Run TlkEdit2.exe to edit Nwn2 files and TlkEdit.exe for Nwn1. Do not edit Nwn2 files in Nwn1 mode and vice versa as this will result in broken tlk and gff files.
Features :
copy/paste between different TLK, GFF or 2DA files
search & replace ( with regular expressions ) in TLK, GFF and 2DA files
undo/redo in TLK, GFF & 2DA editors
spell checking in TLK and GFF editors (dictionaries must be downloaded separately)
TlkEdit is also available in the NWN1 section of the Vault :

This is a great tool and easy to use. I have made tlk tables and edited and created 2da with no issues. Thanks for putting this together!

Only a small drawback - editing long tlk rows proves difficult because it won't scroll beyond screen-edge. Good in every other way! _________________________ |Morbane|
I can't seem to run any of the the various versions of tlkedit anymore. I am running Vista and have tried both with regular and compatibility mode to run tlkedit.exe but I get :
"This application requires a Java runtime 1.5.0"
I have installed both jre1.5.0-19 and jre1.6.0-7 and get the same result. What should I be doing different to get this to run??

It's not TlkEdit2 that's trying to pop thru your firewall, it's the Java environment. Java's looking for updates.

Quick question! As you graciously allowed, I have downloaded the TLKEdit2 and your excellent mod, and have begun trying to balance the races more. However, no matter how I change the stat adjustment fields, the changes do not affect the game. I always save the changes, and the changes are still there when I reload the file. Any idea of what I'm doing wrong?

It works. Great utility. Sorry for coming back so late, but latter than never! :) _________________________ Joinable NPCs in IWD2. I'm *not* kidding!

OK now understanding that TlkEdit cannot have lines of text with spaces, I know what to do now to edit other 2DA's.
Thank you for this very helpful utility! _________________________ NWN2 Rugs - Tapestries - New Wall Textures - New Floor Textures - Custom Load Hints! Spice up your mod today! Link

I am unable to edit the nwn2_tips.2da. I get an error:
"The file could not be opened. Broken 2DA File: found 22 fields (expected 8) on line '81*******"
This is the nwn2_tips.2da from data/2DA_X1.zip from Patch 1.13.
Another 2DA editor opens this 2DA fine. So I can't use this program for now. _________________________ NWN2 Rugs - Tapestries - New Wall Textures - New Floor Textures - Custom Load Hints! Spice up your mod today! Link

You are on the right way.Keep up the good work.Very helpful tool.Thank you!
@Kaeldorn: Not to say that you're necessarily wrong, but the only time I encounter that error is when I've got enough things open in it to max out the memory tlkedit2 seems to be set to use (it seems that the memory limit is somewhere around 130-200 MB of RAM)

Shazbotian - I have the same problem on many Haks that are not created using TLKEdit and I have not found a good solution. The NWN1 Creature Conversion is a biggie for me. _________________________ Segal

I just wanted to state that I found a way to solve the following error:
"Error in java launcher. Error occured while calling main method in Java class org/jl/nwn/editor/EditorServer"
It's the combination of Vista + (new versions of) Java + TlkEdit that gives problems. You can set TlkEdit2.exe to run in Windows XP (SP2) combatibility mode by right clicking the file -> properties -> combatibility tab. Select Windows XP from the pulldown menu. It should work then.
And I'll immediately vote a 9.75 because this is a really handy tool!
I downloaded the dll and I am now able to run this app. However, I cannot edit my spells.2da, it is complaining about extra columns? Hrm... but, I can get at the tlk, which is the important thing atm.
I try to run TlkEdit2, and get a message that it cannot run because it is missing MSVCR71.dll.
I'll try to locate that dll, but any info anyone can provide would be welcome.

First time user here, and it seems to be newb-friendly. Which is a huge plus. If that tool helps me to get through the trials of creating my first custom TLK I'll get back and vote. But so far thumbs up! _________________________ Joinable NPCs in IWD2. I'm *not* kidding!
