playthrough geting ready for Ch 2.

Well basicly module is very good, definetly worth of playing but but there is few but's...
/*SPOLERS*/
I did play with cleric/doomguide and it was really too easy. I wouldnt recomend to play this with cleric at all because death magic slay's all living just like that and undeads are pretty helpless against undeath to death and spells like that. Final opponent was worthy enemy and gave nice challenge prolly only good fight in here, first guardian was good fight too. Also when u go to crypts u expect tombs to raid but there was nothing at all to raid. It was pretty boring because all opponents were in few undeads, So u knew what to expect. There was no creapy supprice's what makes u bit alert of ur actions. Loot was poor in this mod as Doomguide i had focus on bastard sword but all i could found was +2. Even starting gear was better than that. Storyline was uterly linear there was no change of making any sort of decesions in here, what would affect the game. Well here is some tips to get more athmosphere in future mod's. Ill give go for the sequel now.
Thanks Hohiro! I was really enjoying your mod until I encountered that bug. I will be sure to vote when I'm done.

I honestly haven't the slightest idea what is causing that bug, but you're not the first to encounter it. I have what should be a functional workaround for the time being.
In the console, type:
debugmode 1
runscript ga_area_transition(initium_to_infractus, 1)
debugmode 0 _________________________ |<><><>The Tears of Ilmarid Campaign<><><>|

I reloaded a previous save game and I went back to the library level with the same result. When I place my cursor on the doorway above the stairs it's like there isn't even one there. Do I have to do something else in this area that I'm missing?
I'm in the Vale and I restarted the focus crystal in the south wing. Now I'm stuck. Am I supposed to be able to go back up the stairs? I can't leave this area with the library and the banquet hall. Please help.
