After vanquishing the Yuan Ti cult on Ajit-Kahn, you soar on the back of a griffin into Cormyr, a once-proud kingdom now ravaged by war. Cut off from all aid and left searching for the means to reassemble the Cursed Three, a slow realization dawns that all is not as simple as it seems. Factions from the planes and beyond move against you, enemies more powerful than those invented in your darkest nightmare all eager to see their greatest general reborn. You must act quickly against all comers, for time grows short. High in a ruined tower set into a remote, wind-swept peak, rituals upon which hang the fate of Faerun will be performed. But will they be rituals of rebirth or of abolition of renewed life or of utter devastation?
A continuation of chapters 1, 2, 3, and 4. For characters level 7 to 8. May advance as high as 10th level.

A bit glitchy, but utterly delightful story. I loved the postscript.

Lack of guidance ruined this, even though it's the climax.
I ended up going to the forest by reading the walkthrough and using the console.
If you don't have the Astral Ring, yet have Brynn with you, you can't get a trigger to the forest.
Also, weapon and armor merchants crash the game.
Overall this was just a giant cat and mouse hunt. _________________________ Steve's Characters - please don't forget to vote on them if you play them.
This is an excellent series so far, though I am just starting this chapter.
People experiencing crashes/freezes when opening a Saleron's Gambit store or merchant are likely dealing with a 2DA incompatibility in one of the HAK files. Before starting the module, open it in the Toolset and look at the Module Properties widget under the Edit menu. In the Custom Content tab, the HAK list may have one or more problematic cep1patch### entries listed (just below the sqv entry). Mine had cep1patch, cep1patch150, and cep1patch152. The author notes above that the module uses CEP 1.53, so cep1patch153 is probably all that is needed. In my case, I have cep1patch169 installed, so I replaced the two numbered patches with that one (cep1patch alone doesn't have any 2DA files in it).
Anyway, I hope this helps someone.

It was very delightful seeing this module take place for the large part in Sigil, I have only a passing knowledge of PS:T, and this part of D&D lore in particular, so it was an interesting new place to me. And with an attractive tiefling for a henchman to boot :P Thumbs up for the smart use of doppelgangers, those can always deliver the good twists in quest progression, though admittedly, I still liked best the double or even triple, I'm not sure at this point, twist in the "Orb of Thessula(sp?)" quest from part IV - it would be pretty hard to top that. Kincade was also a touch more interesting than the usual cookie cutter undead, which was balanced by Erebus being exactly one of the aforementioned cookie cutter undead. I absolutely loved the way Lazarus' quest ended :) Finally, this was the first time I've ever seen an NPC use diplomacy check vs another NPC, well technically, vs the PC's Persuade. Thank you for all those wonderful moments with this series :) (Score's not full as I ran several times into annoying bugs that forced me to reload saves, mostly to do with either the henchmen "knock out at death" system acting weird, or with area transitions not firing off..nothing I can put my finger on right now, or consider important enough to require hunting through the code for..)
Finally, if you're still interested in hearing input about this, TBO and Priestess fights have wildly differing outcomes not only with different characters..with the same character and different reloads..For TBO I let my animal companion(played a pure ranger) and Lazarus soak up most of the spells and simply hanged back with a longbow, which was ineffective, waiting for his protective enchantments to wear off. For the priestess, the first time she cast wall of blades straight off after buffing herself under the disguise of Greater Sanctuary, thus killing Lazarus in two wrong moves of his. The second time there was no wall and she felt easier. She cast heal while injured so was forced to cast cure critical when near death, maybe I should look into this Tony K AI script? *shrug* I'm usually more interested in the story than in the combat anyway..
I've just downloaded all 5 of your SG mods anbd files and installed them, or I think I did.
For some reason I do not understand, everytime I try to open any of the SG modules, I get a message - "Custom talk file missing, module cannot load"
I've got the most up to date nwn (1,69) Hotu and SoU and CEP 2.3
Can you help me understand what this error message means and how I might be able to fix it?
Thanks in advance.

Mac is right. I was missing out when I ignored this series for years.
Tiberius manages to tell the stories in such a way that a characters' abilities feel meaningful, and personal, more than happens even in grade A titles usually. I saw one person commenting that the series perfectly fit their mage; it perfectly fits my ranger, as well.
Which CEP does this series use? If not 2.X, are there any plans to update it?

