Description
"Wherefore all who live in the Moonshaes have felt the bite of evil as it rises again and again..... They threaten us. What can vanquish it, for a time?"
'FA1 - Halls of The High King' for NWN v.1.69
Based on TSR' s 1990 Module by Ed Greenwood, and Loosly based on Chapter 1 of:
'Baldur's Gate - Dark Alliance' (2001) by Snowblind Studios
Designed by:
Udasu
Starting Level: 1
Number of Players: 1-3
-----------
BGDA:
You have been the victim of a brutal robbery, and are drowning your sorrows in a tavern, when you are approached with a job offer. This job offer will lead you into the adventure of a lifetime!
-----------
HotHH:
Someone in the misty, wooded Moonshae Isles needs hundreds of brand-new swords taken under guard from the Sword coast smiths to a certain place on their isles.
The swords are needed so badly, and their safe arrival is considered so unlikely, that someone is willing to pay adventurers a lot of gold - someone fairly important.
Adventurers too foolish enough to take assignments too good to be true (or merely desperate for coins) will soon find themselves embroiled in a dark and mysterious struggle against evil that will take them into sacred groves, crumbling castles, and through ancient magical gates, to the Hall of the high King - and beyond.
Iyokus - Thanks for the kind words. I'll can make the adjustments, sure. The henchmen aren't fleshed out, so most of their dialog is boiler plate. I changed Alyth's dialog a bit too, so it makes more sense. Thanks for the input! - U _________________________ Well, y'know... Sometimes you eat the bar, and..
Great, another classic PnP conversion ! I'm still playing the prologue but I thought I'd post a first few comments.
-like : visuals, atmosphere, setting (can't go wrong with Baldur's Gate and the Moonshaes), choice of companions. There 's an "old school" vibe overall that I find very enjoyable, and I always like it when your character has to start from scratch.
-dislike: The dialogue could maybe use a little more polish, for example too many people in the Elfsong tavern use the "I thought you were from the Guild" line. Also, the game seems to assume I've done things I haven't done yet : when I entered the temple of Helm the priest called me "rescuer of his Temple" and gave me a reward.. Nice, but I'd rather have earned it. Or if I ask the lady at the Elfsong about the local thieves, she answers that "there's not much to say since you've taken care of them".. Only I haven't.
Still have a lot more to see. 6 gameplay hours is an underestimate!
Swen Tyr'ein - Just talk to the people in the hold. Talk with the merchant a second time.. _________________________ Well, y'know... Sometimes you eat the bar, and..
Hi !
Very nice mod, for now but...
When on the Mermaid Sword... What am I supposed to do ?
I've finished visiting it and... Nothing is happening...?
Did I miss something ?

All right, all of the teleport and xp give scripts are now mp-working. I play tested a few, and will do more when I have time. Let me know if there are any more mp-issues. -U _________________________ Well, y'know... Sometimes you eat the bar, and..
Whoops. I think I accidentally pooched some scripts while trying to make them mp.. ugh.. this will take a while.. _________________________ Well, y'know... Sometimes you eat the bar, and..
I'll investigate / fix the teleport / xp scripts. Thanks you guys , for playing this still, and giving great feedback! -u _________________________ Well, y'know... Sometimes you eat the bar, and..

She generally plays as a "henchman", we let one PC do all the talking so it doesn't matter too much about linear. As long as the transitions pull both players through and award MP exp points then we can make anything else work with the DM client. We're currently playing Eye of the Beholder by Dark and the EOB team. As soon as we finish that it's hack to Halls!

Well, I finished the mod (again!) and enjoyed it even more than the last time! Nice touch receiving certain item at the end, yay! :)
Yeah, never really was designed to be an mp mod. It's kind of linear at times. I don't really open it up for exploration until the very end. It's going to take some time overhauling this one for mp.. _________________________ Well, y'know... Sometimes you eat the bar, and..

I hope to be playing this again Multiplayer with the wife in a few weeks. Any MP friendly tweaks would be much appreciated. I think when we used the DM client to keep the party together through certain transitions the only thing that went wrong was the experience point allocation seemed to be off. I am not sure how all that works and could just be confused...

(answering my own post)
I decided to check out the forest again, and found the Secret Door under the ruins (duh!) that I had missed earlier. The saga continues! :)

Me again, sorry to be such a pest. I just cleaned up the Banites and am sorta stuck in Dultann. I'm supposed to speak with "someone in town" to get info on the Vale, but I can't remember who or where. I'm pretty sure I've spoken to everyone (including the animals!) but I'm just not finding the right person somehow. Another little nudge please? :)
I checked Veldyrina's conv. I think a script just needed a timeout tweak; so now, that shouldn't happen again. _________________________ Well, y'know... Sometimes you eat the bar, and..

