Description

You are a retired adventurer in the sandy realm of Terria, tending your profitable antiques shop in the city of Dersuf. The peace is not to last, however, as you find yourself caught in between a clash of factions that is linked to your past.

�VERY IMPORTANT NOTES�- YOU MUST READ THESE BEFORE PLAYING THE MODULE, PLEASE.

-RACE/CLASS RESTRICTIONS: Your pc must be one of the THREE RACES allowed (HUMAN, HALF-ORC OR FIRE GENASI) and no other, there is no hardcoded restriction, but the game will not make sense otherwise.

Choosing a Human will make you a Terrian Human.

Choosing a Half-Orc will make you a HALF-GROTH in the world of Yewrun (Groth are hairy, aggressive humanoids that burrow beneath the desert sands. Half-Groth are persons whose ancestry is human and groth).

Choosing a Planetouched, Fire Genasi will make you a REFHRITE in the world of Yewrun (Refhrites are touched by the God of Fire and Chaos, Refhrun. Although they tend to be chaotic and proud, they can be of any alignment. Refhrites tend to travel the desert in nomadic bands, and love the mercantile trades).

-COMPANIONS: There are THREE companions in the game, and only ONE can be in your party at any time. Companions will disappear from their place in the game world once recruited. Companions can be switched and summoned at ANY time using the �Party Roster� sub-menu in the �Player Menu�. To bring up the �Player Menu� click the button called �Toggle Player Menu� in the bottom-left corner of your screen. It is next to the �Rest� button and is shaped like the NWN-eye logo. It brings up a list of sub-menus, and party roster is one of those sub-menus. I recommend choosing one companion and sticking with them, and speaking with them regularly. It may be possible to change their life choices.

�GENERAL NOTES�

-The world is called Yewrun, the desert region you start off in is called Terria, the city you live in is called Dersuf.

-I recommend a level 7 character of any class, start the game without any equipment or money, as these will be provided for you. Upon starting the game you have access to a chest and armoire full of items. Just choose the items you need for your pc, as none of it can be sold. Paying attention to the journal and conversation may be important and yield important clues. There are multiple solutions to most quests, some involving alignment.

I'm glad you enjoyed the areas.

The next mod's release date is unknown- unfortunately it will take a while. I have finished the first large area and the buildings within, but have at least four or five big areas with smaller areas to do! The storyline is developed, and the first major quest and a few side quests have been done. I have personal responsibilities getting in the way as well. I will update as progress is made.

Thanks for the help! I had finished the mod, but went back to an earlier save so I could return the baby. I forgot to mention how much I liked the different areas - from the desert to the snow. Very well done! Any idea when part 2 will be ready?

He's in the Serpent's Dance Inn in Dersuf, in a room. To find the inn, look for the marker on the minimap, it is near one of the city gates. Since he is a companion, if you already found him, you would access him using the party roster menu as described in my module notes on this page.

I enjoyed the mod and am looking forward to part 2! I do have a question though - what am I supposed to do with the baby?

Finished playing now.

This was a solid and enjoyable module. Although it lacked polish in some respects I didn't find any bugs and it's well worth playing.

I'm sorry Karen but this game requires both expansions to play. You can tell what if any expansions are required to play mods by looking at the 'nwn2game' section. Do you have copies of the expansions that you can install?

OK, I'm not crazy - on page one it says that the mod was not completely uploaded (it was about a meg short) and not to play until it's re-uploaded! Is that causing my problems and is there someplace I can download the entire mod?

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly! I was talking about part 1. I can't get it to work - it crashes me to the desktop and for some reason I was under the impression that an updated version was going to be put up. But, I probably confused it with part 2. Are any add-ons needed to play part 1? Right now I just have the OC installed.

Karen, perhaps you read my messages discussing the sequel I am currently making and thought I was referring to this one. This module is complete, even though I am working on Tome of Yewrun II.

Hi Karen, I am not sure what you mean. The 'dersufcampaign' file you can download from this page is the correct file, complete and compatible with 1.23. Are you having trouble downloading the file or playing the module?

Liked the story and concept. Dialogue was fair. Desert setting was good although area designs need to be flushed out more. Overall I enjoyed this and hope to see more down the line.

I may start the pc off at level 8, it would be neater for people who played the first one.

It will be quite a long time before no. 2 is completed, so please go ahead y'all and play this one.

