Heurodis is dead and the threat she posed to the Realms is ended. Victory, however, is tinted with loss as the hero responsible for this great deed is lost into the cold, dismal Plane of Shadow, from whose freezing bosom few have ever returned. Unknown to all but its damned residents, there is, however, a trap laid between the planes, a tangled snare of magic and obsession set to lure the unwary, the foolhardy and the lost
It is in this trap you find yourself, savior of Undrentide, lost in a dreamscape gone mad, ruled by a manipulator of destinies, the one known to his unwilling subjects only as the Dreamer. Your goal is simple: To wake up, to return to whence you came. To go Home. The Dream-Land is a dangerous place, wrought with peril and interwoven with the madness of its maker, but there is still hope lurking in the heart of it, and a few who resist. With the aid of a few of them, you might just make it.
Dradj, I just started the mod the other day and had the same gatekeeper bug. Guess thats what I get for not reading the comments here first. So far it is a blast of a mod to play. Just wondering if you are still checking this board what the fix is?
I tried just opening the door, and it won't work. Is there an item tag for the key so I can spawn it in? I am playing the 2.02 version.

All right, I addressed the gatekeeper issue in two ways. the first, I changed the model of Ikshil-Za himself, since I suspect the Wemic model might be to blame for his disappearance. The second, I unlocked the gate he's supposed to open. That way, his vanishing doesn't impact the plot at all anymore. I'll try to get the updated version up soonish, in the meantime I'll check it's compatible with CEP 2.1 and NWN 1.69. _________________________ The Power Almighty rests in this Lone Ring.

Ach.
Looking at this is like having a tooth pulled all over again. I made just about every single error imaginable as a module author. I was*bleep*y, took it personally and didn't cope with critics.
I was an*bleep*. That much must be said. The module's current state is not worthy of a HoF position, it was unfair to other, better HoF members that it was accepted in such a poor state. All this is probably a preface to me shaming myself to attempting to fix it again. _________________________ The Power Almighty rests in this Lone Ring.

Encountered the same game-stopping bug. I cannot give this mod more than 5/10 because half of it is unplayable. And I wouldn't recommend it to anyone else until it gets fixed. What a shame, being a new Hall o' Famer...
Was going to use this as my next SoU-HoTU bridge, but for the following behavior by the designer:
- His sarcastic, insulting and, in at least one instance, violent remarks toward negative comments.
- His reluctance to correct an apparently gamebreaking bug and his willingness to blame other members of the community for this (though he at least had the decency to later retract this, it shows the general line of thinking).
- His high opinion of his own work (his vote of 9) despite several votes/comments which suggest that it is not among the community's better efforts.
This is the first time I've passed on a module based solely on such desipicable behavior (referring specifically to the aforementioned violent wishes) by its designer. The designer (and many other NWN module designers) should learn to respect the opinions of the people who devote the time to download and play his modules if he so strongly desires (as is evident) positive votes.
I would refer the designer to the Vault entry for the Tangled Web module and the respectable manner that its designer conducts himself toward the community. It's an example that some other in this community would do well to learn from...

I shouldn't have snapped like that. It wasn't anyone's fault the mod failed but mine. Maybe if I hadn't given up on it, things might have turned out differently, ever so slightly. I wonder if I still have the files. _________________________ The Power Almighty rests in this Lone Ring.

The module looked impressive and seemed to be quite fun but I ran into the same bug as Mirgalen. I am also not impressed with Dradjeel's response that the community is to blame that the bug will not be fixed. I try to comment when I play a module and I try to rate fairly but I also expect a better response then "I was ignored by the community at large and my ego bruised so your Basically SOL, too bad you weren't here 2 years ago"

Thanks for the bug reports, I just wish you'd've been there 2 years ago to submit them.
The gatekeeper's disappearance appears to be an insoluble dilemma. It seems there is some kind of engine bug that despawns the object, or somesuch drivel.
Like I've said time and again, this module was never comprehensively tested mostly because my requests for aid went unanswered for over a year. If you find it not to your liking, you have only the community to blame for that.
I have no intention to ever open the toolset again, so there's no sense in sending any further error reports, really. If you (the community, not you in particular) had done so at the proper time, then maybe I'd've been inclined to fix things, but now, when the game being as cadaverous as it is, no way. _________________________ The Power Almighty rests in this Lone Ring.

Found a game stopper:
After a bridge there is a gate that should bo opened after a conversation with a NPC.
The problem is that the NPC is not there (reloaded a few times from the area near the tower).
The only way to continue would be to know how to spawn the NPC or how to trigger the script to open the gate.

