Description
You wake up at home in the village of Marintree slightly the worst for wear after a night of partying
with the local dryads.A contest is being held in the village to select people to join the Order of the
Moon as your sister Serene did a couple of years ago .Events unfold and what starts as a hunt for Serene
turns into revenge....

A story driven module set on an island that is controlled by an order of monks for single players
starting at level 4/5 , any class suitable, although casters should give themselves some constitution
bonus unless they want to become addicted to healing potions .However resting is allowed just about
everywhere ( if it isn't there's a reason ) so plenty of time to recharge....

Alignment doesn't matter as this is about revenge so good or evil , lawful or chaotic is not an issue,
it's the result that counts. However , playing as a paladin is not advisable as in one area it would be
impossible for a paladin to continue and not spend the rest of his/her life in some temple repenting for
severely breaking the law ...

You will have two companions a monk and a rogue ( one male , one female ) they are both absolutely vital
to the story and both are romanceable, however this happens quite fast so be nice / flatter them early on
if you want it to happen ( will start upstairs in the halfling tavern if you've been charming enough). Talk to them both as they have quite a lot to say for themselves , if you have
no questions to ask try again later .

To make sense I recommend being no more than 30 years old , human , half elf or elf ( however some
armour will not fit female elves )and please do not play as one of the vertically challenged races
( dwarf , halfling or gnome ) ,you will see why and it could ruin the game for you . Half Orcs and
Genasi etc would also leave your mother with a lot of explaining to do and look ridiculous....!

In a lot of places there is no going back ( there'll be a lot of people after you ) so make use of
merchants whenever they are available.

There is no crafting but there should be enough magic items to keep you happy and I hope I have catered
for all weapon types too .

Conversation skills are not necessary and I would recommend combat and casting skills ( inc. use magic
items ) and a few sneaky ones for good measure , survival and tracking can be useful too..

With regards to roleplay there are choices but only when it matters so not every conversation has a list
of replies to scroll through , this is basically a story and you are the hero/heroine so just go with the
flow and try to roleplay yourself into the character not the other way around .By all means kill or help
who you want but you will not influence the outcome dramatically...

*******************************************************

I have never used the toolset before I started this so your characters journey is mine too , you'll
notice the journal gets used a lot at the beginning ( only way I knew how to keep a track on progress)
and areas improve with time . One issue I know of and could never fix is that your characters will jump
back in two/three places and try to talk , keep going where you were headed and it will clear .
This is caused by a conversation waiting to work but you have not reached that point in the plot yet, it
will start later and then never again will you jump in that place . I never could get this to work
properly !

This story would never have been possible without a lot of help and support from the NWN community on
the Bioware web site. I have no background in computers and have never used the toolset before this , but
through the selflessness of a lot of people it finally got done...

I thank you all , you are as follows ( alphabetical order, there's so many of you !)....

Abbey, alupini, Anduraga son of Kosaraga, Arvirago, Banshe, Brian Meyer, CID-78, CiviLized ,
Danjen, Darth Deekin, dirtywick, DedoITA, Dordain, dunniteowl, dwarvendervish ,Elysius, Equintir Eligard ,

*****************************************************

LOADING INSTRUCTIONS.....
Download all three parts ( I split it up so each wouldn't take so long to download )
Unzip the three folders..

Part 1 .... Put the folder called Serene in your campaigns folder ,
Put the folder called serene.hak in your hak folder ,
Put the folder called Credits.bik in your movies folder ( if you already have this in there
do not worry it is just so the ending credits play )..
Put the folder called To the mountains in your modules folder .

Parts 2 and 3 are just modules , unzip them and put them all in your modules folder ..

****** VERY IMPORTANT ******
Move the files in your override out to another file they have been causing big problems with a certain pixie ! Some work some don't if you want to use them I'm afraid it's trial and error...
******************************************************

WARNING..............!

By starting this campaign you are accepting the conditions that your character will be shot at, stabbed,
punched, fireballed and possibly killed many times .......

I HOPE YOU ENJOY IT....!

There are a lot of comments on this so I've included a FAQ in case you get stuck/confused it saves reading the whole lot.

** It appears that the big bad boss has matured and is getting harder to kill ! If you
have this problem and just want to get on with the story here's a console command
that will give him a massive and fatal heart attack rs ga_death("erontuko",-1)
Don't worry it serves him right ! **

notquitedeadyet.. You're welcome, I'm glad you enjoyed yourself and with votes and comments like that you're more than welcome to be my "guest" anytime.. I particularly like the spectacular part :) There's "A Fairy Tale" of mine here on the vault too ( I made it after this one ) if you haven't played it yet and if you do happy travels to you, but the next one is going to be quite a while yet.

Posted by notquitedeadyet at 2012-10-29 18:20:41    Voted 10.00 on 10/29/12
I had a spectacularly wonderful experience being your guest in this surprising and well rounded module, for which I thank you and I look forward to more as hopefully the time avails itself unto you... Cheers!