Good story, fairly tough for a mage type. Where as I liked the low magic thing I do have to say that the Forgotten Realms is most assuredly NOT low magic (the 3.5 ed campaign book actually states its a high magic world.)
But I still enjoyed it.
One question, was there any way of resurrecting the student from chapter 2 who was trapped in the ball. I brought the sphere with me but never found Malphion in chapter 3. Just asking. _________________________ Jimbo

I so need to apologize because I have played this game prob 2-3 times (n will prob play it many more lol) n I never voted for it... This is a heck of an excellent series... I soooooo love it... I did have 1 lil bitty prob with the last chapter n being in that other realm, I always play my games top down n being in that realm with those tall buildings n lil narrow spaces made it hard to really control my character but despite that It was a kick butt game from the begining to the end... I wish you were continuing on with the series because you hate to see an ending to such a great quest... Thank you Tiberius for giving such a wonderful mod :) _________________________ "Let the Dragon ride again on the winds of time. The Prophecies will be fulfilled. The Dragon is Reborn."
I thought about it at first but then decided on doing a new series for NWN2. Unfortunately, working in NWN2 is so much more time-consuming than in NWN1, so the new "series" will be more like one campaign. It's almost done.

Have you thought about making this series for NWN2?

I find this ending chapter not as good as the previous ones. It seems this one is a little bit rush and not as detailed as Chapter 4. The ending is uninspiring. The journey to Sigil is quite nice but it is just too small. By no means it is not a good game but it's kind of anti-climax after I completed Chapter 4.

This is an absolutely excellent series of mods. I was interested from the first minutes of Chapter 1 all the way through the wrap up in Chapter 5. This chapter was my favorite of the five. I really enjoyed hanging out in Sigil and the fact that the henchies had their own quests.
Everyone should play these mods, they're wonderful!
Thanks again Tiberius! _________________________ The less you know, the more you believe.

I had the most wonderful time with this entire Saleron's Gambit story, from 1 to 5.
It's amazingly smart because it's so easy going on the technical side that I only felt like playing all along.
Easy going doesn't mean simple as it's probably the most complicated but masterminded module I ever enjoyed.
Many strong choices have been made by the author... for your only fun.
XPs come as they should, no matter how you went through each quest.
Monsters aren't everywhere but only where they're meant to be, but still waiting for you... even with Tony K's AI.
No magical gear. It's all about you, almost naked but with your own experience of " life " and nothing else.
When I start a new module my first concern is always which class I should pick. Most of the authors don't say much about it, which I can understand, but...
I'm glad I chose to play as a wizard...ess here, as it fits the module so fine. And then it gets really magical, even if it is already by itself. Magic and magical gears are different things.
I learned there how important it is to choose any one of your spells very carefully... even the low levels ones. As I had to use all of them in many occasions. Even if resting is not a problem.
It's beautiful. Those cities are the finest I ever visited... in NWN.
So real. A true dive in history.
And that surprising music was always around to give you the mood... if not the creeps.
That comment goes for any of the five parts of the module.
Which one I like the best? I wouldn't have enjoyed the fifth one so much if I hadn't played the ones before... before.
Thanks Mr. Tiberius209, I believe you're in the rocket thingy and from now on, I won't be so scared any more of flying into space 'knowing you're somewhere behind it, in charge of my life.
( Warnings and spoilers:
General: A spellcaster could easily destroy some major plot placables with heavy area spells, 'thinking of the the Lost Shrine of Bordoc in Part IV. So I never met my PC's true mother... ;-)
for Part 5 only: A couple of triggers are a bit uneasy to fire, if you run a bit fast over them to start some other action maybe, and could leave you with some unfinished quests...
'just remembering that Aegilaus wizard body for instance. I hate those area triggers anyway most of the time...)

This series is in each and every aspect the most brilliant, entertaining and rewarding experience I have found in the NWN multiverse so far. An absolute must!

Ruddy hell haven't voted
Thought I'd only leave coments on this page rather than each one.
First of all, have noticed that you have been looking at NWN2. I really do feel that Saleron Gambit would be ideal in NWN2 format, especially now Yuan Ti models are available.
Used a human NG cleric finished on 51/85 N/G so was happy with that.
Looking at comment below about how SG worked well with a sorceror build. My cleric with magic and trickery domains, concentration, OL, DT, Lore, spellcraft and persuade as well as "Holy Divine Warrior" well picked up a lot of xp from these, always had owls wisdom, fox cunning and eagle splendour when investigating. With trickery domain by persuade skills are as good as you can get.
Part 3 was my favourite, I love cities and the use of your "rumour" mongering is top notch.
I really would loe to see this in NWN2 format and would help to playtest as well.