Correction to my previous post:
There is a testing item in the module and it should be removed.
Posted by Mirgalen at 2007-03-22 05:37:17 Voted 5.50 on 03/22/07
I have completed this module a few times. The module is enjoyable if you play a strong (if not uber) adventurer however it is a lot more troublesome with a weaker one and the henchmen (they may have worsen in the latest version) are certainly part of the problem.
I tried version 2.2 but got bored by the bugs/glitches and by the highly unbalanced combats and/or lousy henchmen doing everything but what you ask them to do. Also for a bridge module I found this one rather tough in terms of XP and/or items you may get. If the combats are difficult, shouldn't the rewards be more than that?
Bugs:
- There a testing item early on (I did not take it) to help heal and revive the henchmen.
It should not be removed.
- got a couple of game crashes while entering a new area for the first time
- at one point while fighting a spellcaster the henchmen was attacking some "spell trigger" instead of the spellcaster.
- henchmen attacking when asked to stand or follow and vice versa. They don't drink healing potions either.
Gameplay : 5
I like the fact that the module is not too closely connected to SoU making it possible to play with another character. The world is unique and interesting. The use of CEP is a major plus. However the game seems to be tedious with anything but a strong melee character which a major drawback IMHO.
Roleplaying: 6
Alignment may change during conversation but this is mostly a H&S module with a few dialogues here and there to make the story progress.
Action: 4
I found major game balances issues where monsters are either push-over or way too difficult to defeat (without running away to rest). If one want to create diversity in terms of combat difficulty a 20% easy/60% average/20% tough/very tough should be a good mix here it is more like 50% easy/50% very tough. Also a number of creatures have insta-kill abilities making it impossible to complete the module w/o a single reload/respawn.
Visuals: 9 The module looks very good thank to the use of hak and CEP.
Sound: 6
Fun: 4
Fun would be 8 for a stong character and 2 for an average one (including spellcasters who would have to rest to regain spells after nearly every fight).

Basically a decent but not exceptional hack-n-slash module. I liked the use of custom content, but by the end, I felt like something was lacking. I don't really know why my PC was pulled into the Dream-Land or what the Dreamer's motivations were. Also, the areas I travelled through didn't feel especially dream-like. Not bad, but it didn't really reel me in.

Make no mistake, though. The ending is easily the weakest part of the story, to me. I just don't see how I could justify rewriting it to myself. Already I've obsessed over this little story for far too long. _________________________ The Power Almighty rests in this Lone Ring.

No, this is merely a patch. In these fading days, I don't want to rewrite the mod all over again. It's been a part of my life so long that I've grown attached to it. I'd much rather write something completely new (but that's never going to happen, either). _________________________ The Power Almighty rests in this Lone Ring.

Fantastic module! I thoroughly enjoyed it, and it seemed to suit my L12 rogue perfectly.
The wide selection of terrains, while perhaps improbable for a "real world" module, worked wonderfully within the context and added breadth and variety.
I appreciated having several henchmen to choose among (very nice @ Ergo the Magnificent ;-), although I had an inordinately difficult time keeping the barbarian alive.
The plot, although fairly linear, was very well conceived and held my interest throughout. The many small, yet usually plot-related, side quests were quite enjoyable.
Finally, the thing that really made this module shine was the outstanding attention to detail: the environments, the interiors, the NPC interactions, the suitability of the enemies to their environments, the consistency of the dropped items with the foes that dropped them, the near-perfect spelling and grammar (a personal peeve), and last yet not least, the merchant at the end who allows (and suggests) the sale of CEP items for compatibility with potential non-CEP modules to follow.
I enjoyed the experience immensely. Thanks!

Enjoying the module so far except that well there is a little problem or may be a big problem. My character is the naughty type. She likes to go everywhere where one should not go and a locked door is something that will interest her because it smells like danger and danger is fun.
Let's just say that we found found a locked door (very early in the module) and we need the key. It seems that getting the key does require a bit of slashing, crushing and/or piercing. The problem is that we are the one getting crushed. Even the dwarf will only stand a round or two and my character cannot even damage the nice looking "things" well may be a whip is not the best weapon one could use but you know dressed like that the whip is pretty much one of the few accessories that will match. That's not the point really, the point is if there is something of value behind the locked door how can we possibly get the key without being crushed in the process? Not to mention that blood stain is quite hard to clean.

To Voter #21: Thank you for your erudite wisdom. We apologize for the vast inconvenience that this module hath inflicted upon thee. We are puzzled, however, how a module that "wasn't worth doing" was still worth commenting snidely about in an arrogant and condescending way.

For those of you wondering about henchman AI, it's bog-standard Bioware henchman AI with all the flaws that entails. I am yet to find a suitable replacement that won't require me to rewrite their conversation files or replace swathes of scripting (like MBHK does). It's by no means a small problem, I admit.
I will update this module One Last Time, when patch 1.67 and CEP 2.0 come out. This "final" release will contain as many bug fixes and tweaks as I can muster together, plus maybe a bonus quest (and tying off one loose end someone wondered about). _________________________ The Power Almighty rests in this Lone Ring.

Looks interesting. Too bad its so short, I normally only play mods that are 10 hours+. I like a good story, but 1700 downloads cant be wrong.
One thing though... "Saviour of Undrentide"?... correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't the hero blow the place to hell and gone, I don't think sending an entire floating city crashing the ground as saving it. Maybe the saviour of East-Central Faerun would be more accurate. Haha.
Anyway, well downloader and see.

20 votes, 1700 downloads. It's enough to make one proud. Thank you, everyone, for playing this module and in so doing, supporting NWN. Sure, the game is old, but we're still out there, still in the ring. A rather comforting feeling that is.

You need better henchman AI. Their weapon selection is terrible. I would like to be able to order them to use only ranged or melee weapons.