Notabarbiegirl.. Thanks for the vote and I'm very pleased that you enjoyed this one too and I'm always happy to kill Mr Eron too especially when Serene does it, I'm also happy to see that you obviously took this the right way and appreciated it for what it is.

As for your question the answer is yes and I'm currently working on the sixth module of a campaign that's just for monks ( my favourite much forgotten class ), I have no idea how long it will take as I'm writing it as I go along and letting it grow by itself just like how I did this one. That doesn't mean it's without focus as it has a big one it's just what happens en route that changes but I think I'm about half way at the moment. It's currently running from level 1 to 12, has two permanent romanceable very talkative companions, loads of areas in another land far far away and it's called Bad Habits after monks attire and one companions "lifestyle choices."

Considering this was your 1st mod I think it was wonderful. I am not even going to compare it to Fairy Tale they are different worlds.
The battles were challenging & made me remember the save often rule. I say save before you open a door, or chest, save before you do something stupid, or talk with someone & for pity sake save after each large battle. This just keeps my real head from exploding & has nothing to do you with your game, I loved the challenge.

I have read some of the other comments & everyone is entitled to their opinion.

That being said you put an extraordinary amount of effort into this story.
Evil is Bad, Evil does things to sicken & anger you, that is why it is Evil. That is why a character should be motivated to forcibly remove the smirk off of Evils face. This does not mean the writer codons evil behavior, they want you to stop the Evil & have tried to motivate you to stop the evil.

I say good job making the Bad guy in this truly evil I hated everything he stood for & when my character finally killed him ( after 3 reloads) I said "take that you jerk". I am sure there was quite a party waiting for him in the hells,& the Succubi sisters were at the head of the line.
Remember Lawful does not always mean Good, He was Lawful Evil & used everyone he could even Lawful Good was taken in by his schemes. Blindly following law with out question can cause problems in "any world".

So my only question is:

Tsongo are you willing to make any more mods?
With your talent for story telling and design I hope that you are.

ralebeau.. There'll be plenty of fresh monks to kick around in my new mod and you'll have to be one too.. So have some coconut wine and give the moon order a good bashing from me too !

Posted by ralebeau at 2012-08-21 10:16:43    Voted 10.00
Have to come back and replay this epic tale every so often, just to kick some monk butt and more. Only took nearly three years to find a portrait good enough to match Karina, but the story is still more than a match for the best modules on the vault.

Posted by tsongo at 2012-07-07 01:55:10
Seipher.. Oh dear poor Karina ! It certainly helps to talk to them but to really start it off you have to go upstairs in Primrose's tavern. I put it in the description up above so you're not alone in wondering.

Posted by Seipher at 2012-07-06 17:20:45
In order to intiate the romances, do you have to manually talk to them constantly? I was nice to Karina the entire time and never got it.

Posted by tsongo at 2012-05-16 11:30:23
mmtbb.. No problem and don't worry about the basement that's just the way out from the dungeon if the knights capture you when you arrive.. Happy travels..

Posted by mmtbb at 2012-05-16 09:51:42
Thank you for the answer!!

SPOILER**
I was concerned about the basement. I try to unlock it but it says it is impossible. Should I not worry about going down there?

Posted by tsongo at 2012-05-16 00:16:26
mmtbb.. It's been a while since I played/made this and I had to really think, but I'm pretty sure you haven't messed up just talk to the man at the actual stables where the horses are he should have some for you to ride off into the sunset on. I'm glad you're enjoying this so far and hope you have a trouble free journey from now on.

Posted by mmtbb at 2012-05-15 17:44:25
Great so far. However, I'm Stuck :(

****SPOILER****
I am in the knight's castle. I have killed Sir John. However, I can't go anywhere now. There is no transition in the stable after killing the iron golem. I can't go downstairs (probably the dungeon) in the castle because I don't have the key. Did I screw something up?

Posted by tsongo at 2012-03-04 04:31:15
Dr_Sungh ?

Don't worry I believe you and I'm glad you enjoyed yourself playing this. I'm busy "growing" another mod at the moment but will grab my axe and put on my hides one day I'm sure as I thoroughly enjoyed your NWN1 trilogy even though I have to confess I didn't vote !

My excuse is that I'd arrived very late in the day only having bought NWN1 and a computer just before 2 came out. It's a bittersweet ride doing this sort of thing but I must say your comments on the forum absolutely nailed it.

Better go and check I voted on my recent hak "purchases" now ;)

Posted by Dr_Sungh at 2012-03-03 16:43:50    Voted 10.00 on 03/03/12
Thanks Tsongo for this adventure!

I played this some time ago, and thought it was really good. What I especially liked was that I kept thinking the story was going to wind up and then it turned yet another interesting corner. I can well believe your comment that it grew organically in your imagination. Sadly I didn't quite finish it as I think I broke it when quicksaving at the wrong point - stealing some horses and riding away as I recall, which is my excuse for being remiss and not voting until prompted by the recent forum interchange!

