Description
In this bleak winter-cursed world there lies one small hope. Paradise. A forest deep in green and drunk on Spring, it is all that keeps the White Rose from getting crushed by despair. It is all that keeps you, a fugitive on the run, moving forward.

As you travel through the Shade Plain the situation becomes complicated. Fate or perhaps ill luck- intertwines you with the dark events that plague the land.

Ultimately, there lies one question that must be answered.

Will you keep fast the promises made?

Or will you allow despair to soothe you into an eternal sleep?

Knowing the miles to go.
And the miles to go.

The Search for Paradise is the sequel to the White Rose. Characters that finished the first chapter should be used in this one.

A huge imrpovement to the prequel. Interesting storyline and most of all a very interesting unique setting.

Lots of fun. Sad that there doesn't seem to be a closure to the story.

This is leaps and bounds beyond the first module, which was very good as it was. The combat here is a bit more balanced. the sense of immersion and isolation is great, and the plot is becoming very interesting. It did seem a bit short though. It could also use a bit more equipment, and some more interaction among the NPC party members. Otherwise, a fantastic work! Some sandboxing would be neat, perhaps hunting up some bits for more crafting of your own gear, a little discovery here or there. Still, wonderful.

After a long while I returned to playing NWN2 modules and I'm glad I did. The greatest thing in The Search for Paradise is this immersive end of the world atmosphere that well selected musical tracks enhance. Combat is the same enjoyable experience as always (although Tojun's magic spell collection needs some reorganazing, escpesially the 2nd level spells), the writing is solid and the plot, while sometimes moved in too fast pace, was interesting and keeps me waiting for The Rise of Phoenix (hopefully it's coming because the NWN2 Vault has way too many unfinished trilogies).

Just finished Chapter 2 and found it to be a vast improvement over Chapter 1. I found myself looking forward to each new area as I heard about them and really started to "live" in the world and story you created. The attention to detail and custom content, especially the music and loadscenes, really brought White Rose 2 to life
***Spoiler***
The only knocks on WR2 are that it was too short(a Chpt. 3 might correct this and I'll adjust my vote accordingly if it happens), and the final fight again. This time the FF was winable without a handy-dandy DM supplied piece of equipment. My Bard5/Fighter1 from WR1 finished as B5/F1/RDD4. Pretty quickly my party was all knocked out and I spent about 15 minutes chasing that darned teleporting villian back and forth around the chamber before putting an end to his nefarious scheme.
Even with those complaints, I eagerly await WR3.

I have just finished it. I can't wait to get my hands on WR3. Keep up the good work.

I am playing it after finishing part 1 a few days ago. A good module with an interesting plot and setting. The characters are very original too.

Very nice mod, biggest plus is the actually decent combat difficulty unlike in the vast majority of mods out there (I still recommend playing on "very difficult" though).

Bug!

I can't get past the first stage. The "World Map Transition" doesn't work, won't go to the world map. I was playing the module from the "New Module" menu.

Not the best I've played but definitely worth the effort.

[General comment for the two chapters strung together, voted a bit lower on the first part because it was so very short, but it otherwise shares all the qualities mentionned below]

This is a very beautiful and polished module, from areas to custom items and their descriptions, and some "exotic" creature powers.
The companions and their interactions to the situations encountered are lively and enjoyable.

Combat was somewhat nasty in Ep. 1 for my Barbarian 1 / Warlock with everybody and their dogs displaying Attack Bonuses that went through the characters' Armor Class like wet paper for most of the module.
Ep. 2 was fine, some planning required but a lot more manageable.

The overall story is nicely told though the motivations claimed by the... huh *ducks around spoilers*... main culprits behind most of the current events struck me as somewhat odd.
Quite railroaded overall though the rails generally make plenty of sense, and your exact choices do seem to have consequences here and there, which is nice.

An excellent adventure, thanks for sharing and I do hope there'll be a sequel ^^

Oh, and for some reason when I saw "WR" and the "post-apocalyptic" tag, I thought of the (excellent) Wolf's Rain anime but there's nothing in common ^^

Very nice and immersive story. I liked the custom music too. Henchmen really should have been developed though, basic conversations that stay the same through both modules are dramatically poor for a module tagged as heavy roleplay. I still enjoyed playing this. Thank you.

Note for fellow players : be careful if you have anything in your override folder, it may prevent lots of encounters - both minor and major - from happening (at least in WR1, not sure about WR2).

Posted by nicethugbert at 2009-11-25 12:34:43
Why will this not work with Kaedrin's and CACP in override?

Played this right after i finished the previous part. This one uses it's distinctive style better, maybe because of the first one's ground work. It's an adventure of nice lenght.

As with previous, I like the polish of custom load screens and some of the music was really good. As they say, there's a few typos and some battles could use some work too, but mostly it's great. Good areas, good atmosphere. Again I like the limited resorces, but the drops you do get could use some more variety. getting that bastard sword twice is not a good sign.

Much better than the previous one and Shagga made me give you 10 (as a fan of ASoIaF) but the battles were too easy, especially the last one and the mages didn't use many death spells. Also, a lot of grammar mistakes.
Very enjoyable module overall.

Hi, Everyone,
Anybody know if Jolly Jenkins is still around? He hasn't posted since mid-March, either here or on the White Rose page.