Veldyrina shouldn't have died, she's immortal. Maybe that's a bug. I'll check the other, spawning threads for the other version that's speaking with Thazstar. Stinky..? ;\ Go speak with Veldyrina at the tavern, to go to Gwynneth. _________________________ Well, y'know... Sometimes you eat the bar, and..
I'll make it worth the day, and work on a mini-quest. Then I'll upload the update. Thanks again for the support! _________________________ Well, y'know... Sometimes you eat the bar, and..
Neilium - Thanks for the fixes, I made sure the pertinent scripts should only fire once. U _________________________ Well, y'know... Sometimes you eat the bar, and..

I remembered one other thing, might be important:
**Spoilers**
.
.
.
.
When fighting the Pirate Battle, the Captain was killed. I didn't realize it at the time (SO much going on during that) but 'Stinky' wouldn't finish his convo Down Below. I used a previous Save and made sure she was alive after the battle, and everything went smoothly from there. (Could NOT if she didn't survive the battle.)
.
.
.
.
**End Spoilers**
I'm almost embarrassed to ask, but I think I'm done in Aithelar & Keep and I can't remember how to progress onwards to Gwenneth. Can you please give me a little nudge to point me in the right direction? :)
Thanks!

Nice to see the Recall doors working now, yay!
**Spoilers Below**
.
.
.
.
When in the Elfsong Tavern, 2 NPCs appeared twice. I don't mean at different times, I mean actually standing next to each other! I'm pretty sure it was Chandra and Jhelek. (spelling?) Two of each.
Talk about doing a double-take! :) Not only that, but they keep awarding XP,GP, and Flametounge for example, so I'm not sure if other players will be happy when you fix this bug. Then again, I *do* play a Paladin, so I can't help myself! :)
Oh, and the underwater quest was a fun surprise!
.
.
.
**End Spoilers**
Ok, that's it for now, thanks again!

Cool, thanks a bunch!
Thanks for the (continuing) hard work! :)
Sorry for the delay, Neilium, RL and so forth. I've put a few huge updates out there:
"Whenever I needed to use the Stone of Recall, I always wound up in a portal room with 8 doors, none of which I could open. What was that all about?"
-You can open them all now, as you level up!
"I chose "Adrianna" (a sorceress) as one of my companions. When leveling up, there were choices to dual-class and I chose Rogue. She never once tried to disarm a trap or unlock a door. Did I do something wrong?"
-Don't think so. I re-created her with the wizard, so lemme know if the new her doesn't work for you.
Beholder - I usually throw choking powder right at them, and then run out of their radius. I give my tank a great axe, and let him swing away while I stay out of range.
Lemme know if anything else comes up!
-U _________________________ Well, y'know... Sometimes you eat the bar, and..
Thanks TimG! After that big update, you may want to play again - put a better ending on it! -U _________________________ Well, y'know... Sometimes you eat the bar, and..

Finished the mod:
Rockin' awesome module. Highly recommended. It looks great and plays smoothly. Updates are there and customer service is the best. By all means download this and play it!
Thanks TimG, sounds like a bug. I put skeletons in there even, to point at it. Glad you're enjoying it! -U _________________________ Well, y'know... Sometimes you eat the bar, and..

I had to use the DM Client to trip the door trigger. Must have been a glitch, I could see the footprints but not activate the trigger. I loaded it up multiplayer and had my level 32 guy look for the door and he couldn't see it either so I just DM'd it. This module is amazing, the atmosphere is really good. I hope it gets the multiplayer treatment someday because I'd love to play this one through with my wife and friends. It may be better than accursed tower (maybe...)
Make sure to thoroughly explore the darkhorn ruins, so the plot can advance. _________________________ Well, y'know... Sometimes you eat the bar, and..
TimG - There are two triggers in Dultan's Beard - One goes to the forest, the other back to the gap. The adventure continues in the forest. _________________________ Well, y'know... Sometimes you eat the bar, and..

I seem to be stuck at Gwennyth. I cleaned out the enemies and the journal says someone in town will known how to get to the Vale but I've talked to everyone and they all have about the same conversation options, none of which provide any clue. One townsperson was killed earlier bay a raider that followed me back into town but I think it was a commoner. How do I get to the Vale?