Wow! I haven't had this much fun with a fan based (heck! official) campaign in a long time! The bugs were so few and minor that I never took note of them. I've played through all 5 parts (had some difficulty with the 4th and 5th, but, managed through) with a wizard and it was amazing. Reminded me of my days sitting in our living room with paper, pen and dice in hand. It's intelligent, well researeched (you know your Forgotten Realms!), well written story line, and so much more! Thank you! _________________________ Well...who would have thought THAT would happen?

I absolutely love this series. At first I was skeptical about the low-level aspect, but after playing, I can't complain at all - the balance is perfect, and the rarity of magical items made what I did get seem pretty special.
Roleplay was great (played a CG Sorceress), and I could almost believe the game was made for that configuration. I really got a feel for who my character was, which is what I always look for in an RPG.
I really appreciated the elaborate descriptions - they help my imagination kick in. The plot was thoroughly enjoyable as well. The companion characters were all well-developed for such (relatively) short modules, and I really enjoyed Brynn. Villians were good as well, especially Maldon.
However, my favorite aspect had to be Saleron. Yes, I'm another fangirl. I loved how he developed and how his relationship with my character developed. I liked that he wasn't perfect, and that he actually appeared to be busy at the same time my character was - that was one thing I hated about the NWN OC, that the taskmasters just sat around while my person was running errands. Anyway, my PC was certainly in love with him by the end, haha. I know you're really busy Tiberius209, but if you ever do make that sequel in NWN2 (where female PC's can be married to Saleron), I think you would have an audience. :-)
Oh, and the wizard's duel was absolutely brilliant. _________________________ If you are a dreamer, a wisher, a liar, a hoper, a prayer, a magic-bean-buyer. If you're a pretender, come sit by my fire, for we have some flax-golden tales to spin. Come in! Come in!

This is the first time I ever voted something because the series was so great that I _had_ to do so.
Note: I started as a druid and ended with a druid/fighter 8/2, so my comments only apply to this character. And sorry for my English...
Likes (too many that I can't list them all, so I only write down what I _really_ loved - beside Saleron ^^):
- the spell duel: I actually _was_ worried because Maldon said something like "Saleron had never won a spell duel against him"
- Saleron's last sentence in the good ending: you know, throughout the series I completely forgot that I once had that stupid nickname, but I wasn't really insulted, maybe my character just fell in love with Saleron ^^ (and I know that I'm not the only one)
Out of curiosity: Does actually someone betrayed him in the end?
Dislikes (too few that I must sound picky to others because I list them here ^^):
- sometimes difficult navigation in Sigil
I thought that I wouldn't play NWN2, but maybe I should reconsider?

@ molletje - I never had any crashing during any of the 5 chapters. However, 1) Check your override folder. If you have anything in there from previous games, it can conflict. 2) Be sure all your expansions are installed.
Anything beyond that. I'm out of ideas. I hope this helps, and if not, Maybe someone else will have an answer.
good luck

I noticed that the game crashes when some merchants open their stores. It happens also in chapter 4. There were other players having the same problem and have asked how to fix it. I did not find any answers. So please can anyone tell me what to do?

Just completed the series with a Rogue lvl 10, Sigil was great, and earlier in the series those Carrion Crawlers scared the heebeejeebies out of me. Having played BG2 (a long time ago), familiarity with Athkatla and The Copper Coronet was really enjoyable. Secret door in Aegilaus manor drove me mad, had to consult the walkthrough. Good to find alternatives to fighting like bluffing the Gatekeeper on the plane of fire. Hardest challenge was taking on the Blighted one, managed to lure him onto some traps (that helped a little but it was still a close call). Liked the bard's tale at the end. Thanks for a fantastic set of mods.

The best of the serie.
I played them all, and didn't fully enjoy the "low ex low treasure system". But this one, with its fabulous recreation of Sigil is one of the best mod I'v ever played.
Thanks a lot.

This was truly the best of the series
High marks for story, areas, atmosphere and.... One of the best story endings ever. I was thrilled that you had awesome closure on your ending. And the player had choices on how it ended.
Awesome work! i look forward to your nwn2 projects! _________________________ Michele O'Sullivan