Nice continuation of the first one. Area designs are excellent. Music and Environmentals are good. Storyline is excellent and kept me wanting to play through even though I was tired. Dialogue is good however in some areas its a little unrealistic. I like the companions Jekyll is a hoot. More dialogue between them would be good. Only thing I would take issue with is the item drops in game it seems like every melee carries the same wpns either the same bastard sword or the same long sword or the same club. While there are other drops or finds in the game a little variety on the other items would have been good. Keep up the good work though can't wait for part 3.

I like this, but I think it would be better with more variation in the loot. Maybe some more gear for spell casters would be nice, like a Ring of Wizardry or a Wand of Fireball, since the restrictions on resting are rather painful for wizards and sorcerers. I'm looking forward to the next module. XD

Fun. Cute. Sometimes challenging (you may want to improve the balance a bit in future mods... at the beginning it's rough and too easy at the end). Nice custom music though (end fight!). And even if you still have a problem with past participles, I won't hold it against you... I've played all your modules - I think - and you have taken giant steps! Congrats and thanks again.

I love where this is going. I can't wait for part three!

I do wish there was more character dialogue. They all have such potential in thier own personal back stories! I want to get to know them... maybe even see the option for romance in the future... I mean in a world as desolate as this one, surely love is not lost too?

The music was absolutely top notch spectacular! I loved the track for the final battle with Neverdead!

I loved how the story came together in carefully placed bits and pieces too. There are so many good points to this... It was really a lot of fun to play. Now I wonder why I never downloaded them sooner.

Again I request map notes for the world map transitions as they are hard to see in the snowy areas.

While I do like the fact that there isn't an OVER abundance of junk and gold littering the mods, I would like to see a few more things better suited to maybe a rogue/arcane caster. There was no shortage of gear for the barbarians, fighters or even druid types, but a thief would be hard pressed. I played through as a sorcerer, and there were several times when I wished I had been a rogue instead, and may well try it out if gear for a thief was slightly more plentiful...

I must say, I was initially nervous about the lack of traditional Faerun Deity structure, but it works well, especially if the mindflayers really did manage to usurp all the beliefs of the realms. I feel for the protagonist in the story. In a world where every aspect of faith and morality is questioned, and doubt dogs the mind.

I was actually sad when I got to the end because I was really quite taken with the story. I can see how the story is taking hold in the author's mind... and blossoming very much like a rose... for lack of a better way of putting it. Part one was sort of the budding sprout, and part two shows us the hidden potential beauty of the story... In part three, don't be afraid to blossom! Flesh it out, give this world and it people the life it begs for in our imaginations!!

Haha... sorry got a bit too into the philisophical there... Forgive me. But it really has the potential to be a sweeping epic tale!

Marvelously done!
Keep us posted on the arrival of part three!!

Just wanted to add my comments. Well for one this is hell of alot better then the first well done I really enjoyed this one alot. When posted Post Apocalyptic Means End of faerun or something like the world of faerun has been kinda destroyed in a way well if thats the case really well done on makeing a story about it. Well I allso want to add I think more items and longer mod will be awsome for the next chap cant wait to play it. Allso if possible during ur voyage to the last forest u should make a scean where they all have a talk about what it will be like to get there to the forest as they talk on there ship gets raided maybe by some kind of monsters or somthing would be fun to see well happy createing the new mod fairwell. Is actully a bit excited hehe I have played many mods and this is one of my favs.

Posted by JollyJenkins at 2009-03-16 15:54:58
No problem, nos. I'm glad you greatly enjoyed this mod.

Thanks for this mod; It was great overall, and I especially enjoy the unique setting, original and snowy. Definitely waiting to see how things are going to unfold in the last part.
Must be in the next:
- more items, especially weapons! I struggled with a bone and a short sword+1 bought in the first part before Cee finally join the party. I "had to" steal her short sword+2.
- the mood outside the castle Shade is perfect, thanks to the atmospheric and battle tracks. Keep those ones for the next.
- more fleshed out dialogs would greatly add to your compagnons. Moments like the one when Jekyll tried to fight his evil side near the lonely tree make them stand out.

To grandgnu:
Sorry, but you are going to have to reload to a point when Brenda was still alive to finish that quest. With the polar fight try keeping her at good health with a healer. (either you or jekyll)

Posted by grandgnu at 2009-03-09 12:47:46
I'm in the tomb but Brenda died in battle because of the explosion of one of the polar infused.

So when I reach the missing archeologists there doesn't appear to be anything I can do to continue or clear the journal entry.

I assume I have to keep her alive in order to finish this quest? Any console command or something I can use here?

Posted by seeker22 at 2009-02-27 07:19:07    Voted 8.00 on 02/27/09
Nice work, balancing is much improved over the first part.

Major issue was I was not really sure why I should want to follow the White Rose guys, let Seeker rot ;) . Some more motivation for the PC would be nice.

I also would have liked some more extensive sidequest and some more interaction in places like the barbarian village.

Well done!
The story, rp:ing with party npcs, music, and setting is done with high standard!

+
.Well written and keeps the interest for upcoming parts!
.Roleplaying elements with party members - Jekyll did scare me a bit...
.Music - wünderschön!

-
.the battle with dryads and treants (the manipulation/dream) were a bit too out of 'placeä perhaps.. a way bit easy too.
.Neverdead were too difficult..

Well excelent module in overall. I think final battle was way too easy.
And the game end like to wall after that. Mayby story continues....
It was bit boring to find similiar weapons, i had 2 of almost every magic weapon available hehe. stores didnt really have anything usefull except 1 thiefs tool . But apart of that i enjoyed playing this mod. Great story and had some supprices in it.