Thanks for the feedback Dave. The starting level for my upcoming sequel is 9, characters finishing the first one would be level 8. Would it be acceptable if I set a script to set experience up to the level 9 amount?

Also, some more information on the sequel. Canonically, your pc is assumed to be the same one from the first module, unless you make the choice to choose a member of the newly available fourth race option. It will not be necessary to have played this mod to understand the next one. When you start, new pcs will get a certain amount of cash, while imported pcs will get to keep all their old equipment from the first module.

The race options include the three avaialble in Tome of Yewrun I, plus the 'Re-birthed' race represented by the Yuanti Pureblood race. Any class is fine.

Changed the module description to be more readable, it starts with a description now instead of the warning to read the important notes.

I have started working on the sequel, which is set in Altesia. It may be played with your old pc or a new one, and will have a slightly higher pc level. There will be one more playable race available, ontop of the three allowed in the first game.

The protagonist is a newly retired adventurer who travels to Altesia to trade, passing through a village called West Longnor. Why was the village of Longnor recently seperated into East and West, and why are the residents of West Longnor acting strange? Whatever it is, it is spreading throughout Altesia and beyond.

It is still very early in development.

@ Dave Fritz. The sequel will take a long time to make, and is not 100% sure to go ahead. I have a story planned for the sequel and have done some minor initial work on the first area. The sequel will be set in Altesia, the land alluded to by Jikardis.

I am not sure whether you will start a new character or import in your old one. Can I get some feedback on whether people would prefer carrying over their old pcs, or starting a new pc fresh?

Hiya, just played through this nice little mod!

Really enjoyed it overall. I quite enjoyed the custom setting, and I am always really happy to see adventures which involve the desert. I played as a Refhrite. I liked that our background was actually as a merchant (as well as adventurer). There is just something about merchants making their living out in the desert that appeals to me.

I really liked that you're not afraid to be wordy when it comes to the player dialogue options. It tends to make the conversation feel more like... well, a conversation when the player actually has stuff to say. Options on how to solve sidequests were generally really nice and I enjoyed the skill checks as well. Well done on that.

The area design is fairly simple most of the time, but you do a good job on getting the theme of an area across nevertheless. One thing I would've liked to see is some more attention to the area outside the walkmesh border as well. If done well, some good area design on the edges of the map there can really provide a good sense of scale to the areas.

Great job, and I enjoyed the roleplaying most of all in the mod. Thanks for the upload!

Very nice module. The oriental environment and music is very enjoyable. Interesting story, conversation and roleplaying options in conversation. Looking forward to part 2

Hi Thibbledorf26.

I didn't experience any bugs at all.
The mod was really good overall and I enjoyed playing it and will deffinately reccomend it to everyone.
I like your use of skillchecks and your custom weapons.
The only reason for not giving it a higher rating, is the somewhat abrupt ending.

Sorry it took me a while to get back; real life (sigh). I did enjoy the custom weapons and I had no crashes in the desert or anywhere else in the Mod.

One point I forgot to make after reviewing my notes again is that you might consider giving the player the option to journey with all four NPCs. I did use each separately but when there was any significant dialogue, I listened to the present NPC then switched to the next then the next. I believe in one play through I heard most if not all of the different variations of conversation. IMHO I think the Mod would be fine if you just took everyone with you (and could see the NPCs equipment) :D

@ Walkercubed, let me try and help you out of this jam. There are no bugs, just a misunderstanding.

First, it is perfectly fine to trade in Jikardis for Laylah, you can only have one companion at a time and they are changeable. Jikardis has a quest, but is also a companion. There is no problem here.

TO ALL READERS, THERE ARE SPOILERS BELOW!




SPOILERS BEGIN HERE!



You have accepted the quest to find the brother in the Burning Lands, but you cannot access the BLands yet. This is fine, it is just a side-quest and can wait for now. You must wait until the events of the game take you to the Burning Lands and perform the side-quest then. Concentrate on the main Tirshayul quest of meeting the two agents.

The �demon� is the first agent, you have met it already.

You have to meet the second agent to progress. To meet the second agent you must find an explorer in Tirshayul who knows the areas around Tirshayul, the second agent is a hermit as mentioned in the books, after all. To find the explorer, read the map notes provided in the Tirshayul area map. This explorer will lead you to the second agent. After you meet the second agent, the quest will complete and you will be given new instructions about how to proceed via your companion and journal entry. Pretty soon you will be in the BLands.