Thanks again!

John

Enialus Meliamne.. One thing that I will say about this is be careful, rushing in will cause problems to your health and yes setting follow close and guard the master is pretty much vital. In areas with a lot of creatures the perception of your companions kicks in and they can see more than you so tend to go on the rampage as you discovered. I'm glad you appreciate the humour some people don't but you'll see there are such serious things going on to your characters it would be enough to put them in the asylum if they didn't laugh about it and have a "we could all die tomorrow attitude". Besides this is supposed to be fun anyway.

As for my inspirations well this was written by mistake ( pretty big one ) and just started with the village of Marintree ( wondering how to use the toolset on a rainy day with not much to do ) I put in a couple of NPC's then a conversation or two, quests etc and it grew by itself. So in a way it was what I made that inspired me to make more and once you have a character they sort of grow by themselves. My fairy tale did have a bit of an inspiration and that was from Tinkerbell herself ( my daughter's favourite ) but that was just the who owns the magic and what happens if you destroy it stuff the rest was me and my toolset ramblings again. I've never DM'd a game but rather like the idea that you could react to situations much better than you ever could in a pc game however it's not likely to happen.

Posted by Enialus Meliamne at 2011-12-27 23:16:42
Tsongo. Where did you get your inspiration for these stories? You've got a knack for putting together good stories, is why I ask. Ever DM'd a game before? If not, you'd be really good at it!

Probably didn't help that I didn't set the Guard the Master on the companion, so she ran the other way and grabbed agro (The Head Orge plus two Golem Guards, LOL). That on top of the wizard who was AI Spelled up, was shall we say, a no win fight without mondo reloads. Must. Remember. To see. Guard. The Master next time. :)

I'm not going to vote right now on this, but holy uber sword of doom on the orge in the tower, batman! 16 respawns later, I quit for the night. AC of 25 on my monk. I think I'll give up the ghost on my monk and try a fighter with some ICE feats instead. I'm intrigued by the story though, so I'll go back to it after a few other mods I've got in queue. I just need to find a build that'll survive. :-) Great use of humor in the mod btw. Very similar across both of your mods, which is another reason I'm a fan of them. I'll give it another crack at another time and put a post vote afterwards.

darkthor.. I agree and sometimes I couldn't live without them you can always reload if you want.

Winwood.. That's very decent of you indeed, many thanks and I'm glad you still find it fun on a replay.

3mily-raNgeR - I disagree with you on the unlimited death, I really like the unlimited respawns.

Posted by tsongo at 2011-11-19 01:30:19
3mily_raNgeR.. I always thought that the respawn, load or quit gave everybody an option and would please the most ammount of players. I understand that altering the respawn would make it more of a challenge but this was the first time I used the toolset so fiddling with scripts didn't happen ( still doesn't very often ). Recently I played some modules and I actually stuck in a respawn option on all of them before I started playing as I can't stand custom death things or reloads and would rather just get on with the story. I also think that without this option I would have been slated for this more than I already have, so I'm pleased to hear you were able to adjust it ( did you just change the on player death script ?) but I haven't got the nerve so late in the day but thanks for the suggestion. I'm also happy to hear that you think ( you're not alone by the way ) that although there's a lot of stuff it fits in with the fighting as I really hadn't got a clue about balance when I made this but being a pretty rubbish player of the game I just figured that if I could do it anyone could and adjusted AC weapons etc whilst I was testing it. I think that any module that caters for any class has to give away a lot of things as you can't just throw in a greatsword and forget the wizards, well you could but they're a grumpy lot :)

Posted by 3miLy_raNgeR at 2011-11-17 09:42:48    Voted 9.50 on 11/04/11
Is there any chance of you changing the death system? I really dislike unlimited respawns, unless it's for beta testing. Even something like 1/4 health and a temporary attack penalty would help make dying more significant.

I found a way to edit it myself after a bunch of searching and I think it plays much better :)

Personal preference, I'm not sure how many would agree with me to warrant a change.

I'd also say the gear and money you make is very high but it fits with the difficulty of the enemies.

Posted by tsongo at 2011-11-13 03:26:02
DNDWizard... Oh dear, one problem though, there are a lot of monks in this and it's a big module whereabouts are you and what have you done so far as I'm a bit clueless as to what should come next.

Posted by DNDWizard at 2011-11-12 18:37:10
Hey!
I'm having problems, I think its a bug but IDK? After you kill the monks, and you enter, there is a world map thingy. I go to it, but it doesn't work! PLEASE HELP!!!

Long campaign, very nice storyline.

The whole grammatical thing with the ellipses annoyed me at first but I got used to it. Not much for roleplaying, but I loved the story, so that didn't bother me either.

The combat can get very hack/slash at times, but I liked the hoards of enemies >:]
